I have been waiting for this. Thanks for the interesting tips. I was wondering why my pictures never look like yours despite overexposure. Now I know the answer.
This was a really good and comprehensive video man! Great work! And your photos always look amazing, so I'm also really excited to see how you scan in the next episode
thank you reimann ✌️ yeah, the next part can take a while :D The next parts are more important than this one but in the end many questions come up if I hadn't made the video.
I've only just discovered your channel and I love your videos! They're so relaxing to watch and listen to. Thank you for your efforts! Great tips in this video, thank you!
Yay another video! great one and I always wondered how they got that Portra effect but then when I shot it, Portra came out so dark for me. The truth is out :) Thanks for making and sharing this!
thank you, yes many in my kodak gold videos have noted that they themselves with portra never had the results they wanted. that's exactly why I'm doing this series. save money and still get the look you want :D
@@TheBigNegative-PhotoChannel haha of course! I love the stuff you're putting out. I've been waiting patiently for the scanning video and trust it'll be amazing. Thanks for all you do and share.
Ansel Adam reviewed. The best accurate (not over and not under, just right) is to measure the darkest part of the frame and take it as the -2 area, hence 2 stops more for a perfect exposure (mentioned but not that clear in 5:20)
hey, Ansel Adams may have done that back in the day. However, there are a few more tricks for large format photography and I would never measure so sloppy for a large format picture. I also do not want to repeat what I had already said in the parts before. 😄
This was an amazing video and very helpful since I just just purchased a Canon A1. Could I get the same “pastel” results shooting Portra 400 in Aperture Priority Mode; at ISO/200 & f16…and then develop at 400 box speed?
Thanks to you, my first film camera was also an A1. You can also get the pastel colors with box speed, but it may well be that the shadows may become slightly dirty with cheaper films, but that should not happen with portra. However, F16 is already something very extreme there you have to pay attention to your shutter speed which should not be below 1/125 otherwise you probably have blurred images. Better would be shutter priority on 1/125 and the camera chooses the best aperture. I think you would have the least problems with this setup. 👌
@@TheBigNegative-PhotoChannel Ok cool, I’ll be sure to do that. Thank you so much for the detailed feedback. I really appreciate it. I’ll be sure to let you know how they turn out.
