The problem with the Almond Cow is this: The machine allows no flexibility because it works on a fixed water to almond ratio. The 5 cup water amount at the minimum fill line and the 1 cup almond cup creates a watery mix. It’s like weak coffee, it tastes horrible. Even if you run the cycle twice it doesn’t help. The only thing that helps is making a batch of “cream” which is just one more cup of almonds mixed in the plastic cup and adding that to your original batch. And you still need to use a nut bag to get the extra milk! That’s too too much work, defeating the purpose of buying an extra machine. In the blender you can put 2 cups of almonds and 7 cups of water and you get a perfect 1/2 gallon of almond milk. The design ratio of the Almond Cow is off.
Great review. Thank you. I use a blender and nut milk bag. Your the 1 at one that suggested to blend twice, so much is left behind if only blending once. I also use warm weather instead of cold because it helps the fats/oils in the nuts extract easier
you could just blend the pulp up in the blender and add it to your milk recipe after you’re done, you could add a few more ingredients in the blender with the pulp to add more flavor and it definitely will make the milk creamier ❤
I just got mine yesterday. Made some cashew milk. I have a fancy blender and did the nutmilk bag thing for years. This is soooo much better for busy people. Its also cleaner.
Thank you very much for this great review. Straight to the point and simple. So far, this is the only video that explains that this machine starts 3 different circles before it is completely done. I was about to return mine cause I thought it was broken. 😂. Thank you! 😊
Such a perfectly spoken review and the pros definitely outweigh the cons 🎉 I’m so excited to make the chocolate milk ! 😊 I wonder if you could make eggnog or something very similar to it in the AC 🤫
Oh wow, congrats! What an awesome prize to get. We have nothing but great things to say about it and we’ve had it for a while. We mostly make our daily non-dairy milk with it. Maybe start there so you can get used to how it works. It took us a few tries before we nailed a recipe that we love. Enjoy!
Great video! Just wanted, obviously this stays best when consumed within a week, but my question is for the store bought shelved and sealed almond milks. On the containers, most say they are good until a year(Until they are opened) Is this because They are air sealed? Or is it because they add thickening agents to them? I don't think thickening agents act as preservatives which extend the shelf life. So, that is why I was asking. Thanks
Hi Jacob! I just looked on their website and they do have a recipe for horchata! I’ve never tried it though so I’m not sure how it tastes but it looks delicious. Here’s the link: almondcow.co/blogs/beverages/horchata
So it can have some grain left over? I really hate that..my nut bag get rids of the grain. But I want a faster option. So in your opinion is the almond cow still worth it?
Hello! Yes, I think the almond cow is 100% worth it for our family. We’ve used it for a few months now and we haven’t bought milk at the store since then. Milk is done so quick and it is always delicious. But unfortunately, it does have some tiny grains/sediment left when you make it. We’ve gotten used to it though and I believe there are ways to avoid it by soaking your nuts first. Hope that helps!
@@MindfulHome So I just tried it today and is was a hit!!!! no grains or anything. I did run it twice and soaked the nuts overnight. but yeah I love it so far. Thanks for the review.
Hi Tiffany! Yes, 3-5 days of storing is what Almond Cow recommends. I’ve done up to a week and it was fine, but it’s definitely better and more fresh the first few days. Thanks for watching!
Just a thought, could you just then just get the recipes, use a blender (aka saving $250), and then filter it out into a bottle? All the machine looks to be is a blender with a filter.
Hey Connor! You can definitely do that and it would work just as good. Similar to how you can toast bread in your oven and also in your toaster. Different appliance, just one is more focused on a specific task so it's quicker and more convenient. Hope that helps!
Oooooh - I love, love , love chocolate ANYTHING, but my body said nope. No more caffeine for you, and if you eat it or drink I'm not going to let you sleep. Waaaaah!!! 😞 Although, nifty little machine. Might look into it. Thanks!
Hi Heather! You can definitely just do that and not purchase the almond milk. Our blender is not fancy enough to crush the almonds all the way like the almond milk, though. And it does save you the straining process as well but if you already do that then just save the money :)
Hi Kelsey! No, this is not a sponsored video. I payed full price for the machine and it is my 100% honest review. Hope it was helpful - Thanks for watching!
I can see how they have similar blades but the Almond Cow does very specific work. I feel like a lot of appliances have many similarities if you really look at it that way, though.
