Love watching your videos, today we had frost and here in Scotland the clocks went back an hour last night so it will slowly be dark by 4pm and it will be about 9 am before its totally light, today i did what you do stuck my duvet outside for a few hours and oh my they smell so fresh, I love the dark winter months here in Scotland, love getting up on a frosty morning hot shower and then heading down stairs from my flat to my shop to start work ( I own 2 convenience stores )

I recently started watching from Phoenix AZ USA, where we just dropped below triple digit temps. I can't imagine living in your temps, but escaping to your channel with snow, polar nights, and sparse population is a refreshing escape, especially right now during a volatile political time here. Cecilia I think one of the loved BBC weather guy's is a fan. We actually had a report that polar night begins on Svalbard on 6pm news weather segment. I'm in Quebec and it's hard to explain to people from warmer climates but today is significantly colder and it isn't snowing yet but you can "smell" the snow in the air... I'm sure you know what i mean.

As someone who moved far enough south that we only have 2 months of winter, I admire you. I get cold at 50 degrees so it makes me smile to see you in just your pjs perfectly happy at 32F. We had the ice storm 3 years ago and our living room was 32F for 6 days. I was miserable, but I think you would have happily made coffee and carried on :)

I really appreciate Cecilia’s enthusiasm for whatever weather Svalbard provides. Here in England we’ve just put our clocks back an hour for the end of British Summer Time so we’re back to GMT. Personally, I dislike the fewer and fewer daylight hours we get in winter and I’m always waiting for the solstice to pass so the days slowly begin to lengthen again.
I absolutely love it getting dark earlier. I put my jammies on at 4:00 when I don't have to drive my daughter around for swimming lol. Turn the fireplace on and hang out. It's always so cozy in the winter.

Hi! I'm from the United States and I was fortunate to see the Northern Light this month. It was truly on my bucket list to see the Northern Light but I am excited to add on my bucket list traveling in the Northern atmosphere to experience both the polar day and nights.

I'm in Ontario and its dark around 6 pm and I hide I realize, and don't enjoy the dark because I live in a city, we are having issues with drug addicts, I'm afraid to walk at night....I can see that you don't have that fear, nobody there to surprise attack you and beat you up or steal your dog..I realize you have to carry a gun for polar bears...but they are not hiding behind a bush...I think I need to find away to enjoy our darkness....so happy your book is receiving the accolades it deserves...congratulation

Thank you for taking us along with you and Grim as you count down to the polar night. I especially love the little tidbits we learn from you about Svalbard-like the no spiders or bugs. I live in Texas so I cannot even begin to comprehend what it’s like not having those creepy crawlers around all the time (I think I would like it though🙂).
