Great video! I wish manufacturer's did videos like this, but they never want to make their product look inferior, even against their own stuff. Please make more videos like.
I've had 2 pairs of alpinestar tech 8s, the first pair I bought in 1998, they are still going and in good shape, 2 nd pair I got in 2007 and they are still like new ( sold them when our track closed and in depression I sold everything and bought a stupid HARLEY) So last summer I bought a new pair of FOX comp 5 enduro mx boots, total JUNK.... fell apart in 4 rides. So I'm back in my tech 8s from 1998 .
I have that era tech 8 also, when they were still made in Italy. Also a pair from early 2000s, manufactured in Croatia. Still a good boot, my "daily set", but just a notch below the Italian made pair. I think a stars are now made in Thailand. Stick with your '98 model
Just new to the moto game from forty years (that is not a misprint) of hardcore MTB trail and travel. I really appreciate the candor and honesty of VitalMX reviews. I can tell, y'all use the stuff and beat the livin snot out of things every day, and I'm a Boomer who listens LOL OMFG bikes are SOOOOOO freakin much better when I was young! Safety, too! Great time to get back in it. Thanks for all the content, and thank you for confirming my fear of wackin my Achilles and not having enough pro on the back of the boot. Upped my boots level because of it. It's not a silly fear anymore.
VERY, VERY Helpful! Thank you. I've been thinking about the Tech 10's for my next set, but with your review, I see the 7's will probably do me just fine. I've been wearing Tech 8's for about 15 years, and was totally bummed that Alpinestars shutdown that product line. I need buckle straps! I may send in my Tech 8s to Alpinestars for their repair service. I'm on the fence between new boots and repair of my current pair. Alpinestars has a fantastic repair service, very fairly priced.
“If you don’t need all the protection”... so wtf is the point of a boot then? Buy the best you can afford. When you do fall hard you’ll know why you did.
Nonsense tech 8 is the most winning motocross boot of all time and they still make them in regular and Light versions, best Mx boots ever made I’ll get another set when my 7s are toast.
@jimh2061 - I can only speak to my 2006 Alpinestar Tech8 MX Boots. I switched over from a GasGas EC300 2 Stroke Dirtbike to a Yamaha Grizzly 660 ATV in 2008. During a rocky trail section, my left foot got pinned between my ATV rear tire and a rock. The ATV was leaning towards my foot, not only was it jammed, but a 500lb ATV was resting on it. My buddies where able to help me get unstuck and my Left foot / leg / ankle where 100% OK! I am in need of new boots, and I am going to get the Tech 7 Enduro Drystars - 17 years better technology! Get the Tech 7's and you'll be just fine. On a side note, my ATV riding buddies all went out the next day and bought MX riding boots, 1 buddy bought the Tech 8's specifically.
Love my tech 3’s but I just had a strap rip off after only about 6 rides. Just in the process of claiming warranty however I’m not confident they will come to the party. I hope so as I was literally telling all my mates how happy I was with them.
got tech 7 and 5. For the 5 first ride the paint started to peel off from the tow area. From my tech 7 after 5 rides my soles glue us coming undone. Not really happy about spending soo much money have this crappy build quality....
They are all junk. Try the sidi boots. More protection, they flex without sacking out and most parts are replaceable. Alpinestar sponsors 90% of guys on bikes, that’s the only reason to wear them.
Do you have the current tech 7's or the older model? I had the older model and they got wet so easily but my buddy says the new ones don't get wet as easily
@@dawn-moon the current version came out about 5 years. From researching just now it seems the current version is alot more durable, if yours are getting water try spraying with a water repellent or using boot wax, concentrate on the stitching and leather area
