One of the most extraordinary parts of our body is the endothelium. Though invisible to the naked eye, it plays a huge role in keeping our hearts, blood pressure, and our cardiovascular system functioning on a healthy level and preventing ill-health. Find out how Renew ECP Therapy can improve endothelial function.

Thanks! I'm the type of person who needs a visual explanation of something to understand/remember what it is and I'm learning sooo many terms and word roots for med terminology for college so visualizing some of them helps so much! Excellent video. :) LIterally thw only video I could find thats JUST explaining what I needed to understand which is - what is endothelium. Much appreciated!

Disappointing to see that you have made such an informative video on endothelial dysfunction, yet you have failed to mention nutrition and the benefits that a whole foods plant based diet could have. But I suppose this doesn’t fit in with your financial pursuits.

The most important thing for endothelial cell function is euglycemic blood sugar levels. Even slightly elevated levels appear to irritate endothelial cells. Whole grains (still carbs) are among the prime sources of agents that elevate blood sugar with the exception of plain sugar. Whole grains are nothing more than a large chain of sugar molecules The best diet for the endothelium is without a doubt a low carb diet, plants are good if they are low carbohydrate. Thats the balance, plants and animals sources both nourish the body. The real enemy are carbs regardless of sources.. I would even dare to say that between a steak and a potato the true heart stopper is the potato.

@@pickledrick5158 It’s really not that simple. Saturated fats from red meat and other sources have been shown in many respected journals to aid in the immune response and normal hormone production, which is important for endothelial functioning and health. Carbohydrates do play a vital role ATP synthesis and are also important for muscle retention and hypertrophy. Saying that sugar is bad simply isn’t 100% true. We simply don’t have it figured out quite yet.

@@mattlange5890 Except that from a pathological perspective damaged endothelial cells namely the basement membrane is coated in hyaline a glyco protein. In essence high blood sugars levels are key in the destruction of blood vessels. Saturated fat is not as big of a pathological correlation to the cardiovascular system as hyperglycemia. I agree some saturated fat is bad mainly glycated and oxidized LDL, both highly correlated with elevated blood sugar. In regards to the carbs nothing raises blood sugar as fast and high as carbohydrates. Protein is 2nd and only about a 1/3 per gram compared to carbs. Fat only 1/10. Blood sugar is also linked to longevity, the lower your blood sugar the longer you live, optimal levels for longevity are 77 to 83 mg/dl despite medical authorities saying the range is all the way to 99. A pathology study that stuck to me was evaluation of diabetic kidneys of young type 1 diabetics compared to the normal population. Most cohorts were under 30 years of age, but their vascular kidney age was closer to 80 years old. Reason why most diabetics develop the complications, they age and oxidize at an incredible rate. His thesis said which resonated with me “ you are as old as your blood vessels are…”

@@pickledrick5158 Very interesting and super cool. I agree 100%. I often wonder though, Say your cells need 2000kcals per day. Pretend that is the exact amount you need on a specific day. If you consume exactly 2000kcals. Wouldn’t the cells pull in essentially all blood fatty acids and glucose molecules? Leaving your blood values essentially the same as before? I think a big part of it is that people eat too much which leaves excessive glucose and fat in the blood (leading to glycated hemoglobin and lipid trapping) which slowly damages endothelial cells. This would cause chronic remodeling and overall arterial dysfunction.

@@mattlange5890 Exactly what I am thinking!!! I have a crazier theory, it appears that much like a car engine the more you drive it and fill it with gas the quicker the car engine dies. I feel humans are just the same, the more you eat the less you live. I am not entirely sure that we even need the standard 2000 kilocalories as they recommend. I feel every person has a specialized need based on their body composition, genetics, environment, level of activity and age. I am 31 about 190 pounds, work out 5 times a week and only eat once or twice a day, very little carb less than 30g a day. I don’t measure calories only protein intake, for me it’s about 1.5x my weight in kilogram. I don’t lose or gain weight and I am not tired. Perhaps we are being lied and thrown into the food consumer machine. The USDA guidelines were directed by food companies telling people to eat and buy for profit!
