Stefano, penso che il gerundio abbia anche un altro significato, ma non sono sicuro. Potrebbe essere utilizzato per dire come raggiungere uno scopo. Ti dò un esempio: ``Guadagneresti molto denaro vendendo la tua casa.`` È corretto o mi sbaglio?
