A. Mucha, a painter, sculptor, designer and illustrator, champion of Slav culture is linked with an image of "fin de siècle" Paris. His posters exemplify the spirit of "Art Nouveau". In 1898 was initiated into the Grand Orient de France in Paris, a Masonic organization. In 1923 was elected Sovereign Grand Commander of the Chech Supreme Council of Freemasons.
Worked for a long time for the Renaissance Theatre and a famous actress Sarah Bernhardt creating original posters for her performances.
