It’s pretty neat and crazy how sometimes, between the lore and gameplay, Eureka feels like an entire game within a game. The story is really fascinating so thanks for breaking it down.

Every time someone goes into Eureka lore, my brain just buzzes so pleasantly with speculation. One of those mysteries that calls to me to be answered, I love it.

Thanks for making this video about Eureka and Eureka (as well as Eureka)! This was super informative and while I’ve resigned myself from ever stepping foot in BA once I finished Eureka, Absolute Virtue is definitely a name I remember seeing years ago.

I'm so glad you made this video! I didn't really get too big into Eureka so I didn't do much or get far at all. Thank you for your work!

Interesting side note on Nero's scanner beeping after he threw it into the ravine outside of the crystal tower. The beeping was Morse code spelling out "It's all wrong". I'm guessing it was a potential story hook that they put in to build on later and it has (in possibility/theory) now been tied to Meteion.

In my XI days, I used to watch other groups fighting Absolute Virtue, but I don't think I ever killed it myself because I switched to XIV during 1.0. I've always wanted to go back and revisit Sky & Sea among other zones that I vaguely remember in XI.

I didn't play XI thanks to playing various different MMOs before XIV. I'm still not sure if that's a good thing or not. But it's still something I'd really love to dip into and explore myself. Just... not enough to pay another sub fee for it!

@@EinDose I was legit happy that AV showed up in Eureka because I was part of the people that ran up on AV in XI, we never killed it after 6hours in and people stayed longer to attempt it. Ended up getting a revenge moment in Eureka and loved the nods to such an old MMO

Okay, I hadn't been all that interested in Eureka before, now I'm captivated.

I feel like the word Eureka has lost all meaning to it. Like it barely sounds like a word. That aside the history of absolute virtue always fascinates me. As someone who had no way of playing 11 that era of gaming is of myths and legends as internet here made HomeStarRunner take ages to load let alone a game. Also allergens where a thing in the Moogle tribe quest where you used pollen to make dragons sneeze.

Of course, I forgot about the moogle quests! (For good reason, probably.) And yeah, the stories that emerged out of 90s and 00s MMOs are absolutely fascinating. That whole era has a fun mythos about it that nothing after it has really captured--probably in part because those stories mostly emerged either in spite of or in response to the era's generally player-adversarial game design. The environment that birthed those stories wasn't exactly a GOOD environment worth keeping in games of the future.

@@EinDose still better then the stormblood crafting quest. The horror stories of the tub socks. There also was an episode on one of cis shows betting Miami. Where a gamer died in a gaming marthon and my mom wanted to take my want to say Game Cube away for free playing too much Sonic Heroes or Shadow the Hedgehog would get me killed. But yeah the stories of like Leroy Jenkins live on even if that was likely staged. Do find it funny one fate boss is a lost puppet as I am pretty sure that is the last job YoshiP wants in 14. Glad we no longer make games like 11 anymore 2 hour cool downs sound so maddening.

Eureka lore is insane, which is one of the reason why I love it.

Eureka primal tempering probably is backwards as well, as in the weapon tempering itself to it's users desires first, then consuming the user. Hope to see some non kangaroo, non bahamut meracydia stuff in orthos.

31:09 this kind of reminds me of the xiv devs reaction to seeing Titan EX from an Australian player's pov, and how certain mechanics in that fight were essentially impossible to do due to the difference in ping from a player on mainland Japan

I didn't know that part! I have heard that Ninja once had some huge latency problems that were only fixed at a fanfest when someone actually sat Yoshi-P down and showed him.
