Read and absolutely loved the Sloane Crosley ARC. I would also put it on a par with the Didion.Quite a stack.. Just picked up Parade from the library.Found I who have never known men really disappointing though - just never moves on from the premise. If you have read the blurb you have read the book imo
i also preferred A Horse at Night: On Writing over indelicacy. just finished all fours, its wacky lol but enjoyable. i hope you liked kairos, i really liked it but its bleak af lol. is mother dead is also fun and you. areright it was longlisted for int booker in 2023. i'm excited to hear what you think about these books when you get to them!
living for the amina cain renaissance hahaha. i just picked up grief is for people from the library yesterday - i hadn’t heard the didion comparisons but that’s making me even more excited to get to it. also having fomo with all fours but my library hold is taking so long to come in!! this is such a good list and all the editions you have are so pretty!!
That edition of acts of desperation is criminal. I hunted down for the yellow and black one with the naked woman instead which is gorg. The book is really really good though, hope you do pick it up soon! Also, patiently waiting for your thoughts on Kairos, will def buy it if you recommend it!
What a great selection! I have read some of these (The Forbidden Notebook is great! You did pronounce her name correctly.) and the others are also on my TBR.
What a stack! I’m in the same boat regarding Amina Cain. Indelicacy was alright for me and I love the non fiction, AHorse At Night. The Sloane Crosley was a stand out memoir for me this year. I adore Kick the Latch because of the way that Scanlan so artfully put it together.
I'm fully on board with a Winter of Women™ for you! This is a very good list IMO; hope you find some edifying reads among them. I'm currently reading Megan Nolan's newer one, Ordinary Human Feelings ◡̈
I forever feel you are my book soulmate, so I have hope re: you getting along with Horse at Night. Alsooooo super curious to hear how you'll get on with I Who Have Never Known Men 'cause *whispers* I had a similar experience as Indelicacy with that one 😬 tried three times, but kind of think I'm the problem. If you end up not liking it either though, I'll know its them not us 😂
Good luck with Acts of Desperation. I haven't heard much about it in my circles but this was just... fine? I'm glad I read it but I also felt like I wasted my time.
