Soaking the nuts is not about if the machines can blend them or not. Soaking is extremely important to deactivate certain things that are not good for the body. It is actually quite dangerous to keep consuming nuts, lentils etc without soaking for extended periods of time. You will destroy your health eventually

Hi Sarah: I don't own the Mio Mat, but I had the Almond Cow for a year (possibly longer). I enjoy the Almond Cow but the issue I have with is that the end result is watery or thin milk. After experimenting I find that soaked cashews does make the milk very creamy & smooth. The more cashews you use it will become thick. Most of the time I use a half of cup to 3/4 of a cup more than the main ingredient for it to become thick. For example I may use a cup of oats then use one & half cups or more of cashews for this to become thick. This works for me. I tried soaked cashews & unsoaked. I prefer soaked overnight. It's easier on the Almond Cow to blend, it a smoother & creamier & thick. You can soak the cashews for a few hours. The longer you soak your nuts you will end up with a better end result. From time to time I still do the blender in conjunction with the nut milk bag. I do this is from time to time because all that cleaning feels like a chore & it gets tiring for me. I would like to try that Mio Mat. I just have to think about it. That 20 - 25 minutes for me is too long for me. I will consider it.

Thank you so much for sharing! I'm just not really good at remembering to soak nuts in advance. I really enjoy both machines to be honest. I am blessed to have both. I will be posting a comparison video showing different kinds of milks using nuts that have not been soaked and I timed the two machines. The MioMat Raw milk setting takes 13 minutes and in general produces thicker milk. I hope this helps!

This is an informative video. I love almond milk & use for smoothies, overnight oats, match latte or just a glass. There are so many choices out there. I'm still unsure which I would prefer as a beginner to making almond milk. I like that the almond cow has all the recipes & filter.

Hi Sarah, so I have the MioMat and I do love it. I blanch my almonds overnight so there is no pulp. However, their is still such a grainy texture to the milks. I reached out to MioMat and they said I would need a milk bag to smooth the textures more. Do you find this with the Almond Cow as well. And what do you do for your textures of milk to make then better? Thanks so much in advance. Love your reviews ❤️
@NaturalHealthNetwork

I have not noticed a grainy texture with the almond cow at all however the milk is thinner than with the mio mat. I hope this helps! Thanks so much for stopping by the channel! If you have further questions feel free to e-mail me at hello@withsarahjane.com

I saw on a review that the oat milk made in the miomat comes put slimy cause it heats it up. Have you found this to be true?
@NaturalHealthNetwork
@NaturalHealthNetwork 2 года назад
That has not been my experience, it's very comparable to the milk I make in the Almond cow except it's a little thicker.
@miomatofficial
@miomatofficial 2 года назад
Life-hack - If you use blanched almonds you don't have to strain the almond milk! 😉 If you soak them there will be no pulp at all. 😊

I'm thinking I'll maybe go for the MioMat, unless I decide on a smaller thing (lower wattage, etc).

I don't know of a smaller machine that will do the same thing as the MioMat. If you find one tell me! If you decide on the MioMat be sure to grab the discount code in the description of this video to save some money. Thank you for stopping by!

@@NaturalHealthNetwork I have ordered the MioMat. I used a code but it was one at their website. Amazon has a few of them but it would cost slightly more. As for small...there's The Nutr (Amazon, etc). 500 watts. Makes much less, though. Decided I want to make a larger quantity.

Update: I am very happy with the Miomat -- it's great. But now I want to have the option of making a very small quantity as well, so I've added a Nutr to my countertop. I've tried it once so far and it's also great! (Edit to clarify...the Miomat won't allow making just a single serving.)

Does the mio mat heat up the milk? Is there a way to do it without heating?
@NaturalHealthNetwork

Yes it does. You can use the smoothie setting and it will not heat up.

Great Review! I am still on the fence about which one to buy but I am leaning to towards the Almond Cow because of the convenience and speed but you bring up good points about the Mio Mat.

How much nuts does the Mio Mat machine hold?
@NaturalHealthNetwork
@NaturalHealthNetwork 2 года назад
With the MioMat there is not technically a limit to the amount of nuts it can hold as long as the liquid does not go over the fill line. In the almond cow the filter limits you to 1 cup of nuts or ingredients and this is not the case with the MioMat.
