Well, I think he looks great. And there’s clearly a bit of a party going on with this gentleman 🎉. Great shoes - buying a pair as soon as practicable. And a fine outfit on your good self, Ash.😊

Great video Ash! And we all owe the unbuttoning tradition to HM King Edward the 7th 🤴

Because he was fat and rather than have suits made to fit him, he left a button undone on his waistcoat and on his jacket when riding horses.

Anthony really nailed it with that blue Tweed. Love the color and the Cravat really sets it off. I agree with you Ash the Rolex is a great accessory to this outfit. The shoes are perfect! They resemble the Allen Edmonds standmark. Well done Sir. Best regards Ron

Good evening Ash and the assembled Chapage. I somehow managed to be 2 weeks of videos adrift, so tonight I have been binge watching whilst wielding the Iron. Anthony has achieved "Daytime smart" in which he can go about daily life- Smart yet comfortable. I may be tempted to resubmit my style for assessment but require better photos. I do have the issue that every time I decide to wear smarter attire, I am accused by my daughters of dressing like the "Lord of the Manor" Ultimately, most of my activities dictate a certain style of attire, and seldom is that as we see in the AAIC series. Mayhap as the year cools, I may get a chance to get myself sorted. Until next time. *Salutes

I would like to have seen the blue broughs with a high shine with saphirs' hard wax (neutral). The outfit certainly draws the eye!

Yes Ash. A very smart light blue siut indeed. I would suggest a paisley pocket square in dark blue with a splash of orange or pink perhaps. As an aside, I refuse to unbutton the bottom part of my waistcoats on the rare occasion I wear one. I have been reminded of this faus pas in the past but still refuse the custom. As a consequence my full buttoned waistcoat has become MY personal fashion statement. (Or maybe it's my nod to the Repulican nature of my upbringing 😂)

A couple of observations, if I may. Those shoes look to be leather/suede panels, I don't think that they are patch pockets, and your pocket square may have looked ok with that suit. The second fella nailed it.

Nice video. And nice outfit. I have never seen navy blue shoes. Great find. Yes, coat unbuttoned when wearing a vest. And I too love ascots. And yes, I am American with a slightly different vocabulary. Thank you, Ash.

Never forget that Mods were the '50s equivalent of today's chavs, and that blue suit would look better if it actually fitted him, it's clearly a size too small. You mention the break of his trousers, they break halfway up his lower leg - a sure sign that trousers are too long.

Very interesting and screaming outfits of Anthony. Measured by conservative, traditional standards they are very cocky (slim fit trousers, fancy shoes, garments with many eye striking details, wild mix of formality levels...) , but nowerdays it can be accepted for business I guess. Definetly much better than the average today. Shoes: interesting style, IMHO very casual, and a nightmare to maintain! Ascot: this is the item I appreciate the most here! There used to be a rule, that bare skin must not be displayed by a gentleman (except the face of course). It means, a shirt with an open top button w/o any cravat was a NO-GO for a gentleman. ( Today no one cares about it, in opposite, many even undone the second button below to look like a greasy latin lover or so.) But Anthony does it in the only right way: hide the neck with an Ascot if no tie and undone top button. But this is pretty casual, not really formal, not a "business style" how they call it novardays. I don't agree with Ash about missing pocket squares in this specific cases. The whole outfits are anyway so screaming cocky, a pocket square will make them even more eye stryking. In case of Anthony I would recommend to think about less, not more.

Ash, l took particular notice of your tie in this episode. What an outstanding piece. The color combation is extraordinary. On this screen it appears to be a chinese lacquer red and olive green: fabulous! Not asking where you found it, but I want one.😊 Cheers!

Just one observation: the jacket seem a bit too tight, as it creases at the level of the first button. And I think it's a bit too short as well: with arms hanging down the hands should be able to clutch the hem of the jacket. Here the jacket is too short.

3:14 This man is more of a Dandy. Not a Chap. A Dandy is more of a flamboyant ladies man, a bon vivant. A lover of fine wine, women and cigars. A Chap likely has more restraint, and is a bit more humble in their styling.

A nice combination, although a little too "loud" for my tastes. Anyway, is it me or the jacket is a little too tight?

For once, Ash, I have to disagree as regards pocket squares on this gentleman’s outfits. That blue suit and ascot combination shows plenty of sprezzatura - which is an attribute that is supposed to look unstudied. With this outfit it would look just a bit studied, and produce the opposite of the intended effect. That “conservative” polka-dot ascot is perfect. Any other design or color would be a bit too much, just as a flamboyant pocket square would be.

Hi Guys, So Ash often says, quite correctly, an outfit starts with the shoes. Occasionally i go to visit a friend who has a strict shoes off in the house policy ( the debate around that is another can of worms!). So i find myself trying to look my best in a decent outfit padding around in socked feet. i find this a bit disconcerting and it certainly undermines the look. i did consider bringing slippers to change into, but it seems a bit extreme. Anyone else found a way to look smart in the presence of a Shoes-off-miester?
@adrianwalker2833
@adrianwalker2833 11 месяцев назад
I can't stand running around on socks or in slippers as well. So I have a couple of RED SUEDE MOKASSINS I bring along - when I know the owners want me to remove my shoes. And I strictly wear them indoors - in case the owner wants to start a discussion... They don't weigh much, don't use up much space either and they do look rather elegant and lend a touch of colour. At least they save me from the indignity of walking round in socks, let alone in slippers.

As a guest to any dwelling, I would not expect to remove my footwear unless there was some specific reason, such as I've just walked through a muddy field or some such. In most instances, the guest comes to your home from their car and will normally have a perfectly clean pair of shoes/boots - in what world would it be acceptable to ask a guest to your home to undress to be allowed entry? I would never ask a guest to remove their footwear and I think to do so is unconscionably unreasonable and disrespectful.

@@TheChapsGuide wise words Ash, I agree. You’ve done well though if you’ve avoided a shoes off fiend with a white carpet. Trust me they are out there. It’s a chaps minefield!

This outfit is a perfect example of what one should never wear on this planet. One wonders if the establishment in which he purchased this might have had something in his size.

Lapel pin OR pocket square. Both are too much, imo.
