There are two issues that I see with this video. One, on the Mogul Course the ground speed of the Deere was higher than the Altoz. Two, the worst case scenario would be to pivot on one wheel. That being said what I would like to see is the same tests run on a Deere fully equipped with Tweels (front & rears) and with a suspension seat as well as a Ventrac with Dual wheels. What I would also like to see is a tractive force test.
As cool as the Altos looks, I don't see/understand why the test seemed rigged. The John Deere was hauling ads and the Altoz seemed to be moving more slowly. Cool looking machine, the Altos, but what is the cost compared to the John Deere? Seriously.
Good video. I love my TRX 561. In my opinion it is a little harder on the turf overall than a wheeled machine. Especially in places where the turf is less dense and healthy. The worst case scenario would be driving the outside wheel/track with the inside wheel/track stationary. Both machines will tear the turf in that scenario but the tear from the trx will be a bit bigger. For me it’s not a problem as I take care to keep both tracks moving and minimize turf damage. That would actually be a good follow up video - techniques for reducing turf damage. It would apply equally to your tracked and wheeled machines.
I love tracks and I want tracks. But what if the ruts or holes were as big as the track? Would you still go at it full speed? Or would it be too much risk of damaging the wheels on the track. We have seen in other publications. What can happen to general consumer tracks when they're subjected to hard impacts. That would just make a regular tire bounce.
If you had the correct tire pressure set (10-12#) on the tired(wheeled) one you wouldn't beat your helper up and would stick to the hill better than your Trax.

Tearing the turf was not performed properly. It’s misleading. The worst case scenario for Altoz should have the inner trax STATIONARY and making a true ZERO turn just like the Deere did in the video. If one trax remain stationary, I am positive that more grass would get torn off than what we saw with the Deere.
To be fair though, even a zero turn with one stationary wheel will tear up the grass. Been using zero turns since 2008. And anyone who is turning with one wheel stationary should stick to push mowing or get a steering wheel mower.
It may seem heavy but actually the ground pressure per square inch is only slightly over 2 psi. 2 psi ground pressure is substantially lower than a wheeled mower. Tracks provide low ground pressure and high traction which result in less spinning, rutting, sliding and is safer to operate in technical terrain where other mowers can't cut or cut safely.
