I would post trail cams everywhere. Somebody needs to be held accountable for this trespassing and for the loss of your sweet mare and foal.

You have to file a complaint with the County Board. Stay with it and because the road has become hazardous, they will close it off to the public. You have enough evidence, so get it done to keep your family and home safe. Working with it here in Oregon

My horses close call. Last October, just before hunting season, I had put my mares and stallion in the paddock less than an eighth of a mile to the north of the house and alongside the highway. My sister and I were locking up on the porch before heading out to town when someone started shooting from the highway onto my property and at my horses. They were so close the rifleshot literally cracked - not the boom from a distance shot. I automatically exclaimed in disbelief, 'Someone is shooting at the horses!', which I am sure they heard just as clearly as I heard their shots. The paddock has a tree shelterbelt between it and the road, so it is possible the shooters were poachers thinking the horses were moose moving through the trees. And, because of the shelterbelt, my house is not visible from the road so they probably had no idea I was there. At the first shot my stallion, Fierro, let out a cry I have never heard before that was half neigh half shrill and instantly got the mares running full tilt towards the arena to the southwest just as I started running that way as well to meet them. He got them out of the paddock, down the chute and into the farthest corner of the arena and relative safety. The shooters vanished. I think the only reason they missed was because of the trees; I could hear some of the bullets hitting them. Thankfully, no one was hurt. But it goes to show just how careless or, in this case, intentionally dangerous some people can be when it comes to horses and private property. I am so saddened to learn of Sioux's untimely death. She was a beautiful girl. ❤

Their shooting up your caution signs is the ultimate "don't care" message. I am appalled on a daily basis at how little regard is given to fellow human beings these days. My heart is with you. May God protect his faithful. It is more important than ever that We look out for each other and stick together!

Sioux was a beautiful graceful lady. Her foal would have been breathtaking. So very sorry for your loss.

The BEST and happiest life for horses is out in the field with a herd. letting your horse be a horse shows real love and compassion. I am so sorry you lost Sioux.

Outrageous! She was pregnant with Oliver's baby...so sad 😔 The irresponsibility and disregard of life by humans is out of control!

You are not to blame for any of this. I would report this to the DNR and explain what has been happening on your farm and the loss of Sioux. Perhaps they can close the road off or put more signs up. Any chance that the local newspaper would write a story on what happened? I am so very sorry about your loss of Sioux praying for you and your family.

I just came across your channel and as a Christian women and huge horse lover I am appalled what happened to that beautiful mare and her unborn foal. What is wrong with people and their need to shoot randomly out into the nowhere and their disregard for someone’s property, especially when they have no clue if an animal or a person might be present, this could have been a human being shot and killed instead of that poor unlucky mare in foal which is bad enough! If I were you I would burn those mattresses and if they bring new ones out, burn those as well, maybe they will get the message. I also would post signs everywhere saying to refrain from shooting because of people being endangered and horses gotten killed by stray bullets since the mare and her foal died. I am deeply sorry for everything you all are going through and my heart breaks for the loss of your beautiful mare in foal, I will keep you in my prayers and ask God that he will protect you, your family and your horses by putting a hedge around you all. 🙏🏻🐴💔

I don’t even have words to say right now to you guys except I’m praying 🙏 Hard bc I too believe it’s a spiritual attack!! I just have no words and I can’t see anyway through these 😭 tears!! That is absolutely horrifying. In the gun safety courses I took, they said “know your target and your backstop” all the time. I’m so sorry she’s gone.

I am so sorry to hear of the death of Sioux. I had two Zane Grey Missouri Fox Trotters (brother & sister Dollar & Brook) both past away of gut twist. A neighbor had dumped whole ears of corn over the fence. My heart was broken. Another much loved horse was Buster, he was struck by lightning coming to the barn during a storm. We have to keep walking in Faith, even when the path is darkened. 💙🙏💙

Long-time watcher here - sorry you all have to go through this. On the faith question, I may not be religious personally, but that doesn't mean I'm offended for any reason that you all are. I'd guess you have a lot of viewers who feel the same. To each their own. Losing a horse unexpectedly is a terrible thing to deal with regardless. You all love these horses - that much is clear. My horse that I’d raised from birth died at the age of 32. I was 11 years old when he was born. It always hurts. I’m so sorry for your loss.

My heart goes out to Y'all. Part of the reason I follow Y'all is because of your faith. I've lost a young colt who I had just sold days before he was supposed to be picked up by someone hunting in the field behind my place. I have a hole in my trailer from a stray bullet and I'm so thankful it's went into the closet and not my sons bedroom, I've even had the alternator on a tractor we used to have shot. Being ex-military I value our freedoms to own guns, but also fully understand gun safety. I used to have a friend who also breed Missouri Fox Trotters here in Oklahoma who lost a mare just weeks before she was to foal because of stupid people firing guns up into the air on New Year's and what people don't understand is what goes up must come down and one hit one of her mares and she and foal were both lost.
