I have the Alpharex Luxx headlights on my 4Runner for almost two years now and I do not recommend them (waste of money). They really look cool, but they are safety hazard in my opinion. I am about to switch back to stock headlights with halogen light bulbs for safety reasons. Over time they are getting dimmer and during rainy conditions they don't light up the the road properly. I am unable to see the road in front of me in rain. My factory fog lights are brighter than them and shine farther. This is a big problem if you drive on dark and winding roads during rain. Also, my eyes go blind momentarily when upcoming traffic approaches due to the fact that my headlights are dim. The same effect was noted by my passengers recently. In my option the Pro models are a better option as you have the capability to replace light bulbs.
Thanks for sharing. Going to have to look into more long-term reviews before deciding. Have you contacted them about addressing this issue under warranty? Is it the LEDs themselves or has the housing gotten hazy?
@@nelsoncarpentry I still haven’t contacted alpharex yet. The housing is fine and as clear as the first day. The issue is the light output. It seems the LEDs are losing their output density overtime. They are simply not bright. I have had the same setup and my fog lights are now much brighter. In the beginning there wasn’t such apparent difference.
@@nimam81 That’s disappointing. It’s between these, the Morimoto’s, and factory LED upgrade for me. I wanted these more, but not if they don’t hold up. It’s a lot of cash to drop. Appreciate the response.
Finally the reply I needed,Running Arc monsters now, almost wanted luxx but like the option of the pros being able to run whatever and if something goes out your not stuck with buying a complete new assembly!
I am finding wherever I can to report how terrible Alpha rex products are and their customer service. I had a set purchased for a toyota. Impossible to level them from the install and they did not want to help. Always the customers fault. I then had an issue that everyone kept flashing me and I later discovered the lights were constantly changing brightness on their own. shortly after that, the filled up with so much condensation that it looked like someone poured water into them. The units are not even a year old. I have been trying to work with Alpha Rex for months now and they keep telling me they are looking into it if I can ever get them to respond. Makes it impossible to drive your vehicle when the lights don’t work and there is no concern from the company to address. Absolutely horrible customer service.
Their customer service is terrible over the phone and in person. I saw their "brand reps" at an event and asked them about any solutions for the halogen bulbs on the pro series because they are so dim and they told me I should have just bought the more expensive ones. @@johng241
I was going to buy these for my 4R, but the LED high/DRL kit you sold me looks better in my opinion. That cheap looking upper DRL just kills these for me.
At 3:50 you mention a different video on which bulbs fit and the light output for the Pro’s, link? It would be great to show the light output ( lumens ) of each of these headlights.
I don’t like the fact that you can’t replace bulbs in these expensive headlights. Maintenance free just means you have to replace them for more $$$ when the output goes down or bulbs break. Seems better to get pros for the better DRL’s & sequential signal, but can change bulbs.
Would a set of Pros with GTR Ultra 2s not be brighter than the Luxx or Nova? Based on the previous videos, with the comparisons to OEM, the percentage increases with the GTRs would be substantially brighter.
DO NOT BUY !!!!!alpharex nova for the Ram there warranty is terrible got my lights in Jan 2021 had problems with the DL they gave me a hardest ones after that no more #Warranty they wouldn’t help me out anymore. A year later the low beams went out. I purchased another harness and the capacitor. It doesn’t fix the low beam. They told me the board is bad I’d have to purchase a single light for $800 Guess what they don’t have the single light now I have to either buy a whole new set. Why would I do that when morimoto has a five-year warranty no-brainer
@@codealtf4logn779 yes for the pro's but not the other 2 as theyre built into housing so if they bulb dies you got to send back your headlight set and get a new set of headlights
@@sn95chuy89 LEDs don’t usually burn out though. if they manage to stop working, it’s likely to be because of an electrical issue, not a LED specific issue
Super helpful. I was not understanding the difference between the models and almost made a bad choice for what I wanted. Your video saved me. I'm super grateful!
For anyone wondering, yes you can put led bulbs on the pros. In my opinion that’s the best option because alpha Rex customer service is ass. Spoiler alert if you go this route your headlights will be brighter than the more expensive options
We suggest the Morimoto 2stroke LEDs for the Alpharex PRO Headlights. And yes - it will be brighter than halogen but not brighter than the NOVA or XB LED Headlights.
I bought into LEDs early on, for my Christmas lights, and for my home. They've all failed, a large number of them. Nowhere near the labeled 50K hour numbers you often find. Has anyone had success with these lights over a long period of time?
For F150 15-17 Pro Series you get the start up sequence and the switchback. Yes they come with H7 bulbs which you can chane to LEDs which is legal as long as your bulbs aren't ridiculously bright and are adjusted correctly. So for the little 4 runner they might be like this, but not for 15-17 F150s.
Sadly switching your H7 bulb out for an LED bulb in this housing is not Legal for road use, the LED bulb is not DOT-compliant for street use whereas the stock halogen bulb they come with is DOT-compliant!
@@HeadlightRevolution that’s not correct. So long as your LED lights are 1:1 (light source is same size as halogen bulb) the beam pattern will be the same as the halogen. It would be next to impossible for a LEO to prove your DOT approved housings and led bulbs are not DOT approved.
@@CaseAgainstFaith1 that’s not how it works. The govt has to prove that something is illegal. And that’s not just based on a LEOs opinion. Most states have state referees that it’s their job to investigate and prove something is illegal.
Would there be any chance they will make one for the Lexus RX, there lot of base model lexus that don't get the tripple beam headlight, and there not much after-market support on them. Thanks!
I just put the nova on my 22 charger Crazy upgrade performance. The light output is phenomenal.Hopefully they last longer than what other people have said
Il still gonna most likely buy the pros for my ram, $500 for the lights and $60 for the upgraded bulbs. Vs 900 for the second set that does the same is wack, and as far as nova lol if im spending that much i much rather morimotos. So much cleaner looking.
The NOVA headlights are a full LED headlight, there are no replacement bulbs. You would need to replace the entire headlight if it stops working. Alpharex does have a 2 year warranty.
If i have factory leds with drls do i still have to run a wire for the drls on these or is it totally plug n play like for like i dont want to do a fuse tap inder the hood
Is the LED LUXX model a direct plug & play replacement? My existing F150 truck has yellow halogens, will the swap to full LED require modifications? Thanks! Great, informative video
@@nelsonmelendez-lopez7808 no they didn’t get back to me. However I can tell you now that pretty much any LED is better than stock halogen. I use the cougar led in my RAM and holy crap what a difference!! Fog lights too!
Looks like AlphaRex doesn't offer anything for that year Mustang, Morimoto does though! www.headlightrevolution.com/ford-mustang-bi-led-headlights-B-LF410_2
Wow that was the fastest creator-response I ever gotten, maybe even seen. Someone sure is doing a good job reading the comments or reacting to comment notifications!
