All Whispers and Voices in the In Between Realm Analyzed 

I didn't even notice Luz's cape getting damaged after leaving The In Between Realm! Honestly with it's goopy aesthetic and vibes it kind of reminds me of how Eda's curse affects magic & the environment around her. Maybe they're connected? Maybe it's a stretch? This hiatus is gonna be fun 😭

They hide a lot of backwards audio in Gravity Falls and The Owl house. A lot of the times if you are having difficulty trying to figure out what was said, you should try listening to it in reverse. The in between dimension seems like exactly the kind of place that they would hide cryptic information like that

Something I'd like to point out is that the liquid in the Inbetween Realm messes with Luz's cape but only stains her shoes. Even if the Inbetween isn't necessarily magical, maybe it can affect magical things.

I did not hear the whispers at all in that episode. So when I saw a video talking about the whispers, that scene in the “In between” realm added much more chills knowing there’s voices that whisper in there. It’s great to see you talk about this, because I feel like those whispers have to be important somehow in someway

i think these whispers was the collector because they're trapped in the in between. they're lonely and want someone to play with, and also want to be freed. it makes sense

Here me out: I think the liquid that is in the in between realm destroys magic. That’s why Luz’s cape is tattered since it’s magic and that’s why the glyphs don’t work there. But her shoes are still intact just dyed.

When Luz puts down the glyph it sounds like "No ice here" at least that's what I heard. The glyph is an ice spell.

It should be noted that the whisper just before Luz calls her mom at the end of the episode was actually included in the subtitles

I love all the little hidden details in this show. I love watching stuff where you can tell the crew really care about what they're making.

I was kinda surprised by the whole "the materials were actually easy to find" thing. I wonder if it didn't work bc Luz misinterpreted them, or maybe Philip encoded his notes about them? Like I can't be the only one thinking there's no way the actual ingredients (besides titan's blood) to a portal between worlds is just like a couple brooms and pieces of paper and a weird doll with a hanger through its head etc, right?

what the hell, I did NOT expect these to sound so terrifying! Now the fact that Luz was there without knowing that someone or something was there whispering sends chills to my spine.

In a way the In-Between is a crossroads between worlds, and I've heard that crossroads have their own magic. Whatever is in there, I wonder if they have physical forms, or are just spirits.

Maybe its the voices of the friends and family Phillip/Belos said he lost in a previous attempt to open the portal.

I would like to believe that the one heard when luz first enters the inbetween is a laugh at luz's struggle and her coughing

Considering the cubes pop into existence with some of the whispers I think those whispers are saying the names of people those cubes belong to.

Very interesting that the in-between was "eating" Luz's cloak. Maybe that explains why things from Earth make it to the demon realm all the time, but the only stuff that seems to make the reverse trip is what is carried through more intentional portals... I wonder if Luz had made the mistake of bringing a witch or palisman with her, if the "liquid" of the In Between would have harmed them?

I found it interesting that when Luz first went through the portal she was on this one side and anytime she said a witches name it would go out of the floor, but when she wanted to see anyone in the human realm it flipped upside down and they all floated out of that side, and when Luz got out of the portal the top dragged her back to the side she originally came out of. Almost like the two realms are reflections of each other

Back at Eclipse lake there were trees surrounding the dried up lake, I'm wondering if they've soaked up the Titan's blood infused water and could be used as materials for another portal door. As well as using one of the Galdorstones to boost the magical charge when making said portal door.

It's interesting that Luz never notices these whispers. Even in moments when she's not talking and nothing else is making noise. From our perspective the music is getting in the way, but it wouldn't be for her. Could it be that it's just inaudible to her the way natural glyphs are invisible to witches?

Ok maybe the whispers of the between the rhleam are from the people of earth and boiling isles judging by the way Luz figured out how exactly to use the cubes to see access of the rhleams

Important announcement of the Third season of The Owl House The Owl House has been renewed for a shortened 3rd season. We want at least another full season length!! Dana posted on Twitter that we will be getting a short season containing just 3 special length episodes; the equivalent of 6 normal episodes. It is confirmed that this will be the last season. This was NOT Dana's choice; she had been hoping for a normal 10-20 episode pickup, and not expecting a cancellation. As The Owl House is one of Disney's most popular currently airing shows, my speculation is that this cancellation was brought on by budget constraints due to COVID-19 and the inability to run the Disney parks. Dana tweeted that if we want to see the show continue, TOH merch, or anything else TOH related, snail mail is the way to go. Disney still reads and responds to snail mail. This is an effective way of contacting them. They don't appear to read DMs and emails, presumably due to 1) the sheer number they receive, and 2) the fact that people mailing letters are statistically over 18 and therefore able to earn and spend money (like on, say, cable subscriptions or merch). I wonder if phillip and belos try to build the Portal but ended up into between the worlds or more logical phillip was the first one to attempt on trying to get two the other side but only manage to get in the reflection of the boiling isles then belos and phillip perfected the attempt again but belos betrayed phillip and left him for dead in the between rhleam

And did anyone else knew Luz was thinking of amity when she figured out how to use this cubes I just had to brought it up

I feel like this could be Philip's brother who got trapped here. One of them has been trapped, and upon hearing another voice, he tries to call out. However, his old age(probably extended by magic), has made him barely able to talk. If one of the whispers is saying "Save US" implies there are multiple people, meaning it is probably the people who got lost on the mission for titans blood, and having the some titans blood send them here.

Has anyone else noticed the Luz and her friends each seem to embody one of the four glyphs in one way or another? Luz's name literally means light in Spanish, ice is often a translucent material like one of Gus's illusions, plants are Willow's whole thing, and Amity's fire magic has a unique pink hue. I'm sensing some hidden symbolism here. 💡💎🌼🔥

My theory is that those voices could either be adventures of the passed or those who weren't cautious with powerful magic back when titans blood was common. We have no clue how many other (inhabited) realms there are or how long they (along with earth and the boiling isles) were inhabited for. Magic is defiantly present in other realms (as i dont see a reason why there wouldn't be more) as the magic from the titan would have had to come from somewhere and the number of failed portals or spells would be pretty high.

I’ve got a theory, although I haven’t tested it yet. What if the things the voice is saying is a code? The main ones I can remember were “hello” “keya” and “stay here” most of the “words sort of sounded like sounds more that words, so what if they were just letters? “HKS”? We’ve used the three letters back code before so “ehp” but to be fair I don’t remember all the words or their Oder If anyone wants to try this and see if they can find a result go ahead

The In Between Realm reminds me of the Tunnel from Neil Gaiman's, Coraline, and it's film adaptation. Both are places that link seperate worlds, and may be living organisms (I'm only speculating on the In-Between until proven otherwise). I also believe that the realm may be carnivorous (thus the holes in the cloak), similar to how the Tunnel tries to devour Coraline.

The cape makes me think that she was in a place that could be a stomach of something. Of course that wouldn't make sense, I'm aware of that. It just gives me that vibe, the voice telling her to stay and her magic repelling cape being torn like something was eating up the fabric. It could mean (if it IS a stomach) that it eats magic like a basilisk does and it would explain why it wanted her to stay.

Whoever did this major detail that practically nobody noticed, is so good at voice acting- **How is this part of the episode not part of something Halloween related to the show, whether being released on the holiday or not?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!? SERIOUSLY! THIS PERSON NEEDS TO DO SOMETHING LIKE THIS IN A HAUNTED HOUSE** 😰😰😰😰😨😨😨😨😱😱😱😱

Okay personally I think people got trapped between the realms because they went between realms without a proper doorway. Possibly the same way junk from Earth gets to the Boiling Isles, Titan's Blood ripping holes through the realms, people could've fallen through before/after Belos from either realm really, and gotten stuck.

Crazy Theory: if the green liquid in the In Between realm was capable of being absorbed by the cape, as well as Luz clothes, it probably was absorbed by Luz herself too. Maybe there is a part of this realm inside her now, that’s maybe why the last one is so clear to hear, kinda showing that the whisper was already connected to Luz, subconsciously telling her what to do.

The whispers could be the Collector saying Cheater. Maybe cause he loves games.

If you look carefully, the same discoloration on Luz's tattered cloak is also on her shoes, which to me implies that her shoes are ALSO affected by the strange liquid. If that's the case, then it would imply that magic is not the only thing eaten away by this realm. It may be that materials that are exclusive to each dimension are affected by this place, as if it exists not just to be the space in the middle of two dimensions- but rather a PHYSICAL BARRIER between the dimensions, disallowing things to pass through unless they manage to make a door powerful enough to push all the way through. This could also connect to the day of unity- at this point, we don't know a lot about what it is. But if thr whole point of it is simply to conjoin the human and demon realms, then is there really a downside to it? Even from Luz's perspective, wouldn't that be the best case scenario for her? Well, what if the reason it is such a bad idea to unify the realms is because of this "in between", which if the realms get pulled together, would be able to eat away at BOTH realms, the human AND demon realms, effectively destroying everything. This would be a great way to explain the negative consequences of unifying the worlds, and also allow for the final threat of the series to be something other than what we all expected it to be this whole time.

People assume that Luz has to choose between following through on her promise to her mother or going back to the isle. Like, her mother is probably going to change her mind and if she doesn't then Luz can prove herself to her mother and then go between the isle and Earth, that is assuming they find some way to create a new portal or connect the realms. Also, when Luz is old enough she won't have to hold true to that promise and do as she wish because even though Luz may be her child, Luz is also her own person. With everything the series has set up so far, how do people still think Luz is really never going back to the isle after returning to Earth.

The place actually looks a lot like the realm of magic in Star vs the forces of evil.

To me the whisper after the voice responded with “yes” sounds like it’s saying “take a look” after the camera starts zooming in on the cube showing the owl gang

i just realized when luz said "count to 5" it went to V since her name is actually 5

if this realm can repeat words it hears, then what if the Whittabaine (idk how to spell it) brothers somehow were able to get there. Maybe one of them yelled out "Save us!" And the other was going to explore around and said "stay here". And maybe it has a vague idea of those who go to the realm, which is why it knows Luz.....or something...

Maybe the black liquid eats magic? I mean, the glyph seems to dissolve when Luz tries to use it, like the liquid is dissolving paper. Admittedly, it's a bit of a flimsy idea on its own since we also see the fire glyph turn to ash. However, when added to the fact that the cape was damaged, but Luz's legs and shoes were fine. That combined with the fact that the protective cape had some sort of magic imbued into it when it was yarn, and it seems a bit more likely. If right, that could lead to some new speculations. After all, what happens if someone is stuck there too long? Maybe it turns them into some sort of creature that needs to feed on magic. Like, for example, wild magic from palismans.

I listened to Nat's video (highly recommend it). I would find it interesting if this was the actual Titan, and they're a massive spirit that can only speak through this realm. It doesn’t sound vengeful or commanding like Belos made them out to be - just lonely and mysterious.

I got chills just listen to the voices and I never got them while watching a video not even if they were creepy scare ones

something that's been pointed out by other people before me but that i'd like to say- the cape only starts getting deteriorated as she starts getting pulled back, which is when the portal started falling apart. In all the other scenes with Luz, the cape looks to be completely fine... not sure what this means, but it's very interesting, isn't it?

But what I think is interesting is that her pants and shoes aren't damaged but only her cape and the cape is magic so just like her glyphs it doesn't work in the in-between but what happens if a witch or a Demon go's in-between will they die 😱 or do they dissolve 😨

I think one of the sides of the in between is connected to the demon realm (owl house crew and amity come out of this side) the other must be connected to the human realm (Camila and Vee come from that side. The cube that Luz rides from one side to the other may represent someone passing from the demon realm to the human realm. Does that mean the emporer belos made it too the human realm? Who else could it be?

I know it could just be for dramatic effect, but the fact that the glyphs crumble to pieces when activated in a realm without titan magic to power them is something I find intriguing. That seems to imply that the glyphs are more than just drawings even on Earth and in the In Between.

Honestly I think the human realm represents a neutral space for magic, it's uncommon but we've seen magic works there - besides glyphs - then the Isles represents a full to bursting magic environment, all of this leads to the reflection realm which I think represents a space of negative magic that eats away at things like the cloak, which is enchanted with magic.

The whispers for when she was looking in to the cubes sounded more like let's take a look for me

I love the detail that all the cubes for the isles are on one side and the ones for the human realm were at the top, so she needed to get up to it before she could see the cubes from the human side

what i heard in the episode and when luz first gets to the in-between was "Hey..... Cheater....." (perhaps she wasn't meant to ever be there or its calling her a cheater for trying to make a new door or perhaps its the collector since she wasn't trapped there like them) you can here cheater quite a bit from there on out and when luz mentions amity it sounds like it goes to say "Girlfriend"

Another theorist and I on the TOH discord actually did some work to decipher what we thought we heard: (This is a rough translation) ?: hello, child. (Unsure) I, see (or item) (possibly EYE KEY) Luz: did i do something wrong? Eda, king, hooty, can anyone hear me? ?: yes, child (Luz in toh window scene) Luz: i wonder if i could see, amity! ?:cackh (or could be come) L: No no no, come on luz, you're on a mission. Camila, camila noceda from the human realm ?: noceda Luz: got ya, ice platform! ?: stay here (or child) Luz: Fine then, ill do this the hard way ?: stay [screams] ?: (cannot decipher at the moment - possibly noceda? or see?(at 0.5 speed it sounds like 'si' something)) [gasps] Luz: Mom! ?: Noceda L: Luz Noceda 2.0. Doppelganger! Why won't you work? ?: stay here L: Okay, Luz. Calm down. Just breathe and count to five. [Splashing] ?: So sad

The finale shows that only maybe a third of the key's titan blood content was truly required to make the functional door. However, Luz received half of the key's blood which then distributed I presume evenly among the glove's 5 fingers, and with even more on the palm. This shows that Luz truly gave the portal an amount of titan blood much smaller than this hypothetical requirement, maybe like 1/16, potentially causing it to be malfunctional

What if the whispering heard in the in between is from the missing brother. Maybe one of them was lost in the in between and that is why you hear the voice saying save us.

Perhaps the reason her cloak was tattered was because the goop there feeds on magic and itsms that hold magic. If a witch were to go in there, I'm sure they would not have a great time. It works sort of like a basilisk.

WAIT!!!!!! I Know the answer to this one, strangely from another RU-vid video about Coraline - the book the movie was based on. I originally thought the realm of mirrors was a reference to CS Lewis's The Magician's Nephew, where they use magic rings to travel to The Woods Between the Worlds and The Hall of Doors in Rayman 2. But the whispers changes EVERYTHING!!! In the book, the tunnel that Coraline travels through to get from one world to another is described as a living tunnel that tries to keep her there by lengthening and shortening, and as she passes through it she thinks she hears whispers urging her to stay. It's extremely Lovecraftian and I love the addition of this detail sooooo much. It also explains why Luz's cloak started to disintegrate: She's literally in the belly of a beast.
