My Rex Ambassador takes a beard down so easily, it's incredible. I love using my Rex for quick one pass shaves, quick and efficient. Also, starting on a low setting and progressing to high settings doesn't make sense at all. I start on 6 with my rex then go down to a two for touchups if needed.

Great shave and informative I agree as to the setting eg Aggressiveness reducing each time I love the lighting you have used in this video every aspect of it more like I was actually watching a show at a live theatre

Great shave! I think the tip for starting on the mildest setting is more when you try a new razor for the first time and you don’t know how aggressive it will be. I would normally also start high, then go lower but on the pickups I like to turn it higher else I have to go over the same spot too many times.

Have a great shave, have a great 4th of July, Geo! On 4 July 8 years ago I was working alongside US forces in Afghanistan, so I always think of them at this time - our staunchest allies and closest friends. Today I have a work colleague who's a US Army veteran, so we helped her celebrate by taking her for a proper English afternoon tea.

AFAIK, Viking, Personna Blue, Personna lab prep are the only three de blades mfg in the USA at this time. There are many domestic artisan soap makers in the USA. Please consider PAA, Stirling, or some other domestic soap maker for next July 4th. Thanks for the video. It was fun.

I'm with you Geo. Most blade exposure for the first pass (or passes), and then dialing it down as the beard is cut. Can't see why any one would this the opposite way around. All the best to you and your dearest Geo for 4th of July.

I have heard both suggestions also. To me it would make more sense using more blade exposure the first pass and dialing it down in subsequent passes. Why would you want it at most aggressive setting on the third pass when stubbles have been virtually eliminated?

Manny Valdez To get closer to the skin and take care of that short stubble, which you may not even reach on a low setting. That's the thought, it's not what I do, because at the same time you will be scraping off more skin cells than necessary, giving you razor burn. Going from high to low setting is simply trying to get rhe best of both worlds, cutting hairs without too much scraping of skin.

People get all wrapped up in what is or isn't disrespectful. At the end of the day, what's important is..where does the heart lie? What's the intent? Geo great video. Hope you enjoyed the holiday. I did the same shave, used a vintage fatboy D4. Used the American Blend as well.

For most budgets I would recommend the Rockwell 6c. It’s not truly an “adjustable” but it has interchangeable base plates that change the blade gap. Razor irritation is based on many factors. But the goal should be to get as close a shave as possible in as few passes as possible without nicks or cuts. Good luck on your shaving journey.

It makes no sense to start at the lowest setting for dense hair removal. I also start at the highest setting and dial it down for additional passes. It just makes sense to me.

At the 6 setting with very little pressure it felt fine. Everyone is different though, you gotta do what's best for you. If 3 works then stick with that. No reason to irritate your skin.

Hi there, I got recently a safety razor adjustable from 1 to 6 too. This recommendation to use level 6 first for the first pass and then level 3 and last level 1 is only for this model or it is a general recommendation for all safety razor adjustable brands? Thanks for your reply and greetings.

Nice Shave Geo, and although its a bit late but Happy 4th July to you , family and friends. If you get a chance to try in future, Gillette has launched a new blade called "Winner" here in India, I used it in my shaves and have got 5 good shaves till now. May be some day you would like them to be available on shavenation.com. Exactly! Very cool! I used the technique you showed us on the ATG pass. Excellent results. And you could easily shave with a broken bottle and make it look easy man! Damn!
