I have had my Allpowers solar panel for the last 5 years and it still works fine. It obviously has its wear and tear on it though. My friend Julia just ordered me a 100watt panel and it's coming today. I'm really exited to receive it. When I say I use the panel...I use it. I travel alot, camping, hiking. I have literally been camping 150+times throughout the years.. Puerto Rico, Colorado , California Tennessee, etc. Been in rain,snow and sleet. I would 1000000% recommend this panel to anyone. I love this thing

Hi David. Providing the G500 has an input that accepts 18V DC then a cable such as the one I use to charge the ALLPOWERS Portable Solar Battery (seen in this video > ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-bvrwYnIjxpQ.html) should do the trick providing it fits. I don't have a G500 so am unable to test this bit, sorry. I bought this to extend the length of the cable that comes with this panel to charge my solar battery > amzn.to/2HEtkrV . I hope this is what you are looking for? Please shout if not. Cheers, Adrian

@Jimbo raine Good day! Thanks very much for your kind feedback, it's much appreciated 😊👍. There's a good selection to choose from now, so a few questions if I may. > Do you have a particular budget in mind? > Does size/weight matter? > What type of things do you wish to power while camping? > Are there any specific features you're looking for? > Are you planning to charge while on the move? Have you had chance to look at any other videos (different makes)? Sorry for all the questions, I'm trying to build a picture of what might be good options. All the best, Adrian

Hi Adrian, thanks for the great video. 2 little questions. Did you charge a laptop directly from the panel without accumulator in between? Do you think this panel can charge directly a 48v e bike? Thanks! Keep it up 👍
@DADvinci
@DADvinci 2 года назад
@Anton M Good day Anton! Thanks for your very generous feedback, sincerely appreciated👍😊. In answer to your first question, I don't usually connect the panel directly to a laptop. This panel typically outputs around 18V in full sun and that would need to work with what your laptop accepts for charging. For your 2nd question, it will depend on the charge specification of your eBike battery. The panel will produce around 18V, which will be too low to charge a 48V battery (unless boosted with a charger or step-up converter). Usually, in order to charge a battery (e.g. lithium), you'll need a charger or power source that can provide a higher voltage than what the battery has (18V is much lower than 48V), until full or charger reaches the desired battery voltage. It might be worth looking in the manual or on the charger itself to see the DC output voltage from the charger. I hope this helps and please shout if you have any other questions. All the best, Adrian

Hi Adrian, I bought the Allpowers 60W folding panel to go with my Allpowers 372W (as Amazon currently aren't selling the 100W panel). However, I've just realised that they can't be left out in the rain 😕. Not much use for camping! I'm completely perplexed by all the different solar panels out there and all the differences in specs. Are you able to point me in the direction of a weatherproof solar panel that's compatible with the Allpowers 372W pack? If not, can you tell me what spec I need to look for? Any help will be much appreciated! 🙏🙏🙏

Adrian, I've found this one by DOKIO (100 Watt 12 Volt Monocrystalline Foldable Portable Solar Suitcase with Waterproof Charge Controller): www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07JVJJH47/ref=cm_sw_em_r_mt_dp_rnYjFbMZH45FQ However it lists its open-circuit voltage as 22.5V. The ALLPOWERS 372WH power unit states its input range from solar power as 16.6-22.0V. Does that mean that the DOKIO solar panel would provide too much power and damage the ALLPOWERS unit? Also the DOKIO only comes with one lead which has crocodile clips on the end. Would it be simply a case of cutting them off and attaching an Anderson fitting? Again, thanks for any help you can provide. Without it I would've given up by now!!!

@Stu K. Hey Stu! I'm sorry to hear that the 60W folding didn't fit the bill. The folding suitcase panels are really good from a durability/panel life point of view (just 2 rigid glass panels bolted together). Apart from the panels themselves, I'm not sure how 'weatherproof’ it is with what looks like a standard charge controller stuck to the back of one panel. To ensure things are as weatherproof as possible, cables with MC4 connectors that are directly connected to the sealed junction box on the back of a panel are a good bet. An example of a weatherproof way to connect up a panel (to be left out in all weathers) to the 372Wh can be seen in this video > ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-T_hlnoyAx2c.html . Although this is with a standard rigid panel, just add MC4 extension cables and the MC4 to Anderson cable in the video and you can charge the 372Wh from anywhere that's dry whilst the panel stays outside. You'd need to bypass the controller on the DOKIO, so unscrew where the panels go into the controller and add an extension of some kind (properly sealed). The other lighter option, although not as durable as glass panels, is a flexible panel. These are from ALLPOWERS, 50W > amzn.to/3kpKc8e (affiliate link) or 100W > amzn.to/3fH1iL0 (affiliate link). You can find cheaper panels, but I've not tested any so quality/output could vary. As you will see, they are weatherproof with MC4 cables and that's it. Add one of these cables (as in the video above) > amzn.to/2Cb3cG9 (affiliate link) and you're good to go. You can always get a MC4 extension cable if needs be to ensure the 372Wh is in the dry. Please let me know your thoughts and I can help further. All the best, Adrian

Hi Adrian, Great video. Thanks so much! I've just bought the AllPowers Solar Generator UPS and want to buy a solar panel for it. I'm a complete beginner with all of this technical stuff. Which is the better AllPowers foldable solar panel for this generator (AllPowers UPS)? 60W or 100 Watt? Also, can you charge a MacBook Pro (13 inch - 2017) directly from the AllPowers foldable solar panel? Grateful if you could let me know asap as there aren't many left of these solar panels to buy at the moment. Thanks very much.

@DADvinci 4 года назад
Good day Kathy and thanks for your kind comment. May I ask which version of solar generator you purchased, was it the 288Wh or 372Wh version? Do you charge your MacBook using a USB-C cable? The reason I ask is that I don't have one personally so would need to know what charging method it uses. The solar panel recommendation would be based on how you intend to use it. Here are some options that might help with your decision if you have the 372Wh version. 1) If you need something more portable, then the 60W is slight smaller when folded (compared with the 100W version) and charges, in UK spring tests, between 40-45W on clear days. 2) If you want a quicker charging time and something that's still portable, then the 100W version is your better option but will cost more than the 60W equivalent 3) You could always use a more conventional 100W panel which is usually cheaper than a foldable one and charges as fast as the solar generator can take (about 60W). If you haven't seen our latest video it might help a little > ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-T_hlnoyAx2c.html 4) If you want the best of both worlds, you could get the conventional 100W solar panel for where you charge it most (home, campervan, etc) and then the 60W to charge whilst out and about or travelling/camping. Whatever option you choose, I recommend getting the appropriate Anderson port cable for the solar panel you want use with the 372Wh generator. The following videos may also help if you haven't seen them. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Mnk5i7VCk-Q.html ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-R2EYi1d6c1M.html ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ViLdkYzOZqA.html I hope this helps? @DADvinci 4 года назад
Great, thanks for the info Kathy. Your options relate to size and cost, as below. 1) If you need something more portable, then the 60W is slightly smaller when folded (compared with the 100W version) and charges, in UK spring tests, between 40-45W on clear days. 2) If you want a quicker charging time and something that's still portable, then the 100W version is your better option but will cost more than the 60W equivalent My 60W version (amzn.to/2yOOXVn - affiliate link) hasn't missed a beat in 17months of usage (every sunny day), so if charging a little bit slower than the 100W with a smaller folded package works for you, then the 60W gets my vote (+ cheaper). In terms of charging your MacBook direct from the solar panel, you would need something that takes the 18V DC output from the panel and converts it into USB-C. This is something I've not personally tested so can only provide an option I've found that might work, but that's as much as I can do I'm afraid. This is also an expensive option as charging direct from the generator would save the need for having this (depends on how you plan to use your setup). Here's my link purely as an example > amzn.to/2xejqMt (affiliate link), but without being able to test I'm unable to say whether this would work or not. I hope this helps with your decision? Please let me know if you need anything else. All the best, Adrian

@@DADvinci Hi David, thanks for your second reply. Very helpful. Presume that the 100W version of the folding solar panel is perfectly safe to use on the "ALLPOWERS Portable Generator 288Wh Power Station Emergency Power Supply with Silent DC/AC Inverter, Charged by Solar Panel/ Wall Outlet for Camping, Home Use, Refrigerator, Outdoor". I would then plan NOT to plug in my MacBook Pro direct to the solar panel but instead just plug my computer into the AllPowers Portable Generator here at home, the generator having been topped up via the solar panel.. Assume that works and that the 100W solar panel is fine for using with the 288Wh AllPowers generator? Also, when you are topping up the power in the generator, either by plugging it into a wall socket or via the solar panel, can you plug in devices at the same time and use them while the generator is charging (either through mains current or solar panels)?
@DADvinci
@DADvinci 4 года назад
Yes, 100W is safe to use as it's promoted on the Amazon page (in the pictures sections) amzn.to/34saM9d. I've always been fine using my solar generator with the panel charging it at the same time and it is also shown in the video on the Amazon page for this generator too (again in the pictures section at the top). Our long-term update video on this generator is based on using it as normal whilst plugged into the solar panel, which is still the case today > ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Vm8xh6Cr2Mc.html (if you haven't seen it). I've not really used it whilst plugged into the mains for AC charging, only whilst charging from solar. I hope this helps? Please shout if you need anything else. Cheers, Adrian

@DADvinci
@DADvinci 4 года назад
Glad to help! In terms of a comparison (preference) - the LCD, extra capacity, USB-C PD port and smaller size are better on the Monster. The Anderson port issue is still the hot potato, although the DC input is working fine from a solar panel perspective providing it's not cloudy. I got 36W charging yesterday which is very good from this 60W panel in UK Spring! The previous 288Wh version is reliable and seems to keep running despite the abuse + no solar charging issues whatsoever. I can't comment on the Monster reliability as I've not had it that long yet. I'm frustrated that I can't draw a line under the Anderson port issue as it's the most asked question I get on the Monster. Had the Monster working with my daughter's Xbox X the other day. Used my old 40" Samsung (150W) with the Xbox and managed to pull 220-240W whilst playing Tekken7. Pushed it to the max watt rating attempting to play Forza Horizon 4 which takes advantage of the Xbox X hardware. Game loaded and once I went to start driving the LCD showed just over 300W and it tripped out, so right on the mark for the specs. It's amazing to see a little box powering a 40" TV + high end games console! Sorry for the long reply, I just want to ensure you have all the info to make an informed decision. I don't want anyone to buy something that will cause them problems, especially if I know about it. That's way more important to our channel than making a couple of quid for recommending a product! I'm currently about 90% happy with the Monster as I can still charge it using the DC port with the panel I have. I'd be 100% if I could get the Anderson port working. I'd be 110% happy if it lasts as well as the 288Wh version that I still use daily. I hope this answers your question? Please shout if you need anything else. All the very best, Adrian

One thing I do note on the Amazon listing is this > With a parallel cable (not included) you can connect two same LSFC-120 120W solar panels to get more power. It sounds like they have a parallel cable available somewhere. Please let me know. Cheers, Adrian

@@DADvinci hi Adrian, I’ve got the Ecoflow river max 600w I’ve just returned from a carp fishing trip in France and it performed amazingly! Running my fridge/freezer day and night ! My 120 w panel on the brightest of days only put in a max of 80w ! On average it was more like 65/70 ! On over cast days it would struggle and only put out 30/40w ! This is why I’m hoping that by connecting two panels on the dull or cloudy days I can double the input 👍🏻 regards Ross

Hey there, great review! Could you charge the battery pack while driving with the 12v output of the car? I presume you need an adapter of some sorts for it then. Could you use the adapter provided in the solar pack by any chance?
@DADvinci
@DADvinci 5 лет назад
Hi zab, thanks for your kind comment and question. I can confirm that the 12V cigarette lighter lead in the pack does fit the solar input on the battery. I don't usually charge the battery in this way but tested the lead when I got the panel and the battery solar charging indicator came on (although I've not tested how long it takes to charge it). It's not the tightest of connections so you need to make sure it's in properly and that the charging indicator comes on once the car is going. I hope this helps? All the best, Adrian

@@DADvinci Hi Adrian, thanks so much for the quick reply. Great to here. I would like to install this battery in my car and charge it either with solar or with the 12v output while driving. It looks like you were charging with solar and using the battery at the same time. Is that recommended? I've read that some battery packs do not have the circuit for this kind of thing which will then harm the battery. Cheers and thanks again! David

Hi David, glad to help! I've not experienced any problems charging (via solar input) and using at the same time. I bought the battery in Sept 2018 and it is still performing fine so I can only assume it's ok with me doing that. The AC inverter does cut out if it doesn't like what I've plugged in, but that's when I've been testing high-powered items to see the limits. I guess you could err on the side of caution for your setup? The 12v input will charge your battery quicker than the solar panel so you could top up without having things plugged in? It's always difficult to judge the drop in battery performance (recharge cycles for lithium cells) over time. I use mine so much and only time will tell, but hopefully I'll get years of useful solar storage out of it. Please shout if you need anything else. Cheers, Adrian

@Southwestlondoncarp Good day and thanks for your question. I've checked the EB3A specs online and the Open circuit voltage (VOC) on the solar input is between 12-28V DC. This panel's VOC falls within the input voltage range so should work ok, although I don't have a EB3A to test myself. I hope this helps. All the best, Adrian

@Tim Benham Good day Tim and thanks for your question. I've not tried to parallel connect this panel as yet, have on almost everything else I've got. I could do that with the right leads/connectors. Was there something specific you wanted to do, other than increase solar power generation using this and another panel? All the best, Adrian

I've got this solar charger and I run it on the newer Allpowers 372wh power pack. Great bit of kit. I use mine to run a low 30w heater in my tent when I'm camping. Something you may not be aware of is that the solar charger wastes about 15w of power to the usbs. So on a very clear day I get a charge rate of 45w to my power station BUT if you start charging power banks from the usb ports it doesn't go down what so ever. I get around 1200mah @ 5v from both usb ports while charging at 40/45w on a good day. Poor sunlight and my charge rate drops to around 10/15w.

Good day Mark and thanks for your comment, much appreciated. That sounds very familiar with my 372Wh, which I've had a charging issue with (sorted now). Out of interest, which port do you charge with, DC or Anderson? I'm also interested to hear about the 30W heater you use. I hope to hear from you soon. Take care and thanks again, Adrian

@@DADvinci hey man, thanks for your reply. It all depends on where I'm using it to be honest. I charge it from my 65w usb c charger the most as I find it the fastest way to charge it. So if I'm camping or carcamping (yeah its a thing were you sleep in your car like a tent) I can still charge it from the 12v socket via a 150w inverter. BUT I do try my hardest to use the solar as as much as I can as it cost so much money! I found the best way to use solar is behind glass. I put my solar on my dash facing the sun and it always seems to get a better wattage than outside. maybe because there is no wind cooling the panels? I don't know! But it am super happy with my set up! Do kinda wish it was 500w for that extra bit of power.
@DADvinci
@DADvinci 4 года назад
The good old USB-C charging method. It's so handy as you can use the same cable to then charge from the battery, awesome! That's really interesting about charging behind glass, as usually that reduces performance. You must have special glass 😊 or a better angle as being at 90 degrees to the sun (30-40 ish degree panel tilt in the UK) gets more radiation. It's great to hear you're happy with your kit, although an extra 200W in the inverter department wouldn't go a miss. Take care and stay safe.

Hi Adrian, another Great review 👍 I am absolutely loving your channel It has helped me make a big decision almost an hour ago when I purchased the ALLPOWERS Solar Charger 18V 60W SunPower Solar Panel Foldable Charger, Excited much, as this will be 1 less thing to buy when I purchase the Portable Generator 372Wh Power Station next month.....I am really looking forward to running part of my Home off the Grid and obviously the Portability of both of them! This will be a huge game changer for me! As I will be saving a lot on Electricity and absolutely brilliant for Camping any other trips away 😊☀️

@Dean Platt Hey Dean! Thank you again, your feedback is always appreciated😊 It's awesome to hear some of the content on this channel has helped you make a decision. I'm really pleased with my panel and it's still going strong. You're spot on with the combination for using at home and away. The folded panel and 372Wh together are so compact for travelling around and ideal for camping (especially with the built-in lights). I still can't believe how much they get into such a small package when it comes to the 372Wh. There is something very satisfying about collecting and using free energy. It's somewhat addictive! Have a great evening and let me know if you need anything else. Take care, Adrian

hello, i would like to know what is the voltage of the electric current charging the car battery/motorcycle battery after 2 minutes of charging. is the voltage over 15 V? thanks
@DADvinci
@DADvinci 5 лет назад
Hi dokonidanko and thanks for your question. I've not replaced my multimeter since it stopped working so am unable to confirm the 'actual' output voltage and current when the panel is lined up with the sun. In addition, I've not attempted to charge a car battery as yet even though the kit comes with battery clips for such a task. I can only assume that this panel would provide a trickle charge at best as the current it provides wouldn't be substantial. I'm sorry I can't assist more in this case. All the best, Adrian

Hi David, thanks for your question. I've not used a solar controller with this panel. Good day and thanks for your question. The product description says 'Outdoor Necessities Equipped with a rugged water resistant, anti-shock, dust-proof exterior for outdoor use. Can also be affixed to your backup, bicycle or tent when you're out enjoying the great outdoors'. I've left mine out and it has been caught in a rain shower a few times, but I wouldn't recommend leaving it out in persistent rain or permanently outside. Although the material has water resistant properties, the ports block is just plastic and wouldn't do well in a prolonged wet spell. I hope this helps? All the best, Adrian

what mc4 connectors would I get for this product??

Hi David and thanks for your question. This panel has two USB & one 18V DC output, so doesn't have MC4 connectors from the panel itself. Other non-folding portable solar panels would have MC4 connectors. There's a good diagram showing how to connect up the non-folding kind on this product > amzn.to/2HlzqOY . I hope this helps? If not please let me know. All the best, Adrian

How long do you think this would take to charge a typical 15" laptop?
@DADvinci
@DADvinci 5 лет назад
Good day and thanks for your question. This solar charger has 2 x USB ports and 1 x 18V DC output (which I use to charge the solar battery). In most circumstances, you wouldn't be able to charge a laptop unless it accepted 18V DC directly. I have a 15" laptop and run it off the AC output on the solar battery - video here > ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-YJCDdMclwQ8.html which charges the laptop in the same time as if it was plugged into the mains. I regularly use the laptop in my garden on sunny days and plug it into the battery which is continuously recharged by this solar panel. Whenever it's sunny I use this panel to charge the battery so I rarely run my laptop off the mains when the weather is good. Does your laptop have the standard 'power brick' that plugs into the mains? If so, you will need something that can take the solar power from this panel (18V DC) and convert to mains AC for your laptop (battery in my case). I hope this helps and please let me know if you have any questions. All the best, Adrian

@@DADvinci Thank you for your reply. Most laptops (including mine) have a 19.5 VDC input. I am not sure if they will charge or operate on 18 VDC, but I'm assuming that they will (albeit a bit slower) since the Allpowers 80 watt and 100 watt panels come with multiple adapter plugs to fit all the major laptop brands, allowing a direct connection between the panel and the laptop and bypassing the need for the OEM power brick. I am curious to know how effective this works since I couldn't find any tests or reviews of this nature here on RU-vid. Cheers

@@theadventurebiker You're right of course and this 60W version also comes with adapters (D'OH)! I tried to connect my HP Pavilion laptop up when I originally got the panel, but none of the connection adapters fitted so I reverted to the battery option. I also tried my daughter's HP laptop (different adapter), but they didn't fit that either. I'll see if I can find an adapter on-line for my laptop and test charge when the sun returns. In theory it should charge laptops fine as long as you keep the panel directly facing the sun for the best output (found in testing). It works fine with the battery after all. Cheers, Adrian

Hi Stephen, it works great. I use it every day the sun is out (on my fence), even when it's cold! When my solar battery is full, I plug my tablets into the usb ports so I don't waste any sunshine. The ability to fold it up is amazing so it will be going with me on bike rides in the summer as it easily fits in my backpack. How long does it take to charge the battery with this panel?
@DADvinci
@DADvinci 5 лет назад
Hi Michael, thanks for your question. I rarely run the battery completely flat, but on the last attempt it took approx. 10+ hours (over 2 days). Please bear in mind that this was with intermittent winter sun. I expect the recharge time will drop with spring/summer sun. I've already noticed that top-up charges are taking less time, but I've not put a stopwatch on it yet. I'll do a more accurate test when the sun returns. All the best, Adrian

@DADvinci 5 лет назад
Wow, -5 is not a comfortable experience 😂 One thing I've noticed with this panel is that you need to keep it facing directly at the sun to get the most out of it, so I move it around the garden fences during the day to follow the sun. In the summer, I expect this panel to get close to the 'advertised' output. When I've worked in the garden recently, it kept the battery topped up (slowed the discharge rate considerably) when using my laptop rated at about 65W. This looks good for the summer months. There are non-foldable panels which will charge the battery at a faster rate. I love the portability of this panel as it fits in my backpack (for usb charging on cycling trips) so storage is awesome. Cheers, Adrian
