Technology’s pervasiveness and impact, and the economic mobility for tech creators, demand that all people drive the future of tech. Yet social injustice prevents the participation of women, especially minoritized women, who represent less than 5% of the tech workforce.
We propose a paradigm shift to increase women’s participation and leadership in tech by creating an empowerment ecosystem that integrates and expands our existing successful partnerships in mentoring, education, and affinity. We will create a LifeTime Mentoring (LTM) program, engage more K-12 girls through near-peer mentoring and outreach, increase college student persistence through co-curricular programs and internships, and build leaders through the professional and personal relationships of affinity groups. We will develop a Blueprint for local support to scale to a national network of regional hubs for women to access, moving from high school to college and career, focusing on LTM and local belonging, empowering women to lead in tech, and RISE.
