You say you'll farm until you're 70 but I started my flower farm at 75 to supplement my social security. I've learned at lot my first year. But I still managed to sell flowers.
Georgie is genuinely showing people the many ways that you cane Flower Farming into a business. You don't have to own a Farm to make this work. I loved showing her round and it is fantastic that you and so many have enjoyed it! Thank you Tina.
I can't wait to have you back Georgie! Meeting you, talking to you, hearing your thoughts and advice - totally keen to do this again in the city! Rebecca
Rebecca you are very inspirational, really enjoyed the behind the scenes tour. I’ve started a cut Flower patch in my garden and I’m learning so much. Would love to expand but for now I’m happy to learn and develop what I have. Thanks to Georgie for going on tour 🙌
This is fabulous!! Soooo informative, so excited to visit Rebecca’s website, and am I imagining it or… are flower farmers in the UK the most generous people on the planet?? Sharing this info, so encouraging to others, just…cannot thank you enough. On my “expense” list? A Georgie flower farm biz workshop, and Rebecca’s planner!! Very much colder climate where I farm in US, but the challenges and joys the same, a little more “gobbed up” by short season, but establishing structure creates flexibility which I know as a gardener, but “forgot” as a “farmer!!” Thank you!!!
I think it is fascinating. Maybe a short season is a blessing in some ways. You could really max out on one crop and be the 'go to person' for it! Just a thought! And I've done 2 of Georgie's short courses. I thoroughly recommend her no nonsense approach. Rebecca
TO be honest I think the inspiration comes from Georgie for setting the path, writing the first book that I bought and proving that it is possible to make a living from growing flowers. Rebecca
Lovely! What a good looking book, I'll be looking that one up. Your trip around the country seeing how other farmers work is fascinating, and full of good ideas.
What an interesting tour and I love Rebecca's way of farming, I live in Alaska and how she is using the landscape fabric and compost is amazing help to me. As I thought I can't do things in garden in small sections to cover with the fabric, last year I started covering small areas and your patches reconfirm it can work like that, I love your book, probably not feasible for shipping for me, you and Georgie are so very inspiring and I thank you both, enjoy the rest of the year , thank you both
Hi Tami, I am sorry that shipping is not feasible at this time. DO get in touch if there is anything that I can do to help. The key for me is to buy good quality fabric that you can reuse and reuse and reuse. Rebecca
