Thanks again Geo for performing the shave I recently suggested….The competition verified my exact feelings regarding the two razors as I certainly have not been able to distinguish between them either. They are both fantastic razors which I am very happy to have in my four man starting rotation! Sincerely, Butch-Rockwall, TX

When i had an electric razor i hated shaving, it was litterally the worst. When i watched Geo's video about the King C Gillette DE razor i went out and bought one together with shavenation bowl, brush and alum block. I also decided to buy proraso sensitive shaving cream and aftershave balm and watched how to lather. Now, shaving is the most fun thing i know, when im done shaving i just wait in happiness for the next time, its just so amazing with the brush and the end result! Thank you Geo! You made the worst thing i know into the funniest :) I am norwegian, so you inspire the entire world with your videos.

I wanted to point out to people that I did some homework and looked up the prices of the Proraso Balm, and the the ToBs Shaving Shop Cream. In both vases Shavenation was the same or slightly lower in price than the competition. This makes my decision on where to buy my shaving supplies. SHAVENATION rock on..

It’s weird i have tried so many other razors but the best razor for me is still the humble 34c with a feather blade.

Hi Tom, I got all snobby and left my 34c behind in favour of Outlaws, a Karve, a 6s, a Masamune and Nodachi, an AS-D2, a Blackbird, a Rex Envoy, EJ 3one6, a Rocca and 5 various Razorocks!! A couple of months ago I was deciding which razor to use and thought I would slum it for a laugh and use my old 34c with a Feather blade. It was a fantastic shave and I had forgotten what a great razor it is and it brought me back down to earth. 🤣🤣. It's a shame they never did a stainless version. The 34c is a truly superb razor!! Dave.

Geo💈💈 Excellent shave brother. I have a REX Ambassador and can't use above #3, but boy does it shave and the build quality is fantastic. Haven't used an Alpha but pretty sure I'd need the mild head. TOBS Shaving Shop cream sounds great, I guess an order to Shave Nation is on deck. Tell me it ain't so..Geo with a nick! 😮 I'm astonished, never thought I'd see that... Great video, well done, thanks. Take care, good health. See ya next time.

Hi Geo very interesting I bought the Outlaw but as much as I wanted to like it I couldn’t as the alignment was way out. The only way I could align it was to move the blade with my thumb nail un till it was aligned. The retailer I purchased it from kindly charged it and I had a Rex Envoy in its place and I couldn’t be more pleased I love the Envoy it quickly became my daily driver. Keep well and keep safe.

Hi Les, Sorry mate I completely mis-read your post yesterday........I thought you had gone for the Ambassador after sending back your Outlaw. I like my Envoy but found it a bit scary at first as it was more like a surgical instrument than a razor. Beautifully machined razor though. The only thing you do have to be careful of is checking the head tightness in between passes I did it and the head spun in my fingers as the head has rounded edges. Luckily I didn't get cut but it gave me a scare!! 😂😂. The Karve stainless and Blackbird are also great razors! Take care mate!!, Dave.

@@davesheppard8797 Hi Dave I haven't noticed any issues with my Envoy and absolutely love it. With GSB, Nacet, Platinum (light blue pack)etc I get an incredibly close comfortable and smooth shave. I find it on the mild side. Sorry I didn't reply sooner. Les.

@@lesliefitzer2846 No problem Les. Yes, it's a habit I've got into I suppose. In between passes I give the head a tweak to make sure it's still tight. I just do it with a towel now!! The Envoy is an amazing razor though and the machining is fantastic!!! Dave.

I have the mild Outlaw and it still shreds my face. I can't use it anymore. Interesting to see Geo get a little nick with the Outlaw as well. I've been waiting to pull the trigger on the Rex Ambassador purchase and this video is exactly what I needed to make that happen. Another order on the way! Got to try the new TOBS shave cream too. I've used TOBS shave cream after first discovering it when I visited the TOBS shop on Jermyn Street in London many years ago.

Hi Paul, How is the blade alignment on your Outlaw mild? On both my Outlaws I have blade alignment issues. I have to adjust the blade in both before shaving or I get cut up too. I have tried various blades and it's the same with all of them. Once I get good alignment though the Outlaws are great razors. It does bug me a bit though having to do this faffing around as I have no issues with all my other high end razors. Dave.

@@davesheppard8797 Thanks for the advice, Dave. I haven't messed any more with the Outlaw and I did purchase the Rex Ambassador. After three weeks of shaving the Rex Ambassador began to rust! I sent pictures to Geo and he sent them on to the manufacturer. Bottom line is, no one did anything. Other than saying he wanted me to be happy, Geo did nothing to support me as his customer, and Rex tried to blame me for the rust problem. Needless to say, I no longer do business with either company. Today I'm shaving with a 1960 Gilette Fatboy adjustable that has been fully restored and shaves like a dream. No other razor I've tried even comes close to the Fatboy. Razor Emporium and a couple of providers on Etsy restore these razors to better than new condition at half the price of the Rex Ambassador. I won't be wasting my time and money on these new high-end razors again.
@davesheppard8797
@davesheppard8797 Год назад
@@paulstockford532 I'm really sorry to hear this Paul!! I'm a bit surprised as well. I believe it is possible for stainless to rust but none of my many stainless razors have ever rusted. If you had been my customer (I have nothing to do with razors for a living) I would have replaced the razor with no questions asked and then got on to Rex about the situation and if necessary I would have made a video of the issues as many people watch Geo's channel. I had issues with my Feather AS-D2 that I got from Executive shaving here in the UK and Brian replaced it and then went on to deal with the guys at Feather. Giving me great customer satisfaction. I'm sure replacing your razor would have "made you happy". So maybe the Ambassador has some non-stainless parts. It's very poor though for a razor of that price. I'm glad you have a good razor now though! Best wishes, Dave.
@paulstockford532
@paulstockford532 Год назад
@@davesheppard8797 I started wet shaving in 2000, well before it became as popular as it is today, and even the most inexpensive razors, like the ones I started with, did not rust under any circumstances. I agree that Geo should have done something to keep me happy, especially given the amount of money I have spent at Shave Nation over the years. I was self-employed, running my own business, for 23 years. If any of my customers would have come to me unhappy about something directly linked to my business, I would have done anything to ensure that I kept their trust, and they remained my customer. With all the alternative sources for shaving supplies on the internet now, all competing for our business, I would have expected a better customer service experience from Shave Nation. I was very disappointed that was not the case, but I'm glad to hear that you had a positive experience with Executive Shaving. That's how a good customer should be treated!
@davesheppard8797
@davesheppard8797 Год назад
@@paulstockford532 I totally agree Paul. It takes a long time to build a business and get loyal customers but a short time to go down the pan if a couple of bad reviews get around. It doesn't pay me to purchase from the US as I'm English but I have been very lucky to have some good outlets here. From Executive shaving in Scotland I nearly always get a free gift in with my order. Sometimes it's a couple of packs of blades and recently I got a beautiful tin containing Whiskey soap. Dave from "Shaving time" here in England used to message me to ask how I was getting on with whatever I had bought and was always very knowledgeable about his products. I'd ring him up at 9.00 at night sometimes to ask him questions and he was always friendly and helpful. Anyway Paul, I shall stop waffling on now. Happy shaving Sir and if you ever want a superb Stainless razor, the Karve Christopher Bradley is a stunner and you can get it in a set with B, C & D plates. Best wishes, Dave.

I was thinking about getting an adjustable for a long time but never did pull the trigger on any of them. Am a bit torn between an adjustable and a slant; i have a heavy beard growth, sensitive skin and only shave every three to four days, so i need a razor that'll get the job done quickly and possibly give me a BBS while i am at it! My shortlist includes the Fine Slant, the Ikon Slant B1, and the Rex Ambassador - which one would you recommend Geo? Thanks and keep up the excellent work ;-)

Jens, I would like to add that I also have the Outlaw “mild” version, but for me, it is anything but “mild” and is more aggressive than my Muhle 89, Merkur 34C, and EJ 89. As Geo has mentioned many times, YMMV….. Perhaps blade angle and blade exposure takes priority over blade gap in this razors profile?

Ok…follow up report. I bought the Ambassador. It is anything but garbage. Amazing build quality seldom found anymore, lifetime warranty, and you can tailor your shave to whatever you want it to be. From mild to extremely aggressive. Saying that an Ambassador is pure garbage defies all credibility.

This is not an ad, it's my opinion with a few facts...Ambassador: Lifetime warranty, adjustable on the fly, don't have to ask where it is made (right there on the site as you browse...USA and by Rex/Razor Emporium), materials of manufacture (again, don't have to inquire, right there on the site...stainless steel), a bit pricey as expected for what the razor is (~$250+). Alpha: Modular (have to purchase the extra head), available with the standard head, mild head or both (~$170), is up there in price...not quite where the Ambassador is, but pricier than most Muhle, Merkur, Edwin Jagger, etc. I have used the Ambassador and can understand why you need not have to buy another razor. Looking into the Alpha, but have to wait on replies as to where it's made, what it is made of, and what the warranty is. Love to try it, but since I have to pay out of pocket for any razor...will wait for any response (and judge response time/support from Alpha Works). Rex/Razor Emporium is very quick on the response time...but didn't have to inquire about warranty, materials and support. To be fair, I will update once I hear from Alpha Works if anyone even cares. Lol. Geo, as always...you're a gem and a good thing we in the shaving community have you with us!! Btw, I don't think I have ever seen you with a nick that drew blood 😀

@@lesliefitzer2846 Hi Les!! I remember Brian saying that the Outlaw heads were machined in small batches in Scotland. Hence the pride in the Outlaw. Again, I could be wrong!! 😂😂. I know it's high grade Stainless though and I'm pretty sure it's 316 marine grade. I didn't buy the Ambassador as I'm not keen on adjustable razors but I did buy the Envoy. I bought a Stainless Karve with 3 plates and a Blackland Blackbird. I stopped there to enjoy what I already have. Trying out all the different soaps, blades and brushes. 28 razors in all and that is more than enough for me. The razor I find to be great with any blade in it is the Rockwell 6S. The Blackbird is supposed to feel like a cutthroat and according to cutthroat users it does!! Glad you are liking your Ambassador mate! Take care, Dave.

@@davesheppard8797 Hi Dave when I bought mine I ask and the person I spoke to at Executive Shaving told me Hong Kong. Yesterday I read Executive paid to or the development of the razor but they couldn't find a machine shop in Europe who could make it to the standard and price they wanted to pay.Steve at Alpha said if they sent him the drawings he would speak to the machine shop he used and the rest is history as they say. In return Steve got to sell the razor under the Alpha logo. I have been searching to see if I could find it but no luck. I feel sure it was a post put out by Executive to put the record straight. If I come across it I will let you know if Hope you are keeping well. Best wishe Keep well and keep safe. PS I swapped mine for the Envoy as the alignment was out and I am delighted with it.
@SteelcityinNY
@SteelcityinNY 2 года назад
Update #1: Alpha warranty is 12 months versus lifetime with Ambassador. Side note...for an expensive razor, lifetime versus 12 month is a huge push for Rex. Sidenote #2...where does the Alpha get sent if issues? We know the Rex stays here in the U.S. This info came right from Alpha. Keeping mind, absolutely no disrespect to the Alpha razors. But we are comparing two specific razors over $150 each.
