1 1/2 cups almond milk/ water 3/4 cup almond butter 1/3 cup maple syrup OR 3/4 cup pitted Medjool dates 1 tablespoon vanilla extract 1 teaspoon salt blend and freeze
I made this and added 2 tbsp of cocoa and 2 tbsp of brewed coffee and it tasted like mocha ice cream ( I didn't use the dates). Very good. Thank you. New Subscriber.
i tried making this while following the low FODMAP diet for IBS. it’s SO good, i finally got to relieve the craving i had for ice cream. thank you for sharing, you made my life a little more enjoyable :)
Get e functional doc u might have SIBO. I have IBS 75% of people have small intestinal bacterial over growth which causes IBS symptoms. Of natural paths
If you have a 1/2 cup serving, this still ends up being slightly lower in calories than ice cream made with heavy cream, like Haagen Daz. But, it's definitely not a "low calorie" recipe. Banana ice cream might be something you'd enjoy more!
If you make your own homemade almond milk just filter away the shell after blending. Also probably 2-3dl almonds for 1 liter water. As you want it extra fat if you want to skip the almond butter. But might still almond butter. As a lot of recipes seem to add oil or some type of fat. I just got myself an ice cream machine so im going to try a lot of these experiments myself thanks for the ideas ! And feedback! Dont know why she she didn't filter it. As home made almond milk is always filtered otherwise its really grainy and unpleasant and can make you cough.
I got my machine last week and just today made some ice cream. It was done in half the time! Pretty cool. I'm going to try and use cashew milk next time and not so many dates.
You can also use almonds and water processed till very thick and smooth. Using a cheesecloth or other cloth filter, strain all the milk out, keep almond pulp for other recipes. Refrigerate the almond milk overnight, next day use same recipe, with almond butter and dates. Tip: if you mix 1/4 cup of cashews when making almond milk...this will make it extra rich. Thank you for the recipe.
If you are blending almond, you are losing the butter, in order to gain that butter add desired cup of heavy milk and maybe add 1 or 2 yolk. Try it and enjoy! 😉
I will probably try this with oat milk. I can't have almonds as it's high in oxalates and causes kidney stones. I'm sure this is a great alternative to ice cream though, and I will certainly experiment.
Could you make some baked yummies using cassava flour. Nut free? You're so talented that if anyone could rip out some awesome ones it would be you. It's really lacking online and on RU-vid. So many of us have allergies and autoimmune disorders, and grains, nuts and seeds are just not allowed. They even make a banana flour which can take the place of coconut flour in recipes. Just a fyi
I purposefully wanted to keep this recipe vegan, so I didn't attempt a version with eggs. I'm not sure which method would work better if you compared them side by side. I'd love to hear if you try it!
All right, Brian, you can do this. You can dump her. Because once it's done, never again will you have to listen to her talk like this? You know, where everything has a question mark at the end of it? With an upward inflection at the end of every sentence?
I haven't tested that with this recipe yet, but I do have a dairy-free strawberry ice cream recipe already: detoxinista.com/vegan-strawberry-ice-cream/
Cashews work perfectly in vegan ice cream, you can definitely follow this recipe the same and replace the almond items with cashew, what i do is soak cashews over night and blend them until it becomes a creamy consistency. The best vegan ice cream i ever made was a combination of blended cashews with a tin of coconut milk which was about 90% cream, 500g strawberries, xylitol syrup (granulated xylitol boiled in water and cooled down) and vanilla. I still think about it sometimes hahaha
Using maple syrup is the same of using sugar and the situation is much worse using medjool, fructose and glucose are the problems. Very unhealthy recipe...
