Amazing build; I thought this was an OEM PowerBlock stand at the beginning of the video with how nice it looked. Glad my local Harbor Freight still has this stand in stock. About to start this build for my PowerBlocks
Sweet. Thank you so much for posting this Clifford. Finally go my PBs on order after waiting for 6 months. Will have the stand built by the time they get delivered thanks to your genius and generosity.
It looks like it was a fun project. You did quite a good job on it. With the Powerblock stickers on it it looks like it came straight from the factory. Actually when I first clicked on the video I thought it was just a different version of Powerblock stand that I had never seen before. Thanks for making the video it was interesting to watch.
Wow Mr. Cooper great build. I am going to follow your lead instead of my initial thoughts which involved learning how to create sloping crossing table legs; which after watching a couple RU-vidr video on; decided with my tinkering abilities, that it would involve to many do overs. So I then grand idea occurred to me that probably many others thought to make their own DIY stand and looked for Power Block DIY’s on RU-vid which lead me to come across Mr. Kinney’s stand and that was more within my abilities. Yours although farther down the list is even better and much easier to accomplish. With your well done video and directions I will have a sweet Power Block stand similar to yours shortly. Thanks for sharing.
thanks for this awesome DIY! the official stand costs $130 plus tax, so spending even just half that price is worth the work put in. Thank you for sharing this helpful video!
You are welcome. Thanks for your comment. I will be doing an update on this video in a few days. I removed the grip paper an added rubber treads to the stand thanks to another RU-vid comment. Keep an eye out for it.
Wow that is awesome! I've seen the wood one but like this one better.I've also seen people use these work tables for dumbbells stands but never modified like you did. Truley awesome job, looks like it came straight from powerblock.
Thanks for your comet. If you plan on making one. Check out my upgraded video where I modified the stand by adding rubber treads instead of the sand paper.
This is badass, building 2 next weekend. Nice design! I am thinking about wheels or casters, maybe just a harbor freight furniture dolly and mount it. Well done!
Nice video. Fantastic job. However I think HarborFreight is discontinuing this worktable. It's on sale right now (August 2020) and very few stores have it. One of the workers told me they're replacing it with a new model? We'll see.. Again you did a good job. Great video.
WOW! For a second there I was gonna go to the Powerblock website to look for the stand. Excellent work. Thanks for the Idea. I can save somewhere around $100. You're the man, Clifford. I imaging you called Powerblock for the decals?
Great stand! PowerBlock also sells just the official top, with adder weight holes, angles, and the black non-skid paper, for $37 plus $11 shipping. It's made to sit on the floor and can be seen on their official Stands video on youtube, and it can be seen on their official PDF brochure through their website. Might save some of us two-thumbs builders from having to build the top, angle iron, etc. We can just plop than on the HF base, screw it in, and boom, still only about $80 overall. Thanks for a great video, Clifford. You have the skills to build the whole thing. Love the printed label idea!
Oh, I wanted to share that with Urethane sets (not yours, Clifford), the front lip of the slanted rack even from factory can cut the urethane. Ouch! So, be careful as lifetime warranty does not cover the urethane. I use two flat weight lifting bench, about $40 new each, to store mine--when working out I can separate them and walk between them to lift the weights, one in each hand. Great for heavy --#100+-- weights. Works great, perfect height, padded, no lip. :-) Many workshop table options too, when cut down to proper height. And Ab Benches (short sit-up benches) can be bought at two for $80 and can move to walk between to pick up weights. Other options for those less handy than Clifford.
NIce stand! How hard would it be to put some lockable casters on it? I live in an apartment and it'd be nice to just roll the powerblock stand out of the coat closet, hit the locks with your foot and your set to workout. Then roll it back away when you're done.
At 5:45 where yo state that you do not want to tighten to much to not bend the frame, you can put washers between the frame and the angled piece and give it support to be able to tighten a little.
Ok so I made my stand and it has been working great. I never added wheels to it because I dont move it around that much... but after years of use I wanted to add a modification and see if you had any ideas. Since the current stand is so sturdy with a 1000lb capacity, i wanted to add bars to make a dip station/weight stand combo. Any suggestions?
Thanks for the idea, I did something very similar. I built the stand with all the original pieces and set it to lean forward just like you did. I painted the press board black, then I covered the top with rubber safety tread strips from harbor freight. In place of the angle iron I just screwed an 18 inch magnet strip (from harbor freight) towards the bottom of the stand. I don't have adder weights so no center piece. The magnet & safety strips work pretty well at holding the weights in place and everything was less than $50 since I had a 20% off coupon for the stand. Thanks again Clifford! Here are my item numbers: Self-Adhesive Rubber Safety Step Tread Western Safety - Item#98856 18 in. Magnetic Tool Holder U.S. General - Item#60433 Adjustable Height Heavy Duty Workstation U.S. General - Item#46725
You're welcome, I'm glade to see you used the rubber safety treads. I didn't see them until after I finished my stand. If the skateboard paper doesn't hold up I will be changing to the treads. I'm glade I could help and thank you for your comment.
@@wallykings2543 Sorry for the late response, but the magnet has front screws, I just screwed it into the top of the workstation after covering it with the step tread.
