Couldn’t be farther than the truth. For 1, there are no chokes, its clamping of the hi-hat mixed with small splashes (which don’t really need choked). 2, Travis himself has said in interviews that he never plays the same fills or parts the same twice while live, he embraces the creativity.

Watch Blink play this live, he absolute does chokes during this part and he plays this part the SAME way every time live. Go watch any video on RU-vid and you'll see. I've watched Travis for years, he mixes up parts of his songs but plays certain parts the fans love the same so they can air drum to it.
