Right? I love that those just poke out of the void 😂. And it was hilarious with this cat as she seemed super focused on something in the room for the first few minutes, though I suspect that was her way of avoiding making eye contact with Vanessa 😅
Black cats are definitely beautiful. A feral female Tortie had a litter of 3, one was a beautiful black kitten. I already had the mom, and 3 kittens from another feral cat. I just couldn't keep one more...sure wanted to keep the black one though. But my vet took the 3 kittens and found them good homes.
I agree! They are such sweethearts that get a bad rep just because of superstitions that surround them. I love how their eyes convey so much bc everything else is void haha. They’re so cute
Scratching the kitty right in front of the tail is an excellent way to make friends! Her extra toes make her a polydactyl cat. It always sounded like a prehistoric flying reptile to me.
I was going to say the same thing. If you wanna make friends and you’ve passed the sniff test, scratch her by her tail. Polydactyl cats are also called Hemingway cats. Ernest Hemingway loved polydactyl cats and had quite a few of them in his lifetime.
Same. My childhood cat never had a professional cleaning, and she also didn’t really need baths, but my mom was horribly allergic so he still gave her baths every 3-6 months. She was short haired which helped a bit.
My daughter was petting a stray cat at the park, and it bit her knuckle. That night, she had to go to the hospital for a two-day stay because of the pain and swelling, getting treated with antibiotics.
A few years ago our new kitten drooled on me and it got into a scratch on my leg . I ended up with necrotizing fasheitus and lost my muscles on my lower left leg. 8months in the hospital.
@@hillbillydiva1309 Oh that's terrible! I can't remember what they called what my daughter had, but whatever it was, they told her it could spread even with the antibiotics. Fortunately, the antibiotics stopped it. It's incredible something so simple as kitten drool could cause such problems.
When I read "black void cat" at first I thought it was an actual breed. :D Then I saw the look in Trixie's eyes and I knew... she sees the void. Constantly. o.o That said, what a beautiful creature, with her purrs and high-heeled extra talons and feisty attitude toward dogs! Edit: omg the story about a cat attaching itself to the groomer's face Alien-style. xO Stuff of nightmares, that!
My most recent cat was really into being held, cuddled, etc, except at the vet's office where he would turn into an inconsolably angry devil child. He was a rescue, his front feet had already been declawed. When he would try to use his front feet as if he had claws, his vet would move her hand away. She explained that it is important to respect the intention - if you disregard it and "manhandle" the cat because he doesn't have front claws, the cat will escalate his anger. In the cat's view, since the claws are apparently ineffective, he'll turn to biting. So if you want a cat that bites immediately anytime they're upset, just disregard that they're declawed in the front (or at all, I'd think). So she'd respect his intention to claw her, and would take safer measures like wrapping him in a towel in order to give him a shot or draw labs, dental work, etc (he was too old to sedate for dental work - she'd make him into a burrito, and do as much as he'd tolerate even if it was 1 minute).
One of my cat is a rescue, abused for years, and he can be quite reactive in certain situations. He has already bitten 3 persons to blood (me included), and I was the only one not getting and infection. Cat scratches and bites can make nasty scars too (my right forearm can testify), so yeah, being careful is the right thing to do
What a sweet darling, she did very well for an old cat on her first proper groom :) That does remind me my 16 year olds need their nails trimmed, I better book them in!
What a beautiful void kitty 🥰 Cats go from 0 to 10 really quick compared to dogs (in my very limited experience of bathing both pet species). During baths, my one cat will jump onto and climb my neck and shoulders to get onto my back to avoid me reaching him. He'll cling for dear life, I have to wait until he jumps down to get him. It's like trying to grapple a stick of butter with wet, soapy hands. 😂
VANESSA: “If you like the comb why are you hissing at me?” *12:15* KITTY: “Because you need to be kept in your place human.”
Aww she looks just like the kitty I had growing up. One of my cats bit me and I had to go to urgent care and take antibiotics for a week. I still love her but yeesh.
Yesterday we adopted a little solid black void, her name is Nyx. Originally was going to call her Hera but for some reason it didn't fit, but Nyx does.
I was *shocked* to hear that they NEVER had them clipped !!! I have two cats -- one I can clip home, and one who will tear me to shreds if I even try to get _near_ her paws. We at least take her to the vet to get her nails trimmed then. There's really no excuse!
Definitely no bath necessary. Our 15-pound outdoor cat could not be scruffed either, death spin activated immediately if we tried to hold him down like that. 😅 Towel wrap for meds was the only method.
You’re brave , I wouldn’t attempt a groom on any animal that’s gone so long with out a groom , sounds like a trap. The owners would be in there with me and trick no treats.
yes it is as they have dangerous bacteria in their mouth. if a cat bites you, get to a&e asap to get antibiotics etc as if left untreated, at quickly as 24/48hrs you can develop sepsis or at least a very bad infection
I've mainly heard polydactyl cats called Hemingway cats. If you visit his house in Key West, they keep a population of descendants from his cats there. They are very well taken care of and are beautiful.
It has a lot to do with how they’re raised, and also a cat will usually ve more comfortable with its owners than a stranger heh, that’s why Vanessa gets the sass sometimes. But I have 3 cats and all super well behaved
My Queen purred the whole time I tried to clip her claws, then while I was holding her paw, she twisted away from me and gave the saddest cry. I will next place her on top of the dresser so she can't twist away into the wall. She is getting older and doesn't play as much because her nails are getting too long. Former feral with polydactyl paws. Thanks for a great video!
I did not know that you are supposed to report a bite that breaks the skin (Illinois) some years ago, the neighbors cat was on my porch. I did not care for these neighbors, as they did not take care of their animals. The week prior, their dog got hit by a car and died, right in front of our house, and I didn't want a similar fate for this car, so I decided to take it to them . When I picked up the cat, it went ballistic. But I was determined to return it. It tore me to shreds. My right hand took the brunt of the injuries, not only was I bleeding, I could see bone on one of my right knuckles. I didn't report it, or go to the Dr, I returned the cat and proceeded to scrub my wounds ( after soap and water) with a brush and iodine. Now, many years later, I have horrible arthritis in my right hand. Not sure if it's accurate, but I've always assumed it was from that incident. Anyone know ??
Medical lab scientist - some of the bacteria genera that are an extra risk from cat bites are Pasteurella and Bartonella. If we think we've found either in a routine culture, we get to do an extra deep decontamination of our workspace and consult a doctor about potential antibiotic pre-treatment, just from handling it.. Pasteurella species can also be found in cattle, sheep, and birds, though they're typically less likely to cause deep puncture wound bites. Bartonella can be transmitted by mosquito bites and can be found in all kinds of mammals. There's extra risk from punctures though. The bacteria get a free ticket past a large part of your immune system. So yes, always seek medical care for deep puncture wounds from any animal bites.
It would be interesting too see how the cat videos do against the dog ones. I watch all the cat ones but when the dog gets too yappy or howly then I usually stop watching.
When cats are stressed in a new environment, they kind of stop smelling for a while until they've calmed down, which is why some cats seem to dislike the Churu
OH MY CAT! She is a doppelganger of my cat, Velvet. His fur was a little longer. He was a complete lump. Mellowest, laziest cat I ever had. But a big cuddle bug. I miss him.
She reminds me and looks almost identically to my male cat Captain Sparrow who is gone last year with 14.5 years old. It brings some smile and little tears into my face.😀
Hemingway cat! I remember when I visited the Florida Keys there is a large population of polydactyl cats around the Ernest Hemingway's house. So. Cute.
She reminds me so much of my black cat, Jasmine. We got her when she was an itty bitty kitten from one of my pre-school classmates, who had found her alone in their backyard. We had to put her down in April of 2023 due to her having leukemia, but she lived a good 13-14 years with us. Trixie has the same big-eyed look and fluffiness that Jazzy had
A man in Denmark died as a result of getting bit by a cat a year or two ago. And he did see medical treatment. So the bitey bits have to be taken very seriously.
When a cat is intensely looking around the room like this one is, you'd better let it have a sniff around the premises before grooming! Otherwise they will just be stressed out - you're preventing them from checking that the area is safe.
She's like a long-haired version of my polydactyl Veil. Veil has 6 toes on each rear foot instead of the usual 4 toes. She has the usual 5 toes on the front paws, but the dew claw is lower down on the leg closer to the main 4 toes and it's also jointed. She doesn't have the little claw tucked away by the dew claw like many polydactyl cats have. One of her sister has that extra claw and has 5 toes on the back instead of 4. Her other sister is the only one without extra toes.
😲 I know I've said before about similar characteristics to my kitty, but she is quite literally the spitting image of my beautiful boy. His fluffy voidness just turned 2 this summer ❤ Wish i could attach a pic
