love to see someone who is having everything go wrong and still has a positive attitude. when people get angry or sad when things go wrong they only get worse. great videos man.
Really appreciate the effort he puts into the videos, seemed like nearly everything that could have gone wrong did and still kept moving forward and kept a good attitude.
Rod’s calm and positive attitude are something I aspire to emulate when I have things go wrong. I sometimes have the reflex to get frustrated. Rod just dealt with it and moved on while still trying to enjoy himself, and in the end it looked like he was having a great time. He chose to. He’s really the kind of guy that should be making adventure videos like this.
The rollercoaster of emotions for whether or not we were gonna have cracklins was intense. 😁 *Whew* the DRAMA and RELIEF! Either way, it's always a win! Can't wait for the next one!
Man it looked like you were having one of those days. But then you said carpaccio and I knew your day had turned around. Excellent recipe. I used to serve that in a high end restaurant. Then the crunch at the end. Well played old boy!
It's so important to stay positive even if things don't go to plan, and although the negativity was there, it's important to show that it's okay for things not to go as planned and to still end up positive about the situation. I definitely appreciated seeing the effort to transition around from being negative to a net positive result!
Exactly. I think that actually contributed a lot of depth to this video. He’s sometimes said that he worries he complains too much on camera. On the contrary, I think he’s really positive and determined to have a good time despite things not always going great.
I feel like having to adapt to the situation and react to the storm, the island not being so ideal for camp and having to resort to cast fishing instead of spear made it all that more entertaining. Especially having to quickly set up camp and pick a spot because of the storm on the way. Stirred the pot and kept me on the edge of my seat to see what happens next. Made for such raw and authentic content and entertainment 👍
@@alexvillalobos7137 well if I want to go to the ocean, that's a 9 hr drive for me. The closest thing I found is a 5-7 day canoe trip in Canada and that is a series of lakes in algonquin provincial park. Which I was actually supposed to do last year but ya know.. Pandemic. Hopefully I can get there this year or next
Rod. Thank you for this channel. My son is a very devoted and avid follower of your adventures. I wanted you to know that you have been a role model to our 12-year-old boy here in Southern California, USA from all the way over there in Aus. He is an active boy with many interests, RC plane building and flying, rugby, surfing, sailing, fishing, and now spearfishing because of you. I wish you can see our little guy channel you: he limits the number of fish he shoots to only what he can eat, leaving no trace when he leaves the beach, cleaning and cooking his own fish, and now growing his own salad and herbs for his fish (he saw you do this in one of your episodes). As a parent I can't thank you enough for this positive influence you have on him. You are making a long-lasting difference.
nothing in your videos is ever a bummer. Except the flooding .. I'm always stoked to see you have a new video up! Stay well man, much love from the USA!
All this takes is a little perspective. Even with the little things that went wrong , I would had a great time on this day. Being out and about on the ocean, Catching a fish to eat, enjoying a bit of a storm. All of it lovely! Great vid Rod, keep up the awesome work.
Depends how you look at it, you can get angry because rain is falling or you can just enjoy the rain. It's about mentality, had some people with me on trips that would complain about everything and some people don't complain about anything
Nothing like camping in a storm. I do all my canoeing up north in Canada, so not quite the same type of storm as what you’re going through, but still one hell of a time. Great vid bro
You know, I really like you sharing a vid that shows a struggle. Having perfect vids from you tubers gets tiresome, where as a little reality connects with me more. Cheers mate, loving your vids.
I was watching on my TV, saw the intro, had to pull this up on my computer just to tell you... THAT INTRO was so nice man. I watch every video you put out. Love from the USA
Yes! I just cant have enough of your videos :O Loving the intro style too Man, even just watching that storm gets me excited! I love sitting in the middle of a storm
I must watch hundreds of youtubers Rod, but your vids are TOP of my favourites. Take me back to exactly the sort of things I did in my younger days. Love it mate.
Turned into a nice little adventure. Race against the storm, fresh dinner with the sound of rain on the tarp and a little fire to end the night. Perfection!
I enjoy all your vids, but this one is one of my favorites. Despite the multitude of things that go wrong you still get some beautiful shots of good and bad weather, still catch a bunch of fish, and got awesome shots of the reef. Sometimes suffering makes the trip worth it.
It's good to see a video where things aren't going so well. It shows the reality & this one showed that you are adaptable too. I've recently put one up where I lost my car keys so the car had to be recovered on a lorry. My keys were found so all ok now, but people identify with all the stuff that doesn't go to plan. I'm glad you put it up. Thanks. Missing kayak videos though.
I just want to thank you! I can be having a day from hell and watching you always turns it around. I swear you are such a positive person, even in the worst case scenarios. Keep these vlogs coming please!! Always worth the wait!!! XOXOXOX
Loving the quality of your videos (editing, drone shots, etc.). Even with a day of some things going wrong, thanks for making the trip and posting for us to watch and enjoy!
Another gold episode!! Even when things don’t go right it’s still great just being out there! Every fisherman knows this... Keep the vids coming Rod... Love them!!
Love your videos mate, we are all living vicariously through you, and your good fortune to live where you do. Question about the islands: is there a set length of time you can visit, or is a long term trip possible? If so, what is the max length you can camp on any island in the larger group?Given that you had enough water. Thanks again, and we all look forward to your new videos! Cheers.
We've all had days where things go wrong. I'm always interested in seeing how others deal with adversity, and you did really well, Rod. You didn't lose sight of your own safety even as you were making your video, and that's how you live long and prosper. ;) I'm looking forward to Part 2.
i like the bit of chaos in this one, it breaks the format a little and keeps true to the nature of an honest outing, and that honesty is what i’ve always appreciated about your vids! and the feeling of an impending storm is uniquely exciting too, i say as i lay here in my pajamas lol. thanks for another good one!
