I feel like Sol saying that Mae's fire destroyed everything is metaphorical such as Obi Wan telling Luke that Darth Vader killed Anakin. Anakin was no more when he turned to the dark side and became Darth Vader, so Obi Wan didn't really lie when he said Vader killed Luke's father. Mae started a fire and that led to "whatever really happened," meaning Sol's not really lying when he says Mae's fire killed everyone. Just my thoughts.

I have a theory of this episode, especially about the witches' death. I think it was the sith lord who kill them to make Mae thinks that the Jedi did it, and I think the Sith Lord is Darth Plagueis the Wise, who wants the ability of the force to create life. Probably we see a young Plagueis wanting to have those abilities and having an apprentice before having Sidious.

Oh wow...nice theory! Yeah, I'm really hoping we get a Darth Plagueis appearance before the series ends. That would tie it all together very nicely with what we learn in the Prequel Trilogy!

Great video! I love how you tied things in this episode to other Star Wars media. I picked up on some of the parallels while watching but not all. And I appreciate that you are open to the way this show adds to Star Wars lore with the thread vs the force and that Anakin may not have been the only one conceived without a father. (Contrary to what some are saying, this doesn’t take away from him being the Chosen One, since didn’t the Mortis Arc in TWC prove that he was. And TCW is top-tier canon with both Disney and George Lucas considering that show canon). And thank you for pointing out that Mae might have been “possessed”. That didn’t occur to me. The mystery the show is presenting is really intriguing. Since Leslye Headland said it would be like Rashomon, I wonder if in each episode we’d get to see what happened from someone else’s point of view. Episode 3 was from Osha’s pov. And I expect we’ll also get the POV’s from Mae, one or more of the witches, and one or more of the Jedi. Definitely looking forward to it! Concerning Sol, I think he acted on instinct the first time. And since he couldn’t save Mae, he was probably asking himself over and over again what he would have done differently and came to the conclusion that he should have used the Force. So when he was in a similar situation again he did. And I wonder if killing Jedi without a weapon = force choke or force lightning. Since doesn’t the force user need to be using the dark side to be able to do them.

It's really interesting how you see early on the Light in Osha and the Dark in Mae. And one of the things I loved this episode for was reminding us that the Jedi don't operate in black and white when it comes to Force users they discover. As far as the tree situation, probably a perceived notion and not reality. Didn't even catch the Spice Cream stuff. Wait the Nightsisters mentioned it as a thread?! So my thoughts on them perhaps being an off-shoot wasn't far off ... huh. Also I did not notice the marking in episode 1 that's crazy. As far as the Anakin-related stuff I have mixed feelings on if I want it to be connected or not. On one hand that's great to get more lore but then it feels like Anakin wasn't so special after all and sure as heck not the only one. The black eyes thing with Mae is a good catch because I feel Koril (thank you for bringing up her name) is alive and perhaps orchestrating current events. I think you have some good ideas because it would explain Torbin's words to Mae in episode 2. It's important to note that earlier in the episode that generator is focused on too. Nice catch on the scar too. Hey now, I wanna know how Sol was created too lol. I think We know why Torbin knew Mae was alive, that marking after he opened his eyes. Awesome video! I liked this episode a lot. The mystery is getting deeper and we'll definitely revisit these events later in the series to understand more about what truly happened. I can't wait! One detail that I think you overlooked in your analysis is the line that Mother Aniseya told Osha when she confirmed that she wanted to be a Jedi. She hugged her, she said that she would discuss it with the other witches, but then she also added that her wish "will be considered". She didn't say "your wish will be respected", or "granted". It will be "considered". As in, the final word is still up to us. Maybe I'm reading into this a bit too much, but yeah, I don't think she was going to let her go that easily, and she might have even used Mae to start the fire in the first place, as evidenced by the black eyes. Who knows? I'm excited to see what happens next!

I am so grateful for this channel despite me not liking this show at all. It’s such a breath of fresh air to have someone be able to so critically break down a show like this. I can’t believe the amount of videos I’ve seen who legitimately say the thread is completely different from the force or that Mae’s little candle fire actually killed the whole Coven with such conviction. I think this overarching mystery is actually semi-decent. My issue is with each episodes individual plots being horribly written and driven forward by many coincidences/contrivances. It’s so nice to see someone not make a million assumptions and extrapolate like crazy with insane conviction but instead you just rightfully point out what we do and don’t know and what options that leaves us. I really like this mystery and the slow build that they’re giving us. However I am a little concerned, most mystery shows have the huge but simple to solve problem of not actually giving us answers, and with this only giving us one answer it’s not the best sign. However it is still early and I think we will definitely get more solutions. I also gotta say I don’t think Mae was controlled at least by the witches. We have a very clear indicator of when that is happening with the black eyes and that’s just not there. However maybe the sith master was doing it or perhaps even a Jedi somehow. Could be interesting to see but I am very sure it isn’t a witch, they would have to pull a really weird explanation for why her eyes don’t change like everyone else if that was the case. I’m also a little concerned for the implications on anakins conception. I really don’t want Anakin conception to be based on evil premises I think that will really undermine his fall to the dark side. But who knows it’s not 100% on if or how this will connect to that
@AbitofEverything4U
@AbitofEverything4U 4 месяца назад
Excellent commentary. I really do hope we get all the answers to our questions. Seems like it will all come together in the end. Fingers crossed. As for Mae being controlled, I wonder if the black eyes are when someone is first taken over, but then their eyes return to normal? I really do suspect Mae was not doing things under her own will, but I suspect we’ll find out in the next flashback. And yeah, I’m very hopeful that the show doesn’t alter the lore behind Annikin’s birth and instead I hope it adds even lore context behind it.
@Comic_Geek2001
@Comic_Geek2001 4 месяца назад
I know this episode is under fire for breaking canon and ruining Anakins story and the prophecy but I don’t think it does. I like to compare the respective births to playdo. The force is playdo here. The witches took that playdo and created two twins with it. They molded it into them and thus created them with playdo (the force). Anakin however was created by the force itself. That would be like the playdo gaining sentients or in this case, the force acting on its own, to create and mold a person (Anakin). One birth it’s being used, the other it is doing on its own. I think that separates them enough for the prophecy and legacy of Anakin to remain in tact. I know this is the minority opinion. I get the other side but don’t personally feel that way so strongly. Yeah it’s kinda lame Anakin isn’t the only one born from or through the force, but not too big of a deal for me. The acting is questionable in this show. 6/10 so far for me.

Quick correction. It was God who said they'd die if they ate from the tree of knowledge of good and evil, NOT Satan. And speaking of, the language used when referring to the serpent is actually pretty interesting. The character of Satan didn't until fairly recently in Christian mythology. The wording used was actually describing the serpent as a satan, which means ememy of God. Which can include a lot of people and things. Not auper relevant to a Star Wars video, but you did bring it up.

@DarthTingleBinks
@DarthTingleBinks 3 месяца назад
@@AbitofEverything4U The only one? Really? I guess I'm not super surprised. The story was always fascinating to me, because it always seemed to me that the serpent was right. God said they would die, and without any reason to suspect otherwise, they assumed that the fruit would kill them. That it was poisonous. The serpent, whether he was tricking them into defying God's word or not, told them that they wouldn't die if they ate the fruit, and so they did. And they didn't die, either. Not for at least 800 more years. If anything, I think God allowing them to live so long before death is far crueler than just letting them die immediately. For all they knew after so much time, they WERE going to live forever. Of course I then also think about what happens after God kicks Adam and Eve out of the Garden of Eden, which is to place a flaming sword in front of the Tree of Life to prevent anyone from getting near it, which always rang very weird to me. I think at some point God had said that Adam and Eve had "become like him" but if they'd already become like him, then why protect the Tree of Life? Unless immortality was the only other thing they needed to be "like God". Could be an interesting thing to explore in the MCU, actually. Especially because Adam and Eve are both characters in Marvel comics, and both God and the Hell Lords (the enemies of the God, the Satans, as taken from the original language used in the Bible) ALSO exist.

Firstly, I don't think Mae and Osha are in any way similar to Anakin's conception. I wouldn't even call it immaculate per se. Anakin's conception is definitely more played up as being divin intervention. The Force at times also seems to have a will of its own, and in the Legends book Darth Plaegius, it's hinted that The Force creates Anakin because Plaegius and Sidious were pushing the boundaries of the Dark Side in such a way that The Force itself created Anakin as a way to regain balance, and then Sidious eventually felt his presence through The Force. There's also a very infamous image that's in a Canon comic showing Sidious behind a pregnant Shmi Skywalker, suggesting that he was personally responsible in Anakin's creation, even if it was still not a traditional conception, but it's a vision that Vader is seeing, and it's clearly manipulated, too. Koril and Aniseya are witches, their witchcraft is going to act very differently than manipulating Midi-chlorians to create life. I think because this Coven has essentially been outcast by the Galaxy and has found seclusion on this planet, they now have to resort to alternative means of preserving their Coven if it is to survive past their natural lives. There could be a form of cloning and surrogacy taking place to which Aniseya is providing her genetic material and then also using The Thread to impart something further, maybe even making a clone of herself and further imparting her will, which then results in these twins who very much mirror the Light and Dark Sides of the Force. Even the symbol on Mother Aniseya's forehead is reminiscent of the Yin and Yang in the very center, and given how she acts, she seems to be striking some kind of balance whereas her children tend to lean more one direction or the other. I didn't remember how the symbol looked on Mae's head, but unfortunately it is also a dual spiral and not a single spiral. This is really only a theory at the moment, but I think the similarities between Anakin and Mae and Osha are really only because the Force had a part in their creation, but to what degree is very different. Aniseya claims that it's a miracle that has taken place, but that may be more for the benefit of the members of the Coven, Koril obviously knows what's happened, a few other members may be aware, too, or this is the story that is being told, and eventually this lie will eventually just become accepted as a truth the more everyone hears it. Mae and Osha could also be the first test babies before it could have become more mainstream within this community and the witchcraft used in their creation would be perfected over time. This would also explain why Koril is so protective because if anything happens to the twins, it could impede the success of the test, which probably wouldn't be concluded until they were fully grown. I feel like the twins' creation is out of preservation of this Coven's culture and traditions. Okay, now onto what's happening with the Jedi. Honestly, the Jedi really had no business being there, but I can't disagree with their involvement either because then Osha would have been committed to a cause she didn't truly believe in. There's something instinctual in her telling her that this is not the life to live. But the Jedi also totally broke into this stronghold and then interrupted a ceremony, so it's very interesting how we're playing with what is good and bad on both sides of things. The Jedi are ultimately good, but their intentions have clearly resulted in a very negative outcome. Because we don't have the full picture yet that is very much likely saved for another flashback episode, or a series of them throughout the rest of the run of this story, we can't be certain, but I don't think the Jedi killed everyone. I actually didn't notice Mae's trance-like state, but I get the feeling perhaps Koril may have something to do with it. Koril is very adamant that if the Jedi found out how they created the twins that it would bring about the Coven's destruction, but I don't think they ever got the chance. I actually think there may have been a Jonestown or Heaven's Gate situation where they poisoned themselves. The Bunta tree and its poison was brought up, and Torbin even takes a poison made from one of its seeds in the previous episode. I think it's possible that when the fire began, the Coven may have decided that the secret to anything they've done here was going to the grave. Not one member was going to be taken by the Jedi, the jig was up. Now why they would do that and seemingly let Mae and Osha live, I don't know, but that's where all these omitted details in the episode will eventually come into play once we get more information. I haven't been blown away by this show, but the more and more I think about this episode in particular, the better it's getting. I can see why some people could be upset, but things are also being blown way out of proportion, especially in a show that's been marketed as being a mystery with many new revelations happening each episode. We are not anywhere close to a full picture, and while people are free to have opinions very early on, without having that full picture, I think it's still too early to deem this show a failure or a massive disservice to the Star Wars brand.
@AbitofEverything4U
@AbitofEverything4U 4 месяца назад
Excellent commentary. Your last point is the most important...we only have part of the story at this point. So the fact that people are getting upset about it is premature. In the end, once the entire story unfolds, then we can decide if it was good or not and if it meshed with our overall understanding of the force or not. But right now it's just fun to sit back and watch it all play out. And also, great feedback on how Anakin's situation is different from Mae and Osha. I suspect you are right, but I can't help but notice so many of they ways they are paralleling the two stories. Can't wait for future episodes to give us more!
@MCLegoboy
@MCLegoboy 4 месяца назад
@@AbitofEverything4U There are certainly parallels, but everyone that's harshly criticizing Mae and Osha's origins are making it out to be that Anakin is no longer special. Palpatine was brought back, so it doesn't feel like he was really the Chosen One (I mean, I can't really disagree with that, having Palpatine return was a bad idea, let alone its execution), and now his conception is no longer unique, meaning he was never special to begin with, he was just some schmuck who did some things for about 40 years and died like the rest of us. I never got that vibe from the episode. If Anakin is truly born of the Force, then even if Mae and Osha are also born of the Force, theirs is still warped and far more unnatural with Aniseya having a major part in it, performing all kinds of witchcraft to bring them into being with that intent. Anakin's origin is certainly unusual, but if it's the will of the Force and not of anyone's personal doing, that's where I find the parallels to end even if the story following has other similarities becuase they are simply just not the same characters. The Jedi step in and find them at an age too old for most Jedi, Osha even eventually leaves, but we still don't know why, she's on good terms with everyone for the most part, and so on. Star Wars has a lot of callbacks and uses parallels, something like this was probably bound to happen eventually, but there's plenty different here where it's clearly unique and different and has me intrigued. I really like the concept of a character like Maz Kanata in The Force Awakens, she's pretty fun. I hate that she's older than Yoda, I feel like that robs a lot of the specialness of him, but it doesn't break all of Star Wars for me either. It's just one sticking point, and it may not be as consequential as immaculate conception, but it's still a major character a lot of people like. In fact, Yoda probably would have still been living for a good while longer if he hadn't gotten sick. Dude probably had the best healthcare for 850+ years, but then on Dagobah, he finally catches something that'll take him out, and he still lived there for 25 years, it's actually kind of a miracle, so you know, I can come to some kind of conclusion that works in my head. They're literally telling the audience in this show that while Mae and Osha are similar to Anakin, they're also the product of something that is much darker and occult, like, just let it be, form some headcanon of how these things are even more dissimilar if you aren't willing to even write off the Acolyte entirely, even though a number of the criticizers are also doing that. But I'm sure I'm wrong in some form or fashion in the realm of subjective material because I don't immediately hate a Star Wars thing under Disney ownership, completely disregarding that there are plenty of other things those fans enjoy that are also post-2012 projects. 🤷‍♂

Well said...I just don't have the energy in me to hate on the show, especially when we don't know the full story behind Mae and Osha yet. Lots left to learn. Great comments as always!

I don’t think there’s any connection to the witch births and Anakin’s birth. One was a perversion (in the eyes of the Jedi) by witchcraft and the other was the Force willing the Chosen One into existence. I don’t think there’s gonna be any controversial reveal there. Could be wrong though.

I agree...I don't feel that what the witches did alters the lore around Anakin's birth. I think it's two different groups using the Force in unique ways, but that it all works together without contradiction. Hopefully we'll learn more about the twin's birth as things movie along. Definitely has me curious to see where things are going!

So, if the Jedi hadn't showed up Osha would've end up being a witch against her will?
@AbitofEverything4U
@AbitofEverything4U 4 месяца назад
It sure felt that way. Osha hesitantly said "I...do..." in answer to th question about joining the coven and so I suspect they would have performed the ceremony on her. Yikes!

That's the million dollar question. I suspect we'll slowly get our answers as the series unfolds. Fingers crossed they stick the landing and tie things into Phantom Menace nicely!

Feel like the Disney show kept making Jedi as villains rather George made Jedi good in prequel and original trilogy

Yeah, the "High Republic" era isn't the best of times for the Jedi. Something ultimately leads to the next era named "Fall of the Jedi" (which we see during the prequel trilogy) and it seems that their pride during the "High Republic" era is a big part of the issue. It's interesting to see the mistakes made by the Jedi at the height of their power as we can learn lessons about life in general as we see them paving the way to their fall.

I don’t know if the show is making them villains. They’ve always been people who take force sensitive children from their parents through unknown means at a young age and then encourage them to distance themselves from emotion, leading to resentment and dark Jedi that eventually become Sith. And that’s just talking about Anakin. This is just retreading that ground imo.

George absolutely deconstructed the Jedi and showcased all of their flaws in both the prequels and Clone Wars. To say they were always portrayed as pure good isn’t accurate.

@@characterwork.3 Agreed...I think we are seeing that there is alot of complexity to the Jedi. I don't see them as any more villainous than they were portrayed in the prequel trilogy. They are flawed just like all of us are. It just shows how power leads to control, which leads to arrogance and pride, which ultimately leads to a fall.
