Had a brilliant day yesterday, lots of rides and re rides and watched them building the construction walls from the coffee lounge. 🎉 I do wish they’d take the decals off the trams, it’s awful when you can’t see out! You’d think they’d want to showcase the rides as you’re travelling in!

What I want to know is why in the UK do we build every theme park ride outdoors? Alton Towers should build an indoor section with world class rides so it can stay open all year round.

I think X sector and where spin ball is needs a refurb! It needs some new flat rides around them. I think best they had was when ugg land had that swing ride and corkscrew, I loved that ride 😂

Alton Towers really need to completely revamp it's transit system. We should get narrow gauge trams running down gloomy wood, a new monorail and the skyride revamped

Would you mind showing the drink offers at the freestyle machine next vlog you do at the park? Been trying to find info online and some people show that it has powerade, whereas I think it was a previous food vlog from last year that showed it didn't have it! Visiting in july and wondering weather to order the refillable, but we don't want to just drink fizzy drinks! Would also love to see your meals at woodcutters if you end up not bringing a lunch one day!

When I visited Alton Towers a few weeks ago, there was a board between Towers Street/Mutiny Bay which gave some info about the Skyride. I thought it was well worth a read and gave a good explanation on its closure/future plans. I also saw a set of 3 Skyride gondolas when walking back to the car park. I thought it was strange leaving them exposed to the elements in an alleyway, but maybe they'll be doing something with those???

Something that puzzles me ( and forgive me i only went alton once and that was in 2022. ) about ripsaw and the site is that when i went in 2022 funk n fly was still there but i couldnt understand how a huss top spin fit into that spot. When shawn goes up to the access gates for the site, i saw a hedge and a rock wall. Were those put in after ripsaw went and was it located behind them? As i re call the inflatable that was there after ripsaw had gone and the sign for ripsaw was still behind it. Can somebody please explain it to me as im just so confused

Was here on Monday when they began construction, and my brain couldn't compute that it was Project Ocean beginning, as we didn't expect work to start until much later this year! On a side note, rode Nemesis on the back row, left edge seat, and it was the roughest ride I've ever had on Nemesis/Nemesis Reborn - certainly not as smooth as the original. Due to the extra speed it's carrying, perhaps?

I think they are getting this new flat ride in and ready for Summer 24. I think there will be an announcement after that about a Galactica retheme to help complete the area, I think it will be either Ripsaw Reborn, Ripsaw's revenge or Something related to Seek the Truth/Phalanx.

I hope they completely refresh scarefest. Every attraction new, New stories,etc

Hi Shawn hope your okay. I was at Alton towers yesterday the 23rd shame I missed you. I saw they were working on the sky ride supports by wicker man and also saw three workers by nemesis do work for the new flat ride. Rode nemesis for the first time since the og. Its a lot smoother and the best thing was got to go on the very back was not through choice but was hoping and got to do it. Well impressed. Not so impressed with the smiler it looks unloved the track looks a bit on the rough side especially in the station also the theming is showing it's age more so than oblivion it need a repaint in my opinion. I think Alton towers need to focus a little more on x sector and even dark forest. I always though dark forest was the best part of the park. Well it was when it was festival park. Hope you enjoyed your trip out in portaventura.

When are you doing a Drayton construction update?

Ive got a feeling that the tunnel and base of the ride are concrete and then the building for the ride would be a galvanised steel shed with sheeting on. So my estimate would be a month before the concrete base is done and about 2 week to fit the shed then its down to huss to fit the ride. In total id give it 4 month's from this point. But depending on how fast they work it could even be a late june early july for a summer opening before peak season.

Can we just take time to Shawn for getting of a flight from Spain and in his one free day till he goes europa park he is at Alton to show us updates!!!!! Well done and love the volgs

My prediction is that Project Ocean is a Scarefest 2024 addition. Just seems to make sense if they're starting already. Edit: Also I can imagine them going for the name Ripsaw's Revenge as it would also be a little nod to Chessington's defunct Top Spin that was Rameses Revenge

i've heard leaks of a 'ripsaw revenge' name so i commented about it on a tower's post as a joke and they replied with "🤔" so i think that's pretty much confirmation

I would be surprised if it opens this year as I doubt the manufacturer has been given the go ahead to start production of the ride. However they could get a refurbished ride, or one that has already been built as a prototype!

I don't think they will but I think it would be nice if they painted the monorail supports over Forbidden Valley to fit the new dark theming.

lil tip: if you havent already, in mutiny bay near the aquarium theres a stand that has fresh donuts oh my god theyre so good 😋

Would make sense to start asap if they are planning on putting in planning permission for other flat rides in other areas of the park. If they could do say 4 new flats in 3 years total in addition to standard maintenance and other project work, I’d say that would be achievable

Very exciting to see them working on the new ride already. I don't mind the construction site in the middle of the area, its always exciting to see a construction site in a park, it's something else to go and look at instead of an empty space. They should give the construction workers some Phalanx branding then they will appear like facility staff digging for specimens!
