FluffyFin127 same. 😂😂. i have alot of wishlist now. last week i saw alot of Nancy drew collection. and i love nancy drew(i only have 1 though). so this is a problem now😂😂
Top YA standalone: The Book Thief. I can't explain how much love I this book. The range of emotions that it takes me through is like nothing else. The pain, loss, joy, fear, and hope. I felt everything. Adult standalone: The Great Gatsby. One of the very few books I reread. I will always love Jay Gatsby, and I'm very glad school made me read this book.
Subbed. I can see that you enjoy what you're doing. It's contagious or something or maybe because I'm also a bookworm and I feel what you're feeling when you're talking about a book. You can definitely charmspeak anyone to read the book you're talking about. I even caught myself smiling. 😂❤️
emmmabooks Now that I think about it, you're like Piper McLean from HOO series. At first I didn't think we would sync but eventually I started loving you. ♥
I can't remember if you've read Simon vs the Homo Sapiens Agenda or not, but it's my favorite standalone! The Hate U Give is definitely on my list also.
Totally relate to FanGirl!! Everything you said was on point YES THUG THUG THUG - I had no idea there was a spin off coming!!! GAH!!! Can't wait for the movie! I loved Every Last Word! Such a great story!! Night Film was my favourite book of 2016!! I loved Made You Up! I thought it was so well done! This Song Will Save Your Life is one of my favourites as well!! YOU LISTED SO MANY OF MY FAVS YAS!!!!
All the bright places is my favorite stand alone ever it made me cry so much and i related to both characters violet and finch it was so beautiful and amazing 😭😍
i love this kind of videos because you see booktubers get all excited and smiley with stars in their eyes while they talk about their favourite books. truly a pleasure to watch.
I bought this song will save your life because of you and I loved it so much. Elise and I had so much in common and I'm so thankful that I had the experience to read the book (it is one of my all time favorites too). Did you read the Book Thief by Markus Zusak because that book changed my life, I read it months ago and I still think about it every day.
Fangirl was such a beautiful experience for me. I felt so connected to the main character because we have soooo many similarities. I just loved every thing about that book.❤
So I didn't know there was a community of book lovers on RU-vid, I always felt the books in my collection were personal. I picked them specifically and hearing how Emma speaks of these books makes me feel like someone understands the power books can have and how they can really help someone. I've never been so happy to hit subscribe
the only book i've read off this list is fangirl and i adore that book so much! definitely going to add the others to my tbr list because the way you talked about them with such enthusiasm, has made me definitely want to pick them up!
I've said this before... your passion for books is what keeps me watching. I love how you talk about Books, it makes me want to get all of them even the ones I'm not interested in!
a lot of my favorite books I have read because of you. Thank you Emma, for introducing me to all of these amazing books that have become very close to me. Here are a few - City of Bones - Every Last Word - The Silence of Six - This Song Will Save Your Life - A List of Cages - Under Rose-Tainted Skies
Hey emma So i read every book that u mentioned. And u know wt! I loved them all And i m so thankful to you for introducing me to such amazing pieces of work ! Love !
I love your recommendations because I have struggled with mental health issues and reading was my companion too. It helps to get recs from people who have gone through a similar thing :D
One of the things I love most about books is that they're anchors for people when they need it most. Just like you, some of my all time favorite standalones/series are my favorite because of how they helped me in high school and my experience with them ♥️
I just read Under Rose-Tainted Skies, and it's been an amazing journey. I too would put it on my list of all time favorite standalones. I love hearing you talk about it so passionately! I've been raving about it.
History is all you left me DESTROYED ME. I'm not over that book. I'm re-reading that book and crying all over again. It tugs at my heart in ways I just couldn't imagine. I'm about to start the Hate you give and hopefully I'll learn as many things as you did.
i'm planning on reorganizing my shelves in the coming months when i get a few more, my latest one is from november and truthfully, not much has changed hahah i will be doing one once i get new shelves though!
Thank you so much for this list! Starting a series can be so intimidating which keeps me from starting to read anything at all. I will definitely be checking some of these if not all of these out!!
My TBR just got bigger by 8 books XD. The only one I've read on here is Fangirl, and I honestly love that book so much. It was the first YA contemperary book I've ever read, and after reading multiple others it remains my favorite.
I love seeing you so excited and passionate about books, and you've inspired me to add several of these to my TBR! I really need to read more standalones.
Fangirl is definitely one of my all time favorite standalones! I read The Hate U Give last month and I loved it! I didn't know it was getting a spinoff sequel but I'm so excited for that! Hearing you talk about Every Last Word in a past video definitely motivated me to read it and I'm so glad I did because I really enjoyed it. I've heard fantastic things about Under Rose Tainted Sky and I need to read it. History Is All You Left Me is another favorite of mine! I'm so glad that we don't have to wait a full year for Adam's next book.
Jeez, it feels so good to see you talking about This Song Will Save Your Life, it almost made me cry, because this book literally changed me (and saved me) and my whole life. ♥ I'm so happy you liked it and so happy you found the meaning of it! Thank you for this video
Omg I've read This Song Will Save Your Life such a long time ago and it was definitely a good book for me. Now I definitely need to reread it because I miss it so much and I definitely want to visit that story again! I'm so glad you loved it!!
I didn't know about The Hate U Give getting a spin-off book! OMG I'm so happy! I do know that the film is being directed by a POC which makes me super happy! History is the next book I'm going to read, I'm so excited!
You are my favorite booktuber because I have the same taste as you. Started made you up last week because you recommended it in another video and it's so good! I want to read all the books on this list!! My wallet gets smaller every time I watch your videos haha thank you for taking the time to make this video :)
I love My Lady Jane, The Lovely Reckless, The Unexpected Everything, The Hate U Give, and The Female of the Species. The Female of the Species is such an important book, just like The Hate U give is. I highly recommend it! It is also a really quick read but it will make you cry. But it is SO important.
Every time I see that you've uploaded a new video, no matter what it's about, I always get so happy. I love your videos so much and you're honestly my inspiration
i love the way you talk about things and how excited you are! you make me want to pick up books that i never would have thought i'd be interested in :)
Great video! Have even more standalones to add to my TBR! I am on such a contemporary kick and need more standalones so thank you so much for this video!
And my booktopia cart grows... but seriously thank you Emma for talking about mental health books, because they're no mentioned a lot. Also I love your makeup so much.
Thank you so much for making this video and for sharing a bit more of your story with us! I've got a few of these on my TBR already but definitely excited to get more recommendations since stand-alone books seem to be so rare 🙁
I recently finished Under Rose-Tainted Skies and I loved it so much! That ending was just amazing. I was like, "YOU CAN DO IT NORA!" And I wanna read Made You Up so badly.
When I first read Night Film I absolutely HATED it. It took me about a year to actually digest it after I had finished it. It's now one of my favourite books ever. You're the first person I've heard talk about it besides my boss who actual recommended it to me (I work at a bookstore). Glad you're getting it out there. It deserves more popularity! :)
I love that when I went to amazon and added Made You Up to my wishlist, the other two recommendations were Every Last Word and Under Rose Tainted Skies.
I just bought 'This song will save your life' and I was going to save it for later, but after you said this defenitely it will be my next read! I really love your videos, Emma! And like to know about mental health books. I don't know yet what exactly is wrong with me, but I like to read books like those you mentioned because sometimes I identify with the charachters and then I kinda understand what's happening. I really appreciate you talk so openly about this topic. Thanks a lot, Emma!!
I really like your videos because most booktube personas I've seen usually use the same books, but you use books I've never heard of most of the time. I really want to start my own channel because I have so many favorite YA novels that most people probably haven't heard of.
One Of Us Is Lying is so freaking amazing !!! I just finished it yesterday and it brought up some topics that aren't usually talked about and the character development is just so great and amazing like ugh you NEED to read it!
I adore The Hate U Give and Every Last Word; both such important books. I definitely want to read Fangirl, A List of Cages, Under Rose Tainted Skies, History is All You Left Me, Made You Up, and This Song Will Save Your Life! Loved this video!💗
I'm reading The Hate U Give right now and I love it! I didn't know I'd find it so funny despite how real and relevant it is! The way everyone spoke about it seemed as if it would be a primarly heavy novel due to its themed but I love it. I definitely agree with you!
I just read Fangirl in March and woah, I can't believe I waited as long as I did to read it! It was so good! Also, I picked up The Hate U Give yesterday after watching you rave about it and OMG! THANK YOU SO MUCH! I'm halfway through and already fully in love with it! It really is changing my perspective on everything that has been happening lately.
Amazing list as usual Emma, really need to read the Night Film ASAP. One of my fav stand alones was Boys Don't Cry which dealt with being a teen father and it was amazing.
'Faceless' is AMAZING, 'Holding Up the Universe' is really good too, 'After the Fire' is fantastic and so thrilling and gripping. Also the 'Frost Blood' series is beautiful and just so amazing, it's really well written. I highly recommend all these books! ❤️
I just thought of filming a favorite standalones video then you posted this! perfect. Fangirl will always be a favorite because I have similar social anxiety and I just love that book!
When there are 17 copies of 'The Hate You Give' in your local libraries and only 2 available for borrowing. Dang!! I need to get my butt there after I finish my current reads!! One of which is The Upside of Unrequited!! Your eyes and face absolutely portray your love for A List of Cages. So much so that I NEED TO READ IT. Your passion shows through and I honestly thought you might cry talking about it.
Well you already included my all-time favorite Fangirl. I also have Song of Achilles that I recently read and loved soooo much, Eleanor & Park, Carry On, The Sun is also A Star. Those are just a few I can list off the top of my head
I LOVE This Song Will Save Your Life. I randomly picked it up without hearing anything about it..& I ended up finishing it in 1 night. It felt like the author was talking about me.. I've never related to a book so much before
My favorite standalone of all time is probably Wintergirls, first I read it when I was nine or something and was like 'well, not bad, but not outstanding either'. Then, when I got older, I suffered from different mental problems including an eating disorder, and I reread Wintergirls when I was 14 and I was mind blown. 99% of Lia was legit me. I admit that I kind of used it to trigger me in the darker days of my ED, but being in recovery I can see that the book is actually about Lia's way to genuinely wanting and receiving treatment. Now I also can appreciate the way it's written so much more than when I was younger, just all these little details in Laurie Anderson's writing style, since I read it in German when I was younger and that didn't really come through in the translation. Now my copy is full of pencil lines and notes, I underlined so many quotes that meant a lot to me and I can really only recommend it to everyone, just make sure that you are in the right mindset reading it and that your recovery is at a stable point if you have an ED so it doesn't trigger you too much.
I've got like one week left of exams. My tbr list has reached over 40 and your channel is making me miss reading so much but I can't wait to read some of these books 😁
