My dad put this song among others on a mix tape in 1983. He died unexpectedly in 1984. I discovered this in 1986 when I was 5 and i've loved it ever since. Still have that red and white Realistic Low Noise 90 tape!
Bet your dad tape on Sunday evening when the charts came out every week, he would have to switch off the tape recorder when the Dj started to talk. Great times, great song. Hope you have happy memories off your dad. X👍
This is what the 80s is all about easy listening music oh how we miss this era I was privileged to be part of this decade of great music as a teenager ❤
Saw her perform in Southampton last night. She recently turned 60 but she looked & sang brilliantly. It only took me 40yrs to finally see her, but well worth the wait.
Well done Craig. She has as much enthusiasm and talent now as she did in the early 80’s. See my comment re seeing the group in 2019. They were all still brilliant 🤩
Hi Clare Grogan, if youre reading this. I was there in the 80's dancing to your songs with my mates down our local club. Youre beautiful and still are. Hope things are good.
These 80s bands Reminds me so much of my night's in clubs when I was young I'm nearly 60 now This still sends shivers down my spine They blow today's so called music right out of the water
that instrumental break 2:46 would not be out of place today...except it would blow away all these autotune can't-release-a-song-without-a-guest=singer nobodies of 2022
My favourite song from Altered Images . The lovely Clare Grogans great voice backed up by a wall of sound from the 3 magnificent guitarists and drums !
Altered Images played at Lancaster in 1982 and of all the gigs I went to that year theirs is the one I still remember. The band was on top form, and played a blinder, but Clare made the whole thing special. That voice, that face, that figure - she was totally wonderful. I wish there was a video record of that night.
It was May 11th 1982 - it's on this tour programme/poster that someone posted on Twitter - photos of band members and handwritten messages from Clare and the others. There are some photos in that thread including two good close-ups of Clare on stage. twitter.com/Birmingham_81/status/726348491472146432/photo/3
She had that 'edge', and she still does. Something special, she knows what it is, the rest of us have spent 30+ years yearning! It started for me with 'Gregory's Girl', she stole the whole show X.
Who's remembering their very first time while listening to this? This is one of those rare tunes that evokes memories of one's very first love that was never to be and you swore you would never get over THAT special person. Its April 2023 and it's still a perfect tune in every sense.
One of the best 80s acts out there. Claire Grogan was brilliant and a great front for the band. Everything they did was memorable and wee Claire was a half decent actress too!
i miss these sounds from 80s bands.....they are so much more meaningful then anything now....i get chills when i hear certian 80s songs....altered images was good....
My God, I never heard this song in the 1980s when I was young. I am hearing it for the first time in 2019! How the heck did I manage to miss this gem??
I must be getting old....but back then true "beauty's" were just naturally beautiful. And, notice how the (Male) band play second fiddle. Like everyone else I hope there is room for me in the time machine!
I totally agree it's a brilliant catchy tune, and Claires vocals compliment it well. Perfect 80's classic. One of her co stars from Gregory's Girl works as a teacher now
Absolutely agree, I love the 80s and 90s (was born in 68) still fancy clare grogan now. I doubt if in 30 years people will remember Harry "horseshit " styles and his watermelon whatever.
Damn, you're so right. Right around the turn of the decade, new music stopped. Maybe it was the internet that killed it. Listen to young pop stars like Charli XCX - they are literally just parodies of what came before. They make what I call ringtone music: could be created by a computer.
Clare wrote this song along with her husband to be in the group. It is a very special song and it means a lot to her. I watched her perform this live at Croxteth County Park in Liverpool summer 2019 and the whole group were just as good as they were back in the 80’s. A sheer delight 😀👍👌
@@MsFruittwist I am not 💯sure but assume it is a personal reflection on her own experience or someone she knew. ‘Don’t talk to me about love’ would suggest a disappointing experience.
The lovely Clare Grogan.......when she was on Ken Bruce show a few years ago, sent in a txt, got a great reply on the show.... you cannot better that......!!!!!
What a great track with a lovely baseline. Superb! A golden era of music. Individual original and beautiful. Sadly Never to be repeated because we are being pushed into slots that are all the same!
Oh yes, the vinyl ALWAYS had to be a picture sleeve haha, and sometimes we were lucky to be able to buy a picture DISC. I'm glad that my comment was appreciate haha, keep on rocking guys n gals@sMansGuitars
Without a doubt my favourite Altered Images track. superb, God i'm going through an 80s phase lately, The soundtrack to mine and millions of others youths. Bless the UK'S 80s bandS and artists. GET INN !!!!!
OMG I miss these days so much guy's,, just listening to this music brings it all back growing up in safe hands in safe times safe streets you could really enjoy yourself and not worry about anything guy's...
Man, I have been listening to this style of retro music for a long long time and never have I come across a singer with such a warm soothing and heavenly voice. It is orgasmic!! Just can't stop listening to it.
I woke up this morning and this song was in my head, looked it up on RU-vid, and started dancing in my room, memories of my youth came flooding back. Great song, great band, ❤ the 80's.😊
For the longest time, this had been blocked in the U.S. of A, and geo-restriction is a concept I've always thought was stupid. So you can imagine my excitement that they've loosened up and I finally get to see this after all these years. And I've gotta tell you: the song, Clare Grogan rocking the cardigan, the camera, the flowers, and so on made it all worth the wait.
I was introduced to Altered Images in college via a friend's mix tape, though I could have heard them in real time if I had been more clued in. But it wasn't until last year that I discovered this song. What a perfect distillation of everything we love about the ALT 80s. This has become maybe my all time favorite song. The vocals, the lyrics, the band's instrumentation. Perfection.
