What a beast of a machine! I split with a Flotron splitter from the mid-1980's, but it's still productive for my home use. I normally wear Carhartt suspender overalls to help guard from loose clothing, and some type of ear protection--normally earmuffs. Your wife is a hoot, first I saw her pull her top down exposing more of herself in the outtakes, then told us their size! It reminded me of an episode of Family Feud a couple years ago.

@@rachelpostma4505 Just remember this, it's only a piece of firewood, you can make as many of them as you want and none of them are worth losing your body parts over. If you never have your hand in there it can't get cut off. Most splitter accidents happen when two people are running the same machine, one person ends up cutting off the body part of the other person usually trying to go to fast.Lots of people around here missing fingers from that exact scenario. You did a good job keeping your hands out of the way.

Very nice. Are the side guides on the push plates adjustable? As logs were going through there as some noticeable wriggling of the pushplate like there is a fair bit of play there. With additional play the wearing surfaces aren't working evenly so you pretty much end up with a point contact rather than a nice smooth tight sliding action. Outtakes were too funny. I love seeing them on the end of Cutting Edge Engineering videos that I also watch. I missed what size Rachel said in the outtake and had to go back and watch. Funniest part of the outtakes.

Rachel, you should be a little bit careful standing right opposite the knife edge of the splitter wedge. There are times, and I admit its gonna be one in 5,000 times, when the knife hits a knot in the wood and the split part will literally explode off the knife. And I saw this the other day and it caught one of the guys right in the shoulder. Did not look that joyful, and if it hit him in the head it would have been possibly worse. It is probably not a big deal on clean, straight grained wood, but then again you can never tell when there's a knot or some weird thing in the wood. I will try to find and Link you to the RU-vid of that log exploding.

About the double chin, based on personal experience, grow a beard. You may still have one, but, nobody can see it. Lol

How much wood do you sell every year I never see you delivering anything
@hardworkingmanoutdoors
@hardworkingmanoutdoors Год назад
Gary, I don’t usually film my deliveries. In the past I have mostly split for myself and the roadside stands. We are starting to get more serious about selling firewood and making more deliveries etc. this year we have sold about 20 cord. I’d like to double my sales next year and continue to grow each year time permitting.

I like how your wife is conscious of her hands, removing them from the block every time , I see a lot of guys holding the wood while it’s being pushed by the splitter , kind of scary

Thank you, that is something we are both getting better at. The cradle built in to this splitter helps with that a lot.
