Fun fact: Scylla is basically the monster in Greek mythology of the same name, who also had dog heads, and her name also means dog (skylos. The C in Scylla sounds like a K, so pronounced skilla). Considering how the names in Elpis are all Greek, and what with Amon's past, I wouldn't have put it past a part of his brain seeing it as a chance not just to torment his rival, but enact some irony.
We actually now have confirmation that Allag did a bunch with Eureka for primal-making. Turns out Eureka was their other favorite source of trigger weapons, and presumably after seeing how Odin worked, they created a primal Excalibur and used it to temper the rebel Artorias, whom we fight as the final boss of the allagan laboratory deep dungeon Eureka Orthos.
Glad to see more from you! I enjoyed this detailed look at the life and legacy of Allag, and how fucked up they were! But at least their old e-books/USBs/iPhones are finding some use as credit for my new gunblade!
Fun fact about the "Heart of Sabik": it is named after one of the brightest stars in the Ophiuchus constellation. And Ophiuchus is the zodiac sign associated with Zodiark (and Elidibus, by proxy) in the Ivalice-based games. The "Heart of Sabik" itself had the power of the Ultima spell, which Lahabrea described as a "sliver of his true god's strength" (i.e. Zodiark), ergo...
Another star in the constellation is Unukalhai. But there's a lot more than two stars in that constellation, and we've never seen any of the others, so whatever they were going for was probably dropped!
Ok... This aged in a kind of hilarious way since we now know the Heart came from space (oh hi Ultima, what are you doing here?) And in all likelihood Lahabrea might have been a bit conflating zodiark with his brainwashing psycho Ex. Guy got messed up bad by that woman.
It's rarely SUPER integral, but if you're genuinely curious about the game world, then fish are genuinely something worth looking into! There's also some fun little comedy nuggets in there, too; my favorite is Problematicus, a fish named because the first attempt to name it started a brawl.
@@EinDose There's so much little side stuff that while nothing has been mentioned that's EARTH SHATTERING - it has provided a lot of confirmations and interesting considerations that usually aren't mentioned.
One of the things I would love to be able to do as Azem is travel to the height of the Allagan glory days in some future expansion. I would love to learn more about that culture.
I talked a bit about it in my 6.4 feelingspinions video; put short, I don't think its reappearance really adds anything to any of the stories it's connected to, and in fact is a bit of a detriment to Athena's.
The Eorzean Aquarium is great and has legit gotten me into fishing in-game! It's really fun when you aren't spending three hours desperstely hoping for ANY rare fish to bite!
Nuh uh the heart of sabik is the green ball of light that comes out of the ultima weapon after you slap it down, I know because a guy said it once in a praetorium run.
I was thinking of adding that, but it didn't quite make the cut! Heimdall's Last Sight is an Allagan monitoring ship knocked onto the moon by the awakening of Bahamut. It's neat, but mostly just confirms that Allag could launch things into space, which... well, we kinda already knew.
Pretty sure the Garlean slave race theory came from Ethys. I remember him theorizing that a while back. I wouldn't be surprised if people took his theory as gospel
