While @NIN have been a critical part of my music vocabulary for a while now, I had, for some reason, never heard much of With Teeth until 2020, when I heard Alessandro Cortini mention All The Love In The World as his favorite Nine Inch Nails song during a Zoom chat to celebrate the band's induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. I was curious enough to look it up and was blown away by the way it progressed from mournful, to haunting, to balls-to-the-wall energetic. While it inspired many ideas within me, the main reason I wanted to put my own spin on this tune was so I could learn how to better use synthesizers and create sonic landscapes with them.
Vocally, I was having trouble channeling the necessary angst in Trent Reznor's voice during the verses, and decided to go in a different direction by having Olivia take the lead instead. It was also quite a challenge to try and pick out the many overlapping vocal layers during the song's climax.
Instrumentally, I wanted to make the climax punchier with a heavier bass and a guitar running through a bitcrusher. I also had to pick up a tambourine and shaker for the percussion during the buildup. Overall, this is a very important cover that allowed me to level up by working with new instruments and sounds. It was recorded in early 2021, and many of the lessons learned during that process have helped to better my sonic palette.
