I have watched Everything , and shared much on social media , about Allen Savory and the land changes using the Holistic Management (common sense as he said) ,,, and in this one old...er ,lol, womans opinion … this young woman had the best introduction of anyone so far ! Just perfect!! His(Allen Savory) work has brought home the many years of growing up on farms and ranches , watching the grassland replaced by sagebrush and the animals disappearing. the water along with them !! This whole movement of grassing the prairies ( which WILL help to refill the aquifers) is so hopefull it brings tears! The beauty of animals and healthy land and water ….. heals the soul as well as the body and mind ! I pray that we get away from using all chemicals on Mother Earth , I come from strong ancestors of long lives but have had many in my close family die from disease before 60 because of the work and exposure they had … that's not counting the birth troubles and the diseases our children grew up with ! so as Holistic Management and others like it are accomplished world wide to change public opinion and arrange their priorities in a responsible healthy manner … Im Hopeful ! @@rexmann1984 I've gone out of my way to find grass-fed beef and lamb, plus pasture-raised chicken and eggs. I'm discovering how delicious this all is besides being nutritious and supportive of regenerative farmers. :)

Yes we export our grain and their nutrients overseas. Well along with that grain we are export our ancient groundwater. I say that ancient groundwater is also a very important resource like soil.
The sad thing is we wouldn't need to use the aquifers if the upper ground water was there to use instead it runs off and evaporates because no grasses... but the true paradox … the chemical plants that are making chemicals to make healthy soil ( Herbicides, Pesticides , Fertilizers ) is using more ground water then you farmers would need with natural rich soil . Savory does have a proven grazing plan to save crops too ;)
His methods relate to restoring grasslands. What about in areas where we need to restore forest, what is the method? Do we use livestock for reforestation?
In America, few have even seen a forest. They see areas covered with stunted, scrubby trees, crowded together, nearly all the same age, and *lacking the animals that are integral and essential parts of the forest ecology* and think they are seeing a forest. Somewhere it was written that some of the Indians* of South America did not have a separate word for the jaguar, as they did not see that animal as separate from the jungle. I don't know if this is true of these people, but the point is, absolutely. Without the animals that belong in any given ecosystem, that ecosystem is incomplete - and will not function properly. There are advantages to the Western-reductionist way of thought. Like the watch in Savory's example, it can be useful to look at the parts of something to help us understand how it works. But it will not FUNCTION unless we put it back together again. Nature does not care if the animals that fill the ecological niches are 'domestic' or 'wild'. Where the ecosystem is fractured - by fences and highways across the plains, for example - humans have to step in and restore the 'management' that is missing. In the case of grazing animals, that means keeping the animals mobbed together and moving frequently to fresh ground, as they would in the presence of predators and with the need to move to get food when they are not being fed... This movement can eliminate the need for the animals to be treated with chemicals to keep flies away, or chemicals to kill internal parasites. In short - we have to understand that humans ARE PART OF THE ECOSYSTEM, too. We need to inhabit our planet like we belong here. Most - perhaps ALL - of the destruction that human activity has caused comes from one flawed concept: that humans are somehow separate from the rest of the Earth. If we make it to Mars, the most important discovery we will make is that humans are part of a biological system, a system that functions as part of the planet as a whole. Oops, there it is again, 'holistic'. *The word 'Indian' in this context reportedly came from the observations of the people Columbus met in the New World. He was so impressed with the way they lived in harmony with each other and the natural world around them that he referred to them as 'a people 'en DIos' ' - or a people in God. (Reportedly, much of the sub-continent we now call 'India' was then, though in a different political configuration, known as 'Hindustan', and was not called India for another 200 years.) 'Native' simply means the place of birth, like the 'nativity scenes' at Christmas time.
I worked for many years in the tree seedlings industry. Growing mostly black spruce to replace the black spruce cut down with clear cut logging. . Northern Ontario. Many times native tree stock out-performed the seedlings we grew. There is a lot of root systems and dormant seeds still in the topsoil. Now where there is a loss of topsoil from forestry I expect that would need to be also addressed. You pose an interesting question though.
What he's said in other videos is that in areas that are humid year-round, they can take abuse and things re-grow. It's grasslands, with *seasonal* rainfall, that degrade. Definitely *don't* use livestock for reforestation since forests wouldn't have been trampled by herds the way grasslands were.

@58:00 I have a better answer than Allan even does. Your gonna be able to sell so much more beef than your competition that don't use this management that you will eventually being able to buy more and more land from your competition that doesn't adopt this method.
