I wanted to change the oilers on my engine because they're a known weak spot. While in there, on a w126, you MUST inspect the chain guides. Unfortunately mine are cooked and I will need to replace them ASAP.
i'm doing the same on mine, i'm trying to get a new timing chain on, how did you do that? i have no clue how to remove the links of the old and new one so i can attach them together.. just hammer them out?
I didn't change my chain because it was tight and well within spec. First zip tie chain to cams so they wont slip then you have to press the pin out or cut the links to get it off. Here's the best video I could find on that. Hope it helps! Timing chain @ 10:50 ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-7DQdGlSLMLM.html&ab_channel=autosick
