Alpha (Arceus vs YHVH) [Pokemon vs Shin Megami Tensei] 

I’m rooting for Arceus (because it is a benevolent god compared to most JRPG dieties, and we’ve only ever obtained a FRAGMENT of Arceus’ power, not the true Alpha Pokémon), but I’m mentally prepared for YHVH to win. And I don’t WANT YHVH to win, because it’s one of the most monstrous variations of that god in media.

I'm reluctant to agree that YHVH clears this matchup, and putting aside my preference to the SMT franchise, I'd root for Arceus. I'd rather a benevolent portrayal of a creator deity to take the W over an incomprehensible despot who causes nothing but suffering and misery Come to think of it, I'd love to see a variant of the Demi-Fiend with Arceus' blessings

Even if YHVH stomps this matchup, it would make for some killer visuals. Imagine an endless field of YHVH heads and Arceus avatars staring each other down.

This is amazingly fitting. Arceus, the Alpha of all Pokemon. YHVH, God himself in the SMT multiverse. Divinity amidst infinity. Gods and deities above all. Rivaled by none until teenagers and young adults with their own mighty monsters and powerful pals subdue them.

God vs God, noble creator vs arrogance incarnate (SMT IV Apocalypse version anyway), a battle with all of creation at stake, and a track in that puts the audience in awe of their might.

SMT God would be incredibly awkward to be in an actual Death Battle, tbh, just from the fact that he doesn't have a name that's not awkward to put in the title of a DB.

I believe that YHVH wins, but if you are willing to agree to one assumption then it is actually fairly close. The first inarguable point is that it is shown in oras's delta episode that every individual save file in pokemon is its own canon alternate universe, the second inarguable point is that it is shown in Legends Arceus that the in game pokemon Arceus is just an Avatar of the true godly being created using an arbitrarily small portion of its power. Finally, the concession is the idea that this greater godly being is the same one in each of these universes, if we agree to this being the case then true form Arceus is the omnipotent god of a theoretically infinite multiverse which would put it up there with the non Axiom big dogs of smt.

While Arceus sadly loses I do imagine the ending being of YVYH facing the Original One. Seeing as how Arceus is merely an avatar of it. Though… imagine if Arceus were to win this. Like if this matchup was on DBX. Imagine YVYH’s final moments and what Arceus would do upon taking control of possibly the multiverse of SMT.

Truly great song to make my day better and I would vote for Arceus to win as he could beat YHVH. Especially with it's ways of "understanding" that would help deny YHVH as the One True God thanks to his experience with humanity.

That art looks great. As for the matchup itself, it seems cool. While I do prefer Arceus VS Aslan (or Primus), I could see this becoming a good alt.

Not the first matchup I would’ve liked for Arceus but the track is insane

The only thing it takes to even stand a chance to defeat Arceus is a freaking Shin Megami Tensei *god*. I do find that funny. Was quite curious about how this track would turn out when I first saw it. I was expecting something very otherwordly and grand for the most part and that's mostly what the song delivers in. It manages to actually feel otherwordly and alien to represent those two god characters and it does so while having a distinct mix of SMT and Pokémon OST which is quite enjoyable. I must emphasize that I really like how well this alien and transcending feeling is shown through the song. The song has a lot of melodies that each contrast a lot with each other all happening at once which creates a sense of chaos and incomprehension that make this "being above your comprehension" feeling very prevalent but it also still feels distinctly organized with a relatively soft general intensity and recognizable melodies nonetheless that still get across how those two are above comprehension, yes, but they're still *the* God of their respective universes who's created everything and who rules over it. However, and reading the description pretty much confirmed that for me, I do feel like the song, while it perfectly grasps that alien and transcending feeling as said before, does run a bit short in terms of feeling purely grand and, well, godly. Weirdly enough, it almost feels upbeat for the most part due to the speed and tone of some of the melodies (mainly the Pokémon side of things which is meshed really well into the song but adds a layer of speed and energy that makes the song feel a bit too joyful for the matchup in my opinion) and at no point in the song am I truly subjugated by scale and power as I should be from a song involving two supreme abstract gods fighting one another. The second half of the song starting at 2:10 does start to scratch that itch and there's bits of it scattered all across it in general but it never fully capitalizes on it which is a bit of a bummer because there's a lot of potential in there. Which is also why the second half of the song mentioned earlier is my favorite part of the song because it's the one that comes closest to this, especially during the couple of breaks it has where it actually feels like it's building up to something grand and overwhelming but it never truly comes which is a bummer. Even up to the end after 3:25 it kinda feels like the song is just "missing" one last absolutely grandiose and orchestral segment due to how paradoxically calm the ending is. It isn't an ending befitting of a supreme god striking down another in my opinion as it isn't nearly impactful or powerful enough. Overall as said before I do generally really like the song. It sounds extremely unique, meshes both franchises' OST really well and has the premise of an absolutely fantastic track. But it does fail a bit at fully exploiting that potential. It's far from bad and I most definitely enjoy it still for its positives that do outweigh the negatives. Amazing job with this as always.

There's really only two ways to look at this, one is an Arceus fragment AKA, what we use in game, to which Goat dies instantly. Or, God (hehe) forbid the amalgamation of Pokémon games sold PERIOD, to get a rough estimate of his actual strength, as all cartridges (at least from gen 4 onwards, though even that's debateable) are heavily implied to be alternate universes, which Arceus uses fragments of himself to watch over and intervinne. If we go with the latter, then you're calculting all copies that were sold of: Di Pe Pl, HG SS, B W, B2 W2, X and Y, Or As, S M, US UM, BP SP, LA, and S and V. And those are just the games that He's usable in, it could be debated that SwSh, the Let's go series, and good lord the mobile games can add to this. You can easily say that the anime and the split timelines of the movies are canon to Arceus' strength if you're truly insane enough. Hell, maybe he could exist in the games BEFORE HE WAS EVEN IDEALIZED AS A CONCEPT BY GAME FREAK!! To put it bluntly: there's a real fight here. A really scary, insane, confusing as hell, fight here.

Arceus is not to be trifled with despite what SMT players say. Awesome track regardless of opinions though. Heres an idea for a matchup and track though that I thought of, Naraku from Inuyasha vs Muzan from Demon Slayer. Both demons of human origins, schemers, look down on everyone but themselves, both trying to perfect themselves as demons... So many similarities make them a good matchup I think.

I just question how either could kill the other. While Arceus has an avatar through which it interacts with reality, the suggestion seems to be that the true form either exists in a different dimension entirely, or is straight up a paradoxical being of a singular consciousness with infinite physical multitudes. Meanwhile the only way YHVH dies is if people capable of perception can interpret him into a destructible form, which fellow SMT gods/demons/angels didn't seem capable of. Would Arceus be different, or would he require a human trainer to accomplish that?

I've seen a lot of people claim YHVH wins, and... maybe? I'm not too familiar about SMT scaling. But I _do_ know that the Pokemon multiverse's cosmological size and reach is actually a lot bigger than most people seem to know (infinite universes, those universes grow infinitely, as well as several dimensions reaching above and below the human characters' viewpoints), and Arceus readily scales to that for Outerversal+ at lower minimum. The horse/llama-like form is indeed just an avatar form for interacting with mortals (he even tells the player in _Legends: Arceus_ that his battle there was more of a "congrats kid, you impressed me" thing than anything else), and his true form passively exists in and across all things. So, yeah, I can't be 100% on betting, but I gladly root for the Original One as the truer loving version of the Creator deity of deities.

I’m less inclined to say this is a was with a. The arceus we see is a avatar with a small fraction of his power and b. YHVH kinda gets killed quite a few times in smt, aleph kills him in smt2 with no addition stuff besides his mom( the female party member you go through the game with is revealed to be your mom and that’s not even the biggest reveal in the cutscene that info is dropped in) and his demons in the neutral ending he doesn’t have satan or Lucifer in his party, he dies in smt4A and in smtV he his killed and absorbed by Lucifer So do I think YHVH wins yes but not easily

I think YHVH might have the edge but from what we know from legends it's heavily (Or just confirmed) that the Arceus we all know is just an avatar and the true thing is closer to what people see as a creator capital G God. So true Arceus might be the stronger being here. And YHVH only win due to Arceus being use for the battle being a avatar.

Idk anything about YHVH, but I know Arceus pretty well. I know he made Pokemon's infinite Multiverse, and his weakened Avatar that was missing 5 life plates one shot Dialga, and proceeded to beat up Palkia and Giratina at the same time, and won. Those 3 being able to rewrite the entire Infinite Multiverse to the point of being able to remove Concepts such as Strife, which was Cyrus's plan in Gen 4, so currently I give it to Arceus. But that's largely due to not knowing his opponent at all

Abilities: ALL Pokémon abilities, moves, etc. If a Pokémon can do it. He can. YHVH, The One True God Strength: Completely beyond the SMT cosmology. Views it as infinitesimal. SMT cosmology is really really fucking big. Infinitely large, infinite universes, dimensions, etc. Making it Outerversal. Speed: Irrelevant. It is all. Hax: Matter, mind, magic, law, conceptual, fate, life, death, information, manipulation. Existence Erasure. Powerful nullification. Arceus and YHVH are both completely beyond their reality but SMT has a bigger reality, so GG right? Well… no. And while he can erase beings from existence and completely decimate concepts Arceus has resisted those kinds of manips. Honestly. Neither of them are at all different beings. Like. They are one and the same. It's almost impossible for either to do anything to each other. They just kinda… exist. This is pretty much just a stalemate. Neither of them can erase the other. Both just kinda exist. YHVH exists in a higher plane, but it doesn't change the fact that strength and haxs are completely irrelevant against Arceus and YHVH. Eternal stalemate, pretty much.
