I decided, why not make a full care and collection about Alocasias all in one video?!
I currently have 5 Alocasias in my houseplant collection. I get asked about my Alocasias more than any other plants, so I decided to showcase all my Alocasias I currently have and what I do to care for them.
In this video we go right into talking about Alocasia houseplant care. I go into watering, lighting, soil mixture and humidity levels.
And then we get into the good stuff with my houseplant collection, but only my Alocasias.
There's even a sneek peek plant I got this month that I wasn't going to show until my plant haul, but you'll see it a little early 😉

What is your favorite Alocasia? Do you have any Alocasias? 🤍🌿

Alocasia are my favorite. I have several. Morroco, Dragon Scale, Imperial Red, Micholitziana, Odora, Polly, Regal Shield, and Reginula. The last one I want to add to my collection is a Silver Dragon. BTW, hello from a fellow Floridian! 👋

I’ve got an alocasia Polly. It lost two of the three leaves. The last leaf turned sideways perpendicular to the floor. I just kept watering and oddcaionslly misting it (I don’t have a humidifier yet). Now the leaf is back straight up and down. It’s in the living room with a west window. It gets touched by the late afternoon sun. I think I might need an individual grow light for it but for now it’s happy, sort of but no light. I’ve had it about 5 months. That’s my alocasia story. I need to change the soil according to what you use as mine is in regular soil. But I need to get some perlight and orchid bark to mix in with it. I was thinking dime cactus mix. What do you think of my mixing it with potting soil, coco coir and the d CD cactus mix? Would that work? It drains well. (The cactus mix). Though it’s not as loose as what you’re using.

Hey lisa, Alocasia pollys are so cute! You could try getting a grow light, I wouldn’t hurt it...as far as potting soil, you may want to just add a good amount of perlite to your mix, just to fluff it up a bit. The cactus soil is fine, but like you said it can be a little heavy, and the perlite will lighten it up a little bit.
