The cool positive this world might have been (Even though I hate the eradication of Korean culture) would be that Japan would have almost certainly built tunnels or bridges with Korea and Sakhalin and the rest of Asia. They would have been a technological superpower.

It is an interesting alternative history, although I am surprised that Japan does not take more advantage of the situation, annexing more Siberian territory (at least all the territory east of the Yenisey River), plus all of Mongolia and perhaps Xinjiang and Tibet, since all those territories are sparsely inhabited, so it would be easy to achieve a Japanese demographic majority. Furthermore, this would result in almost completely surrounding the territory of China, gradually facilitating its annexation until all the Chinese provinces were integrated into the imperial Japanese state. It could be argued that Hirohito proclaims that "the Mandate of Heaven" (the divine right to rule China) rests solely with himself, in order to "justify" the complete annexation of China.
