A small tribute to the many, many musicians from all genres that we lost in 2021. [[FIXED VERSION]] Backing track: "Sea of Ancestry" by Jesse Gallagher From the RU-vid Free Library
…and ‘22 is carrying right along. Ian McDonald (King Crimson, Foreigner); perhaps a Forgotten Fretmaster as he’s a multi instrumentalist. Thanks for your captivating productions.
That was not only very tasteful, but also educational. I had to watch a second time and stop to look up those that I'd not heard of before. Thank you for the lesson.
Very good, very well put together. Sad to see the loss of drumming greats Charlie Watts and Graeme Edge (Moody Blues), jazz great Chick Corea, 1950s greats Don Everly and Jimmie Rodgers. Phil Spector? Yes, a convicted murderer, but he was a music producer giant of the 1960s and 1970s. Damn, it sucks losing more and more (and MORE) music greats as the years pass. For me, the most painful loss was and still is the passing of Tom Petty. It still hurts.
thank you and may their God go with them with love for the music they all made, one thing as a person with very poor sight, very difficult to read text, perhaps put a black panel behind text, as utube controls block low text on screen when you pause to try and read, OneLove Jay Cambridge
Here it is 2023 and I didn't even realize some of these people died. I was into Nanci Griffith's music for a bit and saw her live I think 3 times. I lost track of her though.
I have one complaint. Jimmie Rogers "The Singing Brakeman" of C&W fame. Died long ago, in 1933. He was my step dads hero. I went to his Museum in Meridian Mississippi (When I worked there back in 1980), bought the old man an envelope with his stamp & 1st day cancellation. The old man almost broke into tears, believe me he was a huge dude. You may be thinking of the Jimmie Rogers of Blues fame. I had an album by him on Leon Russell's Shelter Records, but I just found he died 1997. I know the C&W Rogers died of TB, in 1933. His early death is a big factor in his legend, IMO. There was a Pop singer Jimmy Rogers who died in Jan 2021 at age 87 of kidney failure. Besides that great tribute.
The Jimmie Rodgers who died in 2021 was a pop singer, not the "Father of Country Music," who died in 1933. The picture and caption you have here are for the latter artist.
@@TheGuitarHistorian The picture is of Jimmie Rodgers, "The Singing Brakeman" not the "Honeycomb" singer...turns out the younger was born the year the elder died, but they were of no direct relation. You did a fine, fine job -- as usual -- BUT (don't you hate that there's always a damn "but" attached?!)... Nah, that was all. If you haven't yet (I'm just too lazy to check right this minute...) you should really do a bit on Pat Martino. Damn fine guitarist...TWICE!
