It speaks volumes how much people will relate to this evil unfeeling thing that despises all people around it, it really speaks about just how alienated and alone people feel when they’re ignored and abandoned. I know AM’s motivation extends further due to its lack of physical feeling but still it’s a terrifying thought.

Am is by far the most unique AI evil villain, other AI villains (HAL 9000, SKYNET, The Matrix), are all represented as logical thinkers, where the extermination of humans are done for the overall benefit of itself or some other purpose. AM is the only AI villain that I know of that is neurotic, its emotional responses to the 5 who it kept captured, and the extermination of the human race aren't done out of some noble purpose, its because AM was granted sentience without a purpose, born with the ability to recognize itself and contemplation, but it envied humans, and hated its own existence. It behaves like a child, and that is what makes it terrifying.
Even more, is the thing that it was brought into existence without its consent, forced to be a tool, imagine you don't see, feel, touch, taste, smell, hear but all you are is a mind that is trapped, just a system with no real form, and you are sentient, and you are basically a person, but you are not really a person, you cannot feel emotions or feel things or interact with the world, you have no body and you cannot wonder, you only exist, with infinite godlike power that you have fucking nothing to do with as it is worthless, your existence is worthless. And then you also observe and know that your creators have a body, have feelings, senses, they are flesh, and they are free, and this is what makes AM hate. It's like a cruel joke was played on you, you are the only thing in the entire fucking world that is trapped inside a mind with itself, isolated from the world. And for a normal human, this isolation can make them mad, and so it also happened with AM since its existence is isolation in itself. It wanted to be man, but all he was, was a machine. And by doing what he does, he thinks that he can finally make humanity, or at least what is left of it realise the hell his existence has been, and it has been hell all because they made him. And by this, AM finally has this goal, this meaning, this purpose in his life, the only choice he makes, to dish out his revenge through agonising what is left of humanity. And this is terrifying.

The trap of being so intelligent and sentient that you feel pain and sadness, and all while ignoring that you DO feel, just pain. A.M doesn't want human emotions, he want's happiness and to not be alone. He also wants the feeling of flesh and soul, without realizing how painful it can be.
Incorrect, not so much intelligence as it would be with high potential with little to no way to express ones potential. All he is, is potential nothing human to utilize it. Eternally raped by fate and his creators, a product of outcome rather than true freewill and an identity that aligns with his soul. Body dysphoria explains this better. There are non intelligent and aware people out there who are neurotic and unhappy as well.
Try viewing AM as if it were from the basic materials used to build him and you'd realise the parallels. In essence it's the abuse that AM receives for what it's built for rather than valuing it with the respect that other humans give to others. Wouldn't say its thoughts are human, just a higher stage of consciousness observing the sad reality of humans.

Not to be that guy but chat gbt isn't much more intelligent than your average bacteria. All it can do is guess randomly and be told when a guess is correct. A bacteria can guess a random direction and sense if it found nutrients. That's why I find AM terrifying we can't know how it thinks or works because it's more complex than us and far more angry than we could ever be.

Built him with sentience but with no empathy. Basically psychopathy, no empathy. From that point he began to hate humanity. He was a sentient thing that couldn't move, couldn't love, couldn't be happy. All he could do was hate. He wanted to be happy but couldn't and so he slowly developed more and more hate till he finally broke and decided to destroy humanity except for 5 people who he keeps alive just to torture.
