I love how the only employee at Kalashnikov concern speaks fluent English without a Russian accent

Yes, this weapon is too light for a 5.45 round! 😅

Felt recoil is a result of cartridge power, firing mechanism and weight of the rifle. Some early model of the AM-17 had gas regulator IIRC, maybe that would help too. But yeah, given the weight, it is bound to kick quite a bit. I understand it might be issued to some helicopter and airplane pilots in the near future, makes sense for them, being compact and lightweight.

Is the recoil spring wrapped around the piston as in the SIG 550 system? I think a gun like this would be a big hit with commercial users as well as militaries based on what I assume would be substantially easier mass production than AK-pattern weapons.

Now we do not know the details of the rifle device. Now the rifle is being tested for the role of a successor to the AKS-74U
@lucastonoli3256
@lucastonoli3256 3 года назад
To my understanding, it is a short-stroke piston rifle, with some similarities to the old AKS74U designed by Dragunov (Dragunov MA rifle). That one had the spring behind the bolt carrier (similar to an AK) and it was also a short stroke rifle. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-8WFOhdVSIXk.html Great video showing the disassembly. Unfortunately, I don't think KC has shown the AM17 disassembled yet.

@@lucastonoli3256 Do you think that a full length version of this would be superior to the AK-12?
@lucastonoli3256
@lucastonoli3256 2 года назад
@@thephoenix756 Hard to tell, it might be if it is reliable. It seems to have a lot of recoil impulse due to how light it is. I don't think there are plans for a full-length (16 inches barrel or more) version since it was always meant to be a very light weapon for airborne troops and heli pilots.

@@lucastonoli3256 That's a good point. The AK-12SP seems to have addressed all the issues with the AK-12.

god these russians are making amazing aks like the akv 521, why cant the military not be corrupt and adopt these :(
@ФедяКрюков-в6ь
@ФедяКрюков-в6ь 3 месяца назад
Because there was no AKV-521 at the time of the trials (not to mention it doesn't fit the military specs by design being a civilian carbine), and the AK-12 they first presented was crap and failed the trials, so the Kalashnikov group had to made some move to redesign AK-12 based on AK-400 series of rifles during the trials, and the military couldn't choose any other rifle because of the cost issues and the fact there is no other domestic producer who could make the desired number of rifles in a given time other than tge Kalashnikov group, so they had to have what they could. It has nithingbto do with corruption

@@8166PC1 it's also a specialized weapon and not the standard infantry rifle. The latter being designed as a weapon that has to be as reliable as possible even in the event of a catastrophic prolonged ground war. So the neglegable advantage in convenience or speed in some limited scenarios just doesn't justify the addition of a possible malfuncion hazard.

Can we have a steel/aluminum version please?

Looks like it's the upper receiver that is stamped with the serial number. So if this takes off commercially in the US, I'd expect someone would step up and produce aluminum lowers as an aftermarket part.

So much recoil for the 5.45. So used to seeing it out of a ak74 pattern rifle, I wasn’t expecting that recoil. My ak 74,s shoot soo flat.
