i really love ashlyns version of jane because she takes the character and changes it into a more childish innocent girl with more confusion and i feel her acting makes the story of her even more sad- emily always rocks it though i love her
i wish someone could play the character as a mix of emily and ashlyn’s performances. i love the gravitas that emily brings to the role. she really has the vibe of a dead person. someone who has seen everything and yet nothing all at once. but ashlyn plays it more like a child and like a doll. penny died as a child and is wearing the head of a doll. so it makes sense to play that up a little more. and i prefer the general choreography of emily’s version of the song but i also really really like how the loose arm movements ashlyn does while in the air makes her look like a ragdoll being flung around by a child. emily’s jane is like an antique porcelain doll and ashlyn’s is like a very often played with rag doll. and i would love to find some way to combine those vibes.
I feel Emily captured jane best. Even though Ashlyn managed to preform emotion, Jane wouldn’t have had that. She has no soul, feeling pity over her death, but only a shadow of who she would’ve been in life.
Emily Rohm's will always be my favorite Jane but Ashlyn Maddox's encapsulates how Penny was (in Legoland) before the disaster more but also Rohm's fits more into that eerie blank slate not knowing who she is thing so I like both of them a Lot My personal interpretation of her is similar to Rohm's appearance as Jane but with Maddox's voice kinda and a mix of their acting :3
they all did a great job but emily and ashlyn will always have a special place in my heart (i know this whole #saverickypotts thing going on and the stuff about mccarter theatre)
@@emphobia2268 so basically McCarter theatre fired their early (i think) version of Ricky potts Which was yannick, A disabled person with alot to offer. They fired them because "he couldnt do enough" even though they went through many shows with their cane and wheelchair. So they're abelist. And they (the original writers of the script i think) were talking about removing rickys disability completely. He would still be mute, it would just be a trauma response rather than just losing the ability to speak. So naturally, since alot of people love ricky for who he is, they decided to start a hashtag and even a fundraiser to keep the disability in the script. Even Yannick whom i spoke about earlier, Was in on the whole thing. lots of people were. :)
I see some other people saying that they like Ashlyn’s version or something, but honestly I think that Emily’s is better because She makes it more dramatic and I think it sounds better.
@@TobiQTYT okay sweet ! If you don’t fell comfortable with giving me your insta I completely understand just leave a comment under one of my rtc vids !
The McCarter boot at 1:38 is different than the one that's been circulating around the internet along with the 2016 Off-Broadway proshot. Would you be willing to share it?
