I probably never express this often enough in the fandom but Equius is one of the best characters in homestuck. He's actually a total sweetheart to those he cares about and he is always there to help his friends (especially his dear moirail Nepeta)
And can we talk about his STRONGNESS, people tend to underplay it because he did not do much fighting (well in site of the narrative that is) But can we all remember that even Karkat, the loud, pessimistic ball of hate recognized that Equius was "the strong one....that's still your thing right?" And that of all the people including vriska, the only one to reach god tier he asked equius to try fighting Gamzee, and had he not turned it into some Brazzers episode during their encounter he may have done it for all we know.
DangerSmoog Yeah! And it really bugs me when people just use him as a sweat joke or horse porn (granted that is pretty weird) but he is in fact a very valuable character. But everyone just likes to keep making fun of him for sweating a lot, or his horse porn collection. Yeah yeah it's weird we get it, but can the fandom just actually pay attention to his personality? Heck man he took orders from Karkat! The lowest of the low! And he *knew* he'd be going against EVERYTHING he's ever believed in about the highbloods but he. Still. Did. It. Kai Kirkland He built robotic body parts for his fellow trolls and pretty much just wants to protect everybody around him. Just past his creepier tendencies is a totally fantastic dude.
No offense to his fans, I just want to ask what you think, but IMO he's a terrible character. He built a robot for Aradia to live, yes. But he programmed it to love him, and even then, changed her blood color so he'd be less ashamed of being with someone he forced into a relationship. Not to mention the fact he wouldn't attack Gamzee, knowing full well he was murderous at the time simply because Gamzee was a highblood, he even went so far as to bow to him. I don't hate him because of the horse porn and sweat. I genuinely don't like his character.
First time I heard this song I just laughed at all the horse noises then later started giggling like mad at Nepeta's. I love them. Then the HoNkS later......
In Homestuck some of the names of songs are so nice sounding such as At the Price of Oblivion Savior of the Waking World Clockwork Sorrow But then we have stuff like this.
Now I'm wondering what would've happened if Nepeta had been killed by Gamzee first. He died because he didn't want to fight back because of the hemospectrum stuff. Blood color was more important than his life. But, would he have fought Gamzee if he had killed Nepeta first?

I fucking love Equius, he seems so underestimated by a large amount of the fanbase. To be honest, he's just so amazing in my eyes, I love him and he fits to be my patron troll c:
Am I the only one who imagines Nepeta Equius and Kanaya climbing a mountain together? Like, they all pick a nice sunny day, pack some food and some ropes and go out climbing, almost minecraft style. They celebrate when they reach the top, and they can see the beautiful view of Alternia in the glorious spring sunshine
HappyCatGraystripe I blame the harp for that one! I always associate harps with grace and elegance, and who else would meet those criteria? I figure that she'd cheat and butterfly up the mountain, whereas Equius would actually climb, and Nepeta would leap up the rock face like a nimble little monkey! They're just my thoughts on it

+Svart Hert Well, its been a while since i last looked over my notes, but basically he modeled himself in such a way to "reedeem" his bloodline from Darkleer's mistake when he released the Disciple. Almost every move he made was because of his extreme dedication to the caste system, and eventually lead to his death. As the 2nd darkest caste on the land (Equius was noted to having hated seadwellers) he believe he was supposed to act in a certain way. He forbid himself from cursing and partaking in "lowblooded behavior" such as roleplaying and calling certain pieces of furniture by their simpler names. (He made Aradia refer to the ablution trap as a "bathtub", and her reaction to the statement implied it was similar of being asked to call a toilet a potty). Any irregularity to his highblood=educated/elegant and lowbood=crass confuses him (His conversation with gamzee proves this). His obsessive infatuation with Aradia confused him, but he did believe that he was entitled to her because she was maroon blooded, which lead him to implant the chip in her robotic heart. In addition to this, Equius had a rare genetic mutation that granted him extreme strength (contrary to popular belief, this was not a normal blueblood asset, it was a freak of nature). Equius was aware that he was a freak, and attempted to find something, anything to latch onto to help him feel like he wasn't that weird. He chose musclebeasts, as they shared a extreme strength with him. Equius became proud of his strength, and refused to admit to himself that he was mutated that way. Instead, he told himself that he was so strong because of all the milk he drank, despite knowing otherwise. (He is noted thinking this before shattering his glass of milk). Because of his general assholery when it came to the caste system and his genetic mutation which prevented him from engaging in physical touch, Equius had little to no close friends outside of Nepeta. Contrary to popular belief, their relationship was borderline abusive pre-meteor. He felt that because she was a lowblood, he had to/could decide things for her/tell her to do things. Nepeta was noted as to having said she was afraid of him. Possibly due to his lack of companionship for the majority of his life, he was susceptible to bouts of rage and violence. He made robots and fought them in a attempt to self medicate his anger issues, but never showed any interest in hurting anyone at all. Of course, post-metor equius was much different. He calmed his ass down about the caste system to the point where he still did care about it, but didn't follow it so strictly. His relationship with Nepeta improved signifigantly, and because he now had someone to vent to, his bouts of rage shrunk in consistency. He showed an insane amount of change throughout hivebent. tl;dr: equius was born into a high place in society, stereotyped those around him, dismissed other's opinions if they were ""below"" him. Insane strength with a decent coping system. Asshole. Insanely intelligent, egotistical, and generally uncomfortable to be around. Post Meteor Equius was still very opinionated when it came to the caste system, but had realized that times had changed. Generally mellowed out. Attempted to be gentle and do the correct things to benefit the group. (Of course, his dedication to the caste system was above this, leading to his murder). aaaand thats about it here. Sorry if my thoughts are a little jumpy, just ask if you want me to elaborate on something/ have any more questions
Many thanks ! I have to say i'm just soon after [S] Jade Enter so even if i spoiled myself the demise of Equius i didn't know what was or be Darkleer. I will learn soon or later i guess. I'm kinda dissapointed about the character, he really are stereotypical and even if that is totally explain by many things (except maybe the fact that no one give a shit about the color of blood) i feel that he can be a better character, but maybe i will change my opinion before his ultimate demise (don't tell me if i'm wrong or right :p ). By the way i don't remember Nepeta saying he scare her, but maybe i take that for a somewhat ironical thing or haven't read this for the moment. Ironnicaly enough, my GF is not really "a proud warrior", and ironically enough too, her bestfriend got Nepeta as a Patron Troll (and i got Gamzee (yeah, that's so fucked up)), even if it's useless for your past studies about Equius =p Nonetheless, thank you for your answer (particularly by the time of your previous comment (you must be a time traveller or something like this)), and sorry for my english if it's approximative :)
I love how Equius started out as an especially creepy douchebag, but then ended up being the greatest fucking bro (besides bro himself) in the series. He's probably my favorite troll and this song kicks ass!
at least equius was revived as arquiussprite and then nepeta became davepetasprite^2 and they got to see each other and be bros again to quote a great hero, "this puts a smile on my face"
Confession time. This song made me tear up long before the appearance of Arquius. It's just that Equius is my favorite character, and the way this song just goes from proud and strong to a slow, funeral dirge just... gets to me. Equius's death in general was actually the ONLY part of the whole comic I cried over. This comic makes me feel too many emotions and I don't know if I hate it or love it for that.
When I hear this, I always picture a horde of Mongolian warriors riding horses across a vast breezy pasture. And Mongolian warriors are strong and tough. (By the way, Equius and Undyne would make good partners)

I'm surprised people hate Equius, honestly, I love the guy! He's very interesting, quirky, and his moirail/friendship with Nepeta is one of the greatest comradery examples in any media I've seen! Plus, he has this kickass theme!!
i really like this track for some reason lol. it reminds me of the mario rpg soundtracks and final fantasy sountracks at certain points, which were a big part of my childhood

Actually I really like Equius. He might act creepy, but I think he's a really good guy and he has a really good head (mind). Plus, his morailigence with Nepeta is too cute! :33
The caste system didn't just dictate his life, it WAS his life. He didn't follow it because it was the law, he followed it because he honestly beleived in it...but I feel just as bad that he died the way he did. Gamzee was his only true superior in rank (since he wasn't obliged to take orders from seadwellers), and he hated the system for it. He was stuck between a moral "rock and a hard place".
they really overplayed his creepiness and controllingness at first (esp with nepeta) and then added that last flash game to make you sympathetic literally pages before killing him huh i still love equius and nepeta though
