I've never ever understood the draw to Loreal's Lash Paradise. I've tried it repeatedly, multiple tubes, and drying is an understatement. That stuff made my lashes just break, mid-shaft. Then trying to remove it at the end of the day, more would come out at the root. I despise it and could never understand why so many youtubers loved it. My lashes are perfect with any other mascara, even other L'oreal formulas. 🤷🏼♀️
Agree. It's terrible mascara. I don't understand why anyone likes it. Give me either L'oreal Voluminous Carbon Black, but even better, I'll take an Essie Lash Princess.
Wow, that's terrible! Lash Paradise is probably the best drugstore mascara I have used to date, and I don't have the struggles you mention or particularly find that it dries out too fast. But I'm oily myself - eyelids, undereyes, etc, and I wonder if that makes a difference in how the formula performs on me. I just find it a little underwhelming compared to some of the more prestige/high end mascaras I get in subscription boxes (and their associated add-on sales etc). So I wouldn't pick Lash Paradise for a look if I were put on the spot currently, as I have better options among my collection of open mascaras, and I don't foresee myself "needing" to pick up a drugstore mascara anytime soon, but I would have considered it a solid recommendation for someone else. Interesting to hear you have such a different experience with it.
@@vainglory5346 Maybe it is so. I have oilier skin and it's ok on my lashes, but my daughter with dry skin says, that her lashes just soak the maskara in and she can't see, she wears one.
I am wholly unqualified to monitor my own bedtime. And I'm taking steroids right now for an allergic rash and they give me horrible insomnia so it's even worse.
I’ve done it since I had kids lol. All the constant demands stressed me out and I needed “me” time. I survive on 5 to 6 hrs sleep. Totally worth it to me. I wake up on my own now after 6 hrs sleep.
This hits the nail on the head for me & I feel like this has been a blessing and a curse at the same time... I 'trick' myself into staying up later because I can sleep in later (hey, why not? lol) since working remotely, but its just so very bad for my work day routine... I sacrifice my waking up routine for sleep because I now stay up waaaayyy too late to indulge in RU-vid and tik toks... it's gonna really stink when I return to the daily 'going to the office' routine. But, I'm also a procrastinator, so... lol (I just tell myself I work best under pressure!)
So true! I do it every day. When I have to get up in the morning I tell myself that I'm going to bed early tonight but that never happens. I nod off at my desk during the day. I end up catching up on sleep over the weekend but I sleep until 2.
Yep! I have an 18 month old and I’m newly pregnant. I TOTALLY stay up way late to watch RU-vid and browse Instagram. First trimester tired sets in during the day, but I still somehow stay up late to get alone time.
I'm a stay at home mom to 4 and I am super guilty of revenge bedtime procrastination. I just stay up in the silence for way longer than is good for me.
Yes, the Elf Wow Brow gel is amazing! I've tried many other brow tints, high end and drugstore, and when I finally gave Wow Brow a spin recently, I was amazed. I love it, it's so cheap too and really fluffs and colors my brows, new HG!
I just bought it and I'm enjoying it. I wish it had more hold though. Debating on buying: ABH Brow Gel, Benefit 24hr, Glossier Boy brow, or NYX brow glue 🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔
the only brow gel i use now! I swear by it. I use neutral brown and the color on the packing can definitely throw you off but don’t knock it till ya try it!

I don't have crazy brows that need to be "tamed", in fact my brows are fine and straight and not very full, and it can't even handle mine that well/keep them exactly in place. And sometimes at the end of the day it looks kind of white? I want to try the clear abh gel next time...
Five kids, twin two year olds. I THRIVE on revenge bedtime procrastination. I have to have some time to decompress, and they wake up the second they hear me up in the morning, so late nights it is.
I feel like my makeup taste has changed drastically in the last year that I literally hate everything I try and I'm so picky!! The last two years I've gotten rid of all my makeup and I've completely started over! It's crazy how much can change.
I'm the same way but feel so guilty getting rid of the eye shadow palletes I have because I don't use them but I spent money on them. One day I'll get there. But I'm so picky now too
I’m glad I’m not the only one who didn’t enjoy the Elf CC cream. It always made my skin look so dry and made dry patches I didn’t even know I had really visible.
@@traceyflater yeah it really isn’t all that great, I guess the only good thing about it is the price. But I don’t see it being a dupe for the IT CC cream like most youtubers claim it is.
I retried out the mascara mentioned and felt the same. It just doesn’t compared to the high end version anymore. I feel like many drugstore brands get it right at the beginning of a dupe type product and then once they get the exposure/sales, they reformulate...
I definitely think mine was a “I learned how to apply it” change: Emily Noel always talked about the Almay brow gel, but I always thought it made my brows too dark when I used it to set my brows after going in with a brow pencil. Then MandyLea talked about how she preferred tinted brow gels alone (no pencil underneath) and I gave that a shot and WOW! I have used the Almay brow gel for weeks just on its own, and it defines the brows, makes them look fuller, but without pencil underneath it doesn’t look overdone or heavy!
Yes, sleep procrastination started while working & going to school, plus I’m naturally a night owl. It turned into years of only 3-4 hours of sleep. Hasn’t been easier, but finally have decent bedtime most days now.

Cerave Hydrating Cleanser was the BEST cleanser out there for my skin. Then they changed the formula and it absolutely sucks now. It bothers me that companies can't leave well enough alone.
Interesting. I thought the equate brand version was slightly better and it hasn't changed I don't think. It is slightly creamier. I just opened a new one that I just got from walmart. It can get old because the bottle is so big so I end up switching them out after about 8 months.
@@sarahjohnson9267 It might have changed before the CeraVe, because I checked the ingredient list on the equate...thought I'd give that a try. Unfortunately it's the same as the CeraVe. I get what you're saying about having to toss them after 8 months. The bottles are so big.
@@bellesgarden9486 Which LRP are you using? I tried the foaming one for combo skin, and it burned. Kinda soured me on the line....but maybe that cleanser was one off for the brand. Of course that was three years ago, so formulas may have changed. Thanks!
Totally agree on the flower beauty. I just recently got it and tried it in a video yesterday and I was so shocked to see how it looked sooooo less pigmented. I applied sooo much and it the color wasn't there. I thought mine was a dud because people loved it so much. Now I know they changed the formula
I have horrible revenge bed time procrastination. I'm a SAHM with three kids so I pretty much have no time for myself during the day. I will sometimes (honestly most times) stay up until 5am or just not go to bed at all. It sucks.
Yep! I’m also a SAHM and the guilt of doing anything for myself during the day is tremendous. As if I’m not worthy until everyone else is accounted for. 😩😩 Mine is 15yo and I still feel this way!
🙌🏻 same. The hubby doesn't understand why I can't sleep. One I have problems sleeping and 2 at night when my daughter and he goes to bed that's the only time I get to myself really. Sometimes I take a shower and most of the time I just watch something.
OMG YES to the L'oreal Lash Paradise!! That mascara used to be my ride or die and I found one that I had never opened (still in the package) and it's not the same as what I remember. It used to give me crazy volume and make my lashes look beautiful and now it does nothing. It also flakes! I don't get it!
I didn’t like the Milani baked highlighter because I thought it didn’t show up, but now I love it for a soft glow. It’s not really fair to expect it to perform like Ofra highlighters lol
Jessica, the grow brow serum works! I actually started watching you a long time ago for your brow routine cause I also have light/sparse brows. I've been using the serum for about a month now and my brows have completely changed- it's insane!!!! Thank you for the line on that product Life changing
I'm in the same boat with the Elf CC cream! I gave it one last run yesterday, and I'm just really really disappointed in how it wears on my skin. Makes me look super dry and textured and it breaks up on me, too!
I got the flower beauty blush bombs this month on your recommendation and I absolutely adore them!! I will say pinched sheets out more than nectar but they last on me all day and show up just fine 😍
When mascaras dry out(if they're not really old)just add a couple drops of eye drops or contact solution. I do this as needed so I can actually use up the entire mascara. It refreshes them & makes them as good as new! 😊
I used to love this and I think it changed it’s definitely not worth it! Almost from the start it’s too dry already! I’ve discovered lash sensational by maybelline ! Love it!
I feel the same about the elf cc cream. I really liked the IT Cosmetics cc cream and I thought it would be a dupe... I was so wrong. Another product that I loved overtime was the Loreal true match concealer. Initially I thought it was very sheer but eventually I noticed that it made my under eyes look healthy, luminous and awake without looking heavy or accentuate my lines or dark circles. I find that concealers are all so different, it takes a minute for me to decide if I like them. For example the It Cosmetics concealer...it is thick, but once u warm it bw your fingers it has awesome coverage, and I don’t need to set it. Great for mature eyes.
Yes! I think lash paradise has changed too! I’ve went through three tubes and the fourth one I repurchased kept flaking in my eyes. I figured I just got a bad one🤷♀️
I'm loving the random upload schedule! I don't realize I need my Jess fix until my notification pops up! I'm not coming for you on the Elf CC. I didn't like it from the get go...but to each their own. I used to love Maybelline Age Rewind concealer but I feel it's changed. Drier...but that may be because I've gotten used to Elf's hydrating one. Curious...I call them bumble bees also (the big fluffy ones) but I'm hearing people call them "wood bees" & I don't know why & neither do they!
I’m into a dewy finish now. I cannot stand matte foundations. Although I have a combination skin type, I feel it is much easier to correct a bit of shine than having to fix an oily mess that matte foundations can become when they can break up so badly.
I had the same experience last time I bought Lash Paradise! I'm glad to know I'm not alone. I like a drier mascara formula, but man it flaked really bad!
I agree with the Flower Beauty blush bomb! I still have my original Pinched so I purchased another color today. It is way more sheer. I watched swatch videos from the time when they launched and the formula is definitely different.
Cle de peau concealer was the most disappointing purchase ever...until I figured it out. Birthday splurge on sale blah blah looked AMAZING when the sales counter applied it and got home excited but it settled into my lines (37f here) and I was so sad but didn’t return it cause I don’t know I was embarrassed or I was still new to makeup and skincare and thought it was my fault or something. Flash forward and I love it. The fact that it stays kinda greasy is awesome because I can reset it through the day. I do a little mist (usually in the walkin cooler at the restaurant I work at) and pat it back down and it LASTS. Same tube has lasted me forever too because the coverage is so good I barely need any.
I agree with so many of your ratings and reviews on makeup you've changed your mind about! I thought it was just me with my Flower blush bomb "pinched" shade (which I do still love), but I noticed lately I'm applying a little powder blush over it to enhance color and make it last longer. Loreal Lash Paradise used to be one of my HGs, but lately it just seems too dry and hard to apply for my liking. I have a theory that due to the huge selection of awesome quality drugstore makeup that has been released just in the past couple years, there are new products that have surpassed the original "most loved" items. PS the brow growth serum I have been using for the past few years has absolutely transformed my formerly sparse brows into brows that have substance, and I love them now! I can use brow tint products (currently loving a new NYX one) and they look fantastic, whereas before when my brows were still sparse, tints looked not so good on me.
I liked the elf camo cream at first as well. After a bit of use I realized I didn’t like it at all, 3 hours in my makeup looked awful. Nice to see it wasn’t just me❤️ Love your videos btw, I get my coffee and watch everytime❤️
I absolutely agree with the tinted brow gel. My brows were super light until I started using Grande Brow (because of you lol.) The tinted gels always seemed to get all over my skin rather than the hairs. Now that they are darker and more full, I feel like the gel actually does what its supposed to, and is especially great on quick, lighter makeup days.
Hi Jess....I like these videos because you give me great ideas for new products. I have been loving Maybelline Falsies Lashlift in Ultra Noir. I don’t hear much about it anymore, but I tried it again and really like it. All the mascaras I’ve been trying all make my lashes look the same. But this Lashlift really does lift my lashes (I don’t need to curl my lashes)...this stuff works great❣️🥰💯
Yes to the elf cc cream!!! I recommended it to a couple of my friends at first and after a few wears i was like wait.. this doesn’t look very good. Idk if it was the hype that got me thinking it was good!
Me too !! I even ordered it (and the putty primer) and sent it to my sister. I can’t even wear it. Looks like shit. Maybe I will try and make a tinted moisturizer out of it
I used to hate the idea of matte liquid lipsticks but now I find that it's the only thing I want to wear for lip colors other than my sheer glitter lip plumpers. When I want a color, I want it to stay and not smear all over me, my fiance or my kids and I don't want to worry about checking the mirror every 5 minutes. The sheer lip plumpers are great for daily wear since they soothe my lips when I wear them and the liquid lipsticks are great for feeling more put together everyday or dressing up. I've got a pretty minimal collection and have currently been buying and decluttering things I want to try and things I don't like. 🙃
The product I keep going back and forth on is the It Cosmetics concealer. I used to hate it because I never used any kind of powder but when I learned that you just need the tiniest amount and that you Have to set it, it’s now my go to concealer.
Products I didn’t like at first but that ended up turning into my holy grails: 1. Mac strobe cream- gold lights 2. Benefit Wattsup cream highlighter 3. Too Faced Born This Way foundation 4. It cosmetics Cc cream- original formula 5. Girgio Armani setting powder 6. Benefit Hoola bronzer 7. Mac lip liners 8. Urban decay all nighter setting spray 9. Lancôme Monsiure Big Lashes mascara (I think that’s what it’s called, it’s black packing with pink font) These are products that I bought after always seeing you tubers rave about them, and they’re products that didn’t impress me and ended up sitting in my makeup collection for.. months. Okay I lied, they sat in my collection for years 🤭🤦🏼♀️ but I slowly started using them all again and now they’re products that I use EVERY time I do my makeup. Products that I still re-purchase when I get low on them 😂 The Mac strobe cream is gorgeous on its own or under foundation, the benefit cream highlighter seems underwhelming until you step outside into natural lighting and then your face just lights up with the most stunning glow. The ItCosmetics CC cream?!? HOW DID IT TAKE ME SO LONG to realize how AMAZING it is?! Looks stunning on my dry skin and lasts really well! The Lancôme mascara is one I HATED at first because it’s a large wand and I have hooded eyes so wands like that are tricky and the formula was so wet at first. But a few months later, I tried it again and literally fell in LOVE. Gives so much volume to my lashes without clumping then and it lasts well with my oily eyelids, I just prefer the formula once it’s dried up a bit. Benefit hoola was just burning to me for a Kong time but then I realized I was only reaching for it, instead of my other bronzers. It blends beautifully and looks gorgeous as a bronzer or a contour, depending on how pale or tan I am. Born this way foundation is a holy grail, I’ve now purchased 4 of them 🤭 only took it a year and a half of sitting in my collection, un-used, before I realized how stunning it is when applied with a beauty blender. These are some of my fav products! I just didn’t like any of them at first 😂
I wasn't a big fan of the sky high mascara. I liked the length but it did nothing for volume then I paired it with the Eyeko black magic mascara and now I'm in love with that combo
a long term affect of revenge bedtime procrastination is sundowners depression. Happens a lot as a symptom of SAD. its when you stay up late because you feel like there wasn't enough time in the day to do what you wanted or you feel like you'll miss out on something if you go to bed. I experience this a lot, but proper medication, diet and vitamins have helped.
I didn't like any foundations from Mac but recently I purchased the Face and Body Foundation and it's amazing, stays all day and doesn't dry my skin.😍💕
I feel the same way about Elf cc cream and the lash paradise. I liked them at first, but I’ve tried a few other things that I liked better and phased it out. I actually love that the flower blush is more sheer now!

I would say my tastes in how I do my makeup in general changed over the years. I moved away from REALLY unflattering, over-filled, blocky brows, heavy foundation that was never quite a match, and super dense rainbow eyeshadows (that were NOT well-blended) to much softer, more my-skin-but-make-it-ethereal-goddess-glowy makeup that people compliment often. I still enjoy a dramatic and colorful eye look here and there, but now I execute them better. So no more heavy, full-coverage matte foundations for me (sorry, Revlon Colorstay!), no more three-plus coats of Too Faced Lash Injection. But I definitely gained an appreciation for brow products, cream products, and lip glosses over the years!

I have done that for YEARRRRs,,, that bedtime procrastination. It's like I finally get to do something I want to do (watch movies, listen to music, etc.) I am tired during the day, but at night, I wake up all of a sudden...
Makes sense! I think sometimes you rush to say you like or don't like something before you have actually thoroughly tested it. I noticed you sometimes say you don't like something for example because "it pills", without thinking about what else you may have on your face that could be the culprit. Just something I have noticed over the years. :)
RBP is me EVERY night since lockdown! I never knew it was an actual thing. Also, I love this idea for a video. I alway feel guilty if I change my mind on a product. Especially if I’ve recommended a product or if I’ve told someone not to bother with one. 🤐
Oddly, from day one (the year it launched), the Lash Paradise ALWAYS flaked on me. The waterproof version, however, is amazing and definitely a go-to for nights out and special occasions!
I used to hate the Armani Luminous Silk foundation. I didn't think it wore well on me, overall wasn't flattering. Now I'm so impressed with how skin-like it looks, it wears beautifully for my 10+ hour days at work, doesn't rub off on my mask too much, and still looks good even when it's wearing off a little. I **LOVED** the Hourglass Extreme Caution mascara. It gave beautiful lashes, length and volume. And then I developed an allergy to it. 😭😭

The one product I changed my mind about was the ABH Brow Wiz. I really wasn’t impressed when I first tried them, but when I finally found the right colour for me, I discovered I loved them! I also for a very long time didn’t get the hype about Beauty Blenders, but I cannot do my foundation without one now!
You have to try the elf brow wow. That’s one of the best tinted brow gels and most versatile. Try the neutral brown one. Quickest and easiest brow gel ever.
Agree on the change of formular of the Lash Paradise mascara - used to be my hold grail, but then I got one which was very dry and flakey. I put in 4-5 eyesdrops and that helped a lot.

I agree once lash paradise . Was a fave for me but started flaking no matter if it was a new tube or not. I juat getting lashes done now because I spend enough on mascaras anyway and it's a time saver not to have to put it on and take it off at the end of the day 🤷🏻♀️
L’Oréal Power Volume 24hr mascara used to be my favorite thing in the world. I was OBSESSED with it. Then they changed both the brush and the formula and now it’s not the same as it used to be. A product I used to love but now hate is the Nyx Lip Lingeries. I used to have a ton of them and wore them religiously in college, but then I realized they were drying out my lips way too much and after an hour or two, my lips would be cracked and super dry and the formula would oxidize horribly. I tried balms, primers, scrubs, everything I could to try to fix the dryness on my lips, but then I realized the problem was those Lip Lingeries. I haven’t worn them in years and I do not miss them at all.
I used to hate/fear bronzer. I have cool fair skin and couldn't find one that wasn't a dark brown orange mess. Thanks to you, Taylor Wynn, Stephanie Marie, and Allie Glines I have been able to find a few that work for me.
I do have that revenge bed procrastination. As a mom I feel it’s my unwind time. I do watch RU-vid videos at night. The product I use to love but changed my mind about is the L’Oréal Bambi mascara. It’s a pretty mascara. It just does take some building up to get it to the false lash look. I also feels it dries out too fast. The essence lash princess I just build up twice and I love my lashes. The Bambi mascara just takes a lot of building
Too faced born this way foundation! I’d loved it for a solid two years and then I don’t know what happened! It started clinging to dry patches and breaking apart. No longer buy it and now only wear misha bb cream.
100% agree with you on the elf cc cream. ick. I also have that ana luisa ring! I was surprised it felt so... high quality! Don't know how else to describe, lol. Love it!
