At the rate this country is going, there's gonna be a lot more people without homes pretty damn soon. Taxes going up, inflation joining the taxes, idiots trying to ruin the country, and everyone seems to not give a damn. Same! Dealt with this with my ex and now with my current bf... They would get mad saying they had no privacy because they could see outside but I would tell them if you can see outside when you turn it in the upwards position then don't you think that if you then switch it to the downward position everyone outside will be able to see you?
As I got older, I realized curtains really are just superior in every way to blinds. Blinds should be used to help regulate the amount of light on a room, but if you want privacy use a curtain. They also can blackout a room, and they serve as insulation, sound proofing, and acoustic treatment
@@GregFirehawk Well I don't think they were bad. It worked well. Having blackout curtains with the blinds would be just wasted potential, and I am here to fullfill that part myself so the curtains don't have to do that.

@@thund3r94 If the purpose of the curtains does not have to be to block the sun, you can use normal curtains and enjoy the benefits of having so many adjustable levels of light. Blackout curtains with blinds would be a waste in that case.
Imagine your bed is near that type of window and you woke up in the middle of the night seeing nothing in the window but a creepy old man smiling macabrely at you from the window. 💀

@@trashyspeeds266 Not really the same for first floor houses anywhere outside the US, there are a LOT of houses in the EU directly next to roads etc where people can easily just look in while walking by to see what sort of stuff they could steal
The second floor is turn downward bc someone on the ground level can see up into your room when you’re changing or something. It’s not about them climbing up to your second floor
Some stalkers only stalk to induce fear, not to physically harm. While they can be harmless, that doesn’t mean you should get comfortable. They’re still unpredictable
My bedroom is on the second floor. I’ve known about this for a long time, but I still close my blinds facing up so it blocks more light. If I want privacy I have curtains.
That said, how you have your blinds can also affect things if you're trying to keep cool during the summer. One way lets in more sunlight heating up the room more. Good for the winter when you might want this. Not so good during the summer if you have a lack of AC, a weak ac, or whatever.
Having the rounded side facing the window during the summer is good to keep the heat out, and having the rounded side facing the room during the winter helps keeps the heat in
If you don’t understand enough about the second floor, he’s saying if you leave it the same as the front door they can casually look up at a angle through the windows blinds to see what’s inside without moving close up to the window to peek in. You’re welcome ❤

To your knowledge...never had a stalker. I hope it stays that way. Be aware though, as just because you do not see one. Does not guarantee there isn't. Some are stealthy...and narcissists often stalk victim, some electronically, some physically. Be aware...many are not what they seem.
I get where you're coming from and I know that there are weird people out there but who would honestly go through the effort to look through gaps in someone's blinds, like I could barely see anything even when he had the blinds faced down

I genuinely never thought anyone else did this. I ALWAYS closed my blinds like that for that exact reason and just thought it was only something I did.
You’re telling me there are people out there that haven’t thought about this?! I realized this when I was a kid!! Also accordion blinds are my friend now.
My dad taught me to do this when I was young. It's not something I paid much thought to, until I got older and realized how girls and afab folks are often treated and are more at risk of stalking. And coupled with a fear of being watched without knowing, yeah, definitely keeping those blinds positioned properly 😅
Other countries have solved this issue by having normal curtains and bars on the ground-floor windows, so a creep can't just break in anytime they want.

I used to have my kitchen window blinds facing upwards not realizing everyone walking past could look up and see right through and I’d be butt ass naked standing there in the kitchen 😑

Nope. Always upwards. Especially on the 2nd floor. Downwards would be pointing the slits directly at the ground outside. Upwards always shields visuality better.

Its still definitely paranoia. That being said, it does have other benefits, like how much sunlight gets in, helps regulate heat/coolness for those with weaker units
@@trashyspeeds266Yeah, it's paranoia but it can have its benefits. But unless you know you're being stalked, you'll know and they are more pressing concerns if you're being stalked than a window. In most cases no one is actively looking through your windows for more than a few seconds, the only time where it'll really matter is if they're right in your lawn or close to it.
Is it bad that I’ve naturally thought about this constantly? Maybe i’m a private person… maybe i’m paranoid… maybe there’s something horrifying to trigger this thought and the memory has been blocked out by my subconscious to protect my sanity… who knows 🤷♂️
I found this out in college. I lived in campus apts ----on the 1st floor Campus security caught a man----who didn't even attend college----in the back of the apts Looking into the bedrooms of women who had the shades in a downward position. Now if you are located on the second floor---the shades should be positioned downward.
I was sitting playing on my pc by a glass door with blinds at my house there was a camera light staring directly at me and I was pissed but also understandably nervous I told the autorities and they said they found nothing. I just block the glass door to this day so no one can be taking unauthorized pictures or records of me.
Also side note: if you have curtains cool thats great but curtains can sometimes be too see-through allowing no privacy, so please test you're curtains! Go outside your house and look at the curtains you're testing you can either have someone stand inside that room to test it or just place a big enough object to test if there see-through, or just- test it with ur hand idk but yeah please becareful guys!!
I always do this even with curtains, but my dad wanted me to do it the other way cause they were getting stained and I refused. I now do it with every pair of blinds I see when I close them. I sleep on the second story but have always felt the need to do it this way because I felt like someone or something was watching me.
In a downward orientation the peepers need to lift up high into the window to easily see down as where if your blinds are pointed up they can hide down by your wall and peeping through the bottom
