Wow that is crazy and glad the US border patrol gave you sound advice that worked out for you. Steph, if you read this, it was so lovely being able to get to know you and see you and Bobby enjoying traveling together. Life changes and you made a decision that was in your best interest. I hope you're doing well in school now and enjoying college life. I hope at some point when your life is in a different place again, you will be able to show back up in an adventure with Bobby on a boat or RV trip. Best of luck to you.

Great advice from our officers. I'm glad you didn't fall into their trap. My Mexico visiting days are over. Your experience is just another example why I will not go back. I've have a few stories of my own after I worked there off and on for several years.

Over the years I've been in Mexico dozens of times and almost every time something happens because of idiot mentality and I regretted going there.. I don't go into Mexico anymore. I love the USA and its plenty big to find plenty of FUN in an RV .. thumbs down for Mexico !!!

I’d be concerned about visiting Mexico again. They may have your name on a list somewhere as absconding without paying a fine. Could become a nightmare. Frankly, I wouldn’t visit that shithole narco state if you paid me.

Made that drive multiple times and always had to make a number of 'donations'. Did the wrong lane payment a couple of times! Great adventure!

I used to travel on business and pleasure all over Mexico until about 20 years ago. A good friend with an agency told me to never ever go back as the corruption and crime are wildly out of control.

Loved seeing Steph’s smile and cheeky nature…..great memories.

And shortly after, Stephanie was like this sh*t ain't for me, adios amigo.

I had trouble crossing back over in 1987 ,cost me about 250.00 guess they figured that was all I was worth,haven't been back...feels good to be home don't it.

I lived in Mexico. Guadalajara. It’s all about playing the corrupt game. When I flew for a major airline, they targeted the crew, especially with iPads! You could only bring one. Well most crews have the company ipad and a personal iPad. When corrupt Mexican government officials started confiscating iPads, crews gave them the company iPad. Soon 🔜 flight were cancelled due to not having the proper equipment on the plane, the iPad, to fly! Next think you know it, it got fixed! The corrupt Mexican officials wanted you to pay duty on the extra iPad too!

We used to go down there all the time and loved the isolation. Things are sketchy there now.

As for the current situation in Mexico? We have good friends with lots of family in Mexico long time Mexican residents. They haven’t gone home to visit family for a long time due to being targeted by the organized crime. Its far more dangerous for them to visit vs a American but they told us its not a good time to visit Mexico suggested Spain as an alternative. When a Mexican family with 5 generations of history in Mexico suggests a trip to Spain over Mexico you know its not a good idea. Sad situation.

Wow. Did you cross at Mexicali East? Even the right lane for busses and RVs is tight. We have a place in Mulege and had a 36ft Winnebago Journey similar to yours. Got tired of driving it down those narrow roads. Smacked mirrors with trucks a couple of times.

I have a enclosed car hauling trailer about the same size as your motorhome. It’s roof delaminated just like your roof did. It’s caused by the flexing up and down longitudinally as you drive over bumpy roads (ie. most Mexican roads and all of Interstate 40 in the USA.). The turn down flange on the roof is sealed and screwed to the sides and isn’t able to over come the flexing. The screws rip out of the sidewall and also usually rip thru the metal/fiberglass of the roof. Obviously this has happened before and certainly will happen again as it’s driven. Also, friends of mine had their passports stolen out of the safe in their resort room last (and certainly the LAST time they are going to Mexico) time they visited over the border south. 🙈🙈🥵

Steph was great. So sorry to see her go. But many (all) of the women that have passed through Bobby's life on this channel never aspired to sail (with Bobby, in Taylor's case) indefinitely. Meagan only signed on for a definite term. Laura and Bobby split for unstated reasons, She went back to nursing, and moved on. Taylor only signed on for 9(?) months. Gee vacations with Bobby but has a life elsewhere. Steph has aspired to other adventures in life. Individual choices; nothing negative about any of them. This video nicely explains why I would NEVER go to Mexico. NEVER.

How many passports did you have to replace? A friend of mine got his done in three days for like less than $100 bucks.

I hadn't done any international travel before and drove into Canada. I'm sure thousands of people go across the border without any issue every day, but I found the signs on the drive up to the border unclear, with acronyms I didn't understand and arrows pointing this way and that. There were several lanes wide open so I just took the closest one. I randomly picked the wrong one. They made me pull over and answer some questions but I was back on the road 15 min later. On the way back I'm following the cars in front of me, doing exactly what those cars were doing, and the guy comes out the booth and starts yelling that I was blocking some kind of sensor and drove through a stop sign. There was no freaking stop sign, I assure you. There was some badly eroded yellow paint on the ground but if it once said stop that was long ago. He blew off steam for a minute telling me that he should have me pull out and undergo some 3 hour process. I just stayed cool and apologized explaining that I was a first time traveler, new to the border, and appreciated his instructions. With that I got on my way. I'm probably just an idiot but I'm 100% positive with a little effort and investment in good signs they could fix these issues that must make them hate their jobs.

Does 2 passports cost 1500$ to get reissued. now i know why alot of Americans dont travel abroad. In sweden a passport cost about 35 and the EU ID_card cost 10$ giving entry to all schengen.

While stationed in San Diego we went to TJ, and I got ripped off in a small bar. I told the barkeeper I wanted my money back, he yelled out something in Spanish and a cop came walking in so I grabbed the cop and threw him over the bar into a giant mirror and bottles of liquor knocking him out. Told the barkeeper he was next, he gave me all of my money back and we made a b-line for the boarder. Haven't been back to TJ since.

I probably wouldn't be planning any trips to Mexico very soon. They probably have you flagged if you ever show up again.

A couple of days to get new passports...Wow that's great. It takes over a year up here just to renew and that's if your a citizen. If your not its 3 weeks...lol Glad your back . but will it be a prob if your go back ever?

Passport Cards are only good for Mexico and Canada. Did you give them the cards or the booklet. They absolutely would have impounded your RV. Not to be a jerk. When I was drinking a lot shit like that would happen all the time. Couldn’t catch a break. Cut way back and been trouble free smooth sailing ever since. Be careful Bob you have a lot of people that like an appreciate you and your friends.

I used to go surfing in Baja all the time when I was a kid. Now you couldn't pay me to go there. Not worth it.

Use toll roads in Mexico. A toll road will have a letter D and/or CUOTA to identify it. You will have roadside service, wide lanes and shoulders.
