i liked this film as much as Now Voyager and Dark Victory......a big part of the dialogue was actually done with their eyes, spoken with a look in their eyes .....and to this day she is still the greatest actress of all time and no one can touch her......there is Bette Davis and then there is everyone else......i loved the little boy in this movie and he was so southern and i loved to hear him say MAMSEL

Under-rated Bette Davis classic. Barbara O'Neill was amazingly beautiful and this film takes her beauty and gives it glittering hardness like some cold hard gem.

There is no other actress that could portray a woman scorned, a woman with a terminal illness, a Jezebel, a twin sister that steals her dead sisters husband, and of course a cruel twisted sister that loved I've written a letter to daddy, need I go on. BD could act so well we actually believed she was indeed the leading role of a film, at least, I did. There will never be another sassy BD.

This movie sure skewed the truth. The wife wasn't horrible. And she was murdered by her husband. Nothing at all fine or noble about him. As to the 'affair', who knows? But he got tired of her after she bore him 10 children by the time she as 32. And then he murdered her. Good movie, but not the truth of the Duc and Duchess de Praslin,

To clarify what happened when Davis tried to have Boyer removed from the studio: They had never met before. When Boyer arrived without his corset, hairpiece and elevator shoes, Davis assumed that he was some layabout who had come to watch the movie being filmed. She called for him to be removed, but she was then informed that the layabout was her costar.

Dassoon Fitz - As I watched the movie," All This And Heaven Too." She had not worked with Charles Boyer before but was THRILLED to recognize his TALENT. Most actors feel better when they are working opposite of those that are their EQUAL. Check out Meryl Streep discussing her leading men. One particular note she mentioned while working with Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin - she mentioned "One she liked but the other she doesn't." She wouldn't say which one to 20/20 when they asked her. I believe one of her best leading actors is Robert DeNiro who is wonderful opposite Meryl. Check out - "Deer Hunter," "Falling In Love," and the other is "Marvin's Closet." She also enjoy working opposite other great actors and actresses who are serious about their craft.

What is this Bette Davis removing an actor like Charles Boyer are you kidding? I can't imagine her doing something like that since she acted with others she couldn't stand like, "Miriam Hopkins" who she worked with twice and she didn't remove her from those films like, "Old Maid" and "Old Acquaintance."
@PinkySaadia
@PinkySaadia 10 лет назад
what do you mean removed? what happened?
@angelacarleton9575
@angelacarleton9575 10 лет назад
PinkySaadia I meant to say - Bette Davis was "thrilled" to be working with Charles Boyer who was her equal compared to others like George Brent who couldn't hold his own with Bette Davis. Bette Davis was a force of nature when acting with other actors. She would never remove another actor from a movie. She had clout but had good manners!
@angelacarleton9575
@angelacarleton9575 10 лет назад
Angela Carleton Also - she helped the director of this movie "All This And Heaven Too" because he was having trouble trying to keep the movie over-budget. She had the talent to be a director but her loved of acting was #1. She helped this director to focus and maintain the storyline by assisting him when he needed help. She was experience by the time she made this move and the director was a new-director who later stated was thrilled to get her advise.

why did davis try to have boyer removed from the set of this movie? okay, so she did not recognise him but, even so, why would a "star" lilke davis (now a bag of bones) do this to another human? THIS MOVIE FEELS A BIT LIKE REBECCA, THE DAPHNE DU MAURIER STORY THAT WAS ALSO FILMED.
