I would not say he is under rated , all the legends rank him up there , one of his best duels was against Atherton and that was something special , I was lucky enough to se him when he toured the West indies , I had never ever see fast bowlers like that , he could get this love out swing , I think he bowled a lot of in swingers to right handers but I remember he bowled out Keith Arthurton and the stumps went flying . I agree , SA had a lot of great players and I am sure he would have gotten 450 wickets , I think he was a lot more terrifying than Styen.

Look at the crowds back then watching two great cricket nations, both with some great cricketers. Sad that now we see small crowds in South Africa and in Asia, the T20 revolution has taken that away which is very disappointing. Allan Donald made me sit up and take notice of the South African Cricket Team, he was a Rolls Royce in a sea of Toyotas. His bowling action rivals Lillee for the greatest in cricket and his pace was electric. A great, great fast bowler who took on some great players in their prime (Waugh's, Tendulkar, etc.) and never backed down. Shame we missed a few years of his career due to the ban.

I remember Australia won series by 2-1 and also remember one of odi series match in which oz chased 284 (that time chasing 284 was a Everest climbing even against Zimbabwe ) and I became big fan of Bevan thereafter.

Donald is an unparalleled bowler ever. No one frm the prime westindies or wasim era or bretlee could bowl like him. Many fast bowlers came but he was unplayable, least sixes have been hit against his pace balling.

Sometimes I loved watching South African cricket mainly because they had some exquisite bowling actions. Alan Donald, Shaun Pollock and Pat Symcox bowling actions were delight to watch. Paul Adams action was weird but was unique.

Great, great bowler. That calm, almost effortless run up had shades of Holding in it.

Absolutely mesmerized by Donald's run-up. Smooth as silk...and in a split-second the smoothness transitions to a delivery with the sole purpose of destroying the batsman.
