Almost heaven barrel sauna 6 months later review - the good -the bad Fitness recovery is key! but is it worth having a home sauna ? #barrelsauna #saunareview #homesauan
Don’t cover up the lower vents they work with the higher vent, just make the same wooden cover. The heat will always rise above the heat source so the lower your stove the better. To help with this have benches above stove or use your towel to fan the heated air inside the sauna like a ceiling fan. This will cause equilibrium inside for a few minutes.
I built a raised bench for my barrel using a couple of 2x4s, a saw, sandpaper, 3 inch screws, a drill and a level. This way my butt is in that warm mid torso range and my head is closer to the top of the inside. Works great and no cold feet!
Good video, just so you know, yes varnish it to keep the nice natural color. If you don't then it turned black. However if you would like to bring it back like new, you can always clean the outside with javex it will turn it back white and after a week when it's nice and goldish varnish it my friend.
Thanks for the video bro. Doing research myself... after a year with this sauna... hows the CRACKS due to expansion and contraction of the wood with the heat/humidity/winter etc??
thanks for the vid. man I am thinking about this sauna or DIY one. question: can you stand and stretch in there. did you get the 2 or 4 person one? cheers!
This is the 4 person. Stand yes I’m 5’8 anyone taller might need to slouch! As far as stretching arms to the side that’s about it. It’s spacious in a compact way if that makes sense. Hope it helps
That is stupid mistake from Harvia to do 1 hour timer like that. Typically in finland those have 4h+4h timer. Another problem is that the stove is too high. Of course in that case there might be limitations in space, but usually stoves highest point is at the same level as your feet.😄
I'm thinking about doing this too. My only thing I'm anxious about is setup? Like the ground what do I do there. And the electricity in guessing I'm going to bed to have electrician dig it underground to the backyard corner?
I dug out about 3 inches for gravel and placed the sauna base on patio blocks! Honestly that’s going to be the hardest part of the setup, definitely get some help with the digging!
Does it get dark inside when you go in at night? I’ve been searching RU-vid and the internet but there isn’t much on lighting for barrel sauna. I ordered a barrel sauna and a sauna lampshade to go with it, but I’m having second thoughts without seeing anyone else with a light inside theirs.
my Almost Heaven sauna package came with a small light strip that i mounted near the floor, under the heater. it's great! I don't use it every time though, as i get enough ambient light in my yard coming through the glass door.
I use mine 12 times a month and my electricity bill went up approximately $125. I typically leave the heater on for approximately > 1-1/2 hours each use. Is it worth it? Kind of hard to say. I could use one at the gym and pay only about + or - $50 month gym membership, but I dislike having to change clothes and shower there afterwards, and also they are so full of germs that you can’t lie down and relax in a gym’s sauna.
