Almost Perfect: The UGreeen PowerRoam 1200 and SC200 Solar Panels

The PowerRoam 1200 is almost perfect as a mid-size portable battery-the only downside being that the carry-handle doesn't fold over, and there's no Qi charging pad. It can power AC continuously up to 1200W (or some higher-powered appliances in UTurbo mode), along with a selection of high-power USB ports, and a built-in emergency lighting system. App control over Bluetooth or Wi-Fi rounds out this great value battery.
The SC200 panels, of which you can pair a maximum of two with the PowerRoam 1200 to charge in around 4 hours, are well-designed and include an angle guide to help you get optimal output. Unfortunately, a little power is wasted when connected to the battery using the included Y-splitter cabling, and out of the box you can't do series wiring for full efficiency.

I just returned the panel because of the MC4 cable polarity issue. Thank god I did not connect it to my station. Can't believe Ugreen engineers made the panel with MC4 out with reversed polarity to every other solar panel under the sun.

Just got this battery last week to help power my shed. Like you, I found that getting some static panels was cheaper and better suited for my case. I got a pair at 20v 5amp that got me about 800 watts in a day without adjusting position throughout the day. Testing to see what I get with a series connection, but so far this is plenty for my needs. The app is handy, and as mentioned WiFi connection is a bit odd, but it seemed to stick after a while. Once connected it's really nice to keep tabs on inputs and outputs, and you can adjust any of the settings.

By the way, one thing that got my attention with this battery is that the acceptable voltages for charging are pretty broad compare to other similar products. While 400watts max is not the most impressive thing in the world, the fact that it can get charge from 48 volts down to 11, means that you can gather energy in a fairly broad range of conditions. It also means that it's compatible with a wide range of solar panels. Pretty great!

Is it normal that in cloudy weather the solar panel produces only 0-5 watts? 😥The panel is 200 Watt, full-fledged, not folding.

I don't care what model number they call it. Om buying the product, not a model name. Afterall, the specs are clearly visible and available. My only minor complaint if Im being picky is the handle doesn't fold flat. Agree with your view on the demure design...not quite as good looking as a Vtoman. I'd prefer a separate power brick...when it goes wrong you just get a new power brick sent rather than sending the whole unit back under warranty

Fair point, but it's the psychology of scrolling through a list of similar products for those who aren't fully clued up on specs - big number seems better, when in fact, it's not.

thank you for your video Keep up the good work . I am a subscriber But for the life of me I can't seem to buy this in the UK from the U Green website you linked in your websites article or via Amazon! Can you explain how I can purchase this residing in the UK please?

Maybe the connectors identify as their opposites? Here in the States, if you plug 2 waffle irons into the same circuit, you'll trip a breaker. What happens to units like this if you exceed the amps they can deliver? Do they just not work, or shut off? No rush on an answer, just curious. Also, bonus points for multiple uses of "make use of" in your review dialog. GR,AA =)

Just shuts down and triggers the alarm, you have to turn the AC on an off again; assuming you actually exceed it, sometimes if you're quick you can catch it and turn off one of the appliances, since they can handle a little above the surge value for a few seconds.

That cable for that panel is a mess. haha. I wonder what cable they will provide in the future. Are you aware of an update at this point.

would this power station run a Diesel heater from the DC outlet? Seem to get conflicting opinions on the DC outputs on all power stations.
@MakeUseOf
@MakeUseOf Год назад
I'm afraid I'm not familiar with the concept of a diesel heater. Surely it requires... diesel, to run?
@johnhilton9184
@johnhilton9184 Год назад
@@MakeUseOf yes but it also needs electrical power to fire up the diesel. Load of these heaters are fitted in camper van etc. Cheap to buy and relatively easy to fit. I seem to get conficting views about one running from a 12volt DC outlet on a power station.

Nope, I'd go with the AC180.
