Kendrick is better at selling aggression,personality and passion in his songs than Drake

You know the generic pre recorded songs that a toddler’s toy keyboard comes with? That’s pretty much Drake’s production right there.

He been trendhopping that's why none of his shit feels like something new, he rides waves and doesn't create his own.

Your so right about there being no comparisons! Kendrick won a Pulitzer Prize for music in 2017 for his song DAMN, the first time ever in Pulitzer Prize history a rap song has one this prestigious award. Typically, this award goes to a classical song. This showcases that Kendrick is a true artist, poet and lyricist who makes music for the soul as opposed to Drake who makes commercial music for mass consumption, which is why in Kendrick's rap son "Not Like Us" he calls Drake a Pop Star as opposed to a true rapper. this is also why Kendrick has 17 Grammys to date and Drake only has 5 to date. Thank you for the music production breakdown!

Kendrick is also the ONLY musician outside of jazz and classical to win a Pulitzer, he is truly in a class of his own

Omg thank you girl lol everytime I comment on how boring and repetitive drake songs are I get dog piled but you conveyed it perfectly. His comebacks are so corny and immature as well he had no hope against Kendrick honestly I don't care how popular he is , its obvious. Drake raps with no convinction at all so it's hard to be amazed

The Euphoria “U better walk around like daft punk” whole transition was too notch. Drake felt like he listened to a whole bunch of beats picked which ones he liked and rap on them with no producers adding to it. Kendrick’s felt like a collaborations
@jeffwilliams2828
@jeffwilliams2828 23 дня назад
The opening of Euphoria is Teddy Pendergrass “You’re my latest and greatest inspiration” Which is symbolic in itself as they say K Dot has been struggling with writer’s block.

Good Kid Maad City and To Pimp a Butterfly have outstanding music production and are vastly different. It would be interesting to see you break down those Kendrick albums.

Fun fact. The first section of Euphoria is actually a sample. A RU-vid channel called Tracklib actually has a breakdown of all of the samples used in most of the disstracks.

Kendricks choice of flow, cadence, voice inflections actually add to the beat.
@goreyfantod5213
@goreyfantod5213 18 дней назад
7:10 Kendrick's voice is basically the most expressive instrument within music that's composed of uniquely expressive instruments. He's drawing on 400+ years of cultural history for his inflections & rhythmic patterns and can move seamlessly from carrying the melody to leading the percussion. Drake's vocals are more like a rhythm guitar; he's following the pace set by the beat rather than weaving a complete musical experience.

The part that starts when Kendrick says, " Once upon a time all of us was in chains is stripped down. It's just the beat no horns very simple. It draws you in and makes you pay attention as he proceeeds he brings the elements back in to go with his voice and what he's trying to say. Genius story telling and music production.

I think Kendrick understands how music really compliments vocals, he uses the music production to further enhance the punch or effect of his lyrics. His willingness to experiment and use a variety of beats on a lot of his songs really adds to his versatility

There was old album called Back to Back with Teddy Pendgress and Al Green. The next song Kendrick released 1 day later back to back was 6:16 in LA which featured a Al Green sample.

To me it just felt like drake wanted to hurry and put anything thats catchy out there and because he is so popular it doesn't matter what he put out.

Really interesting angle to react to this was dope. That second part on pushups that you recognized from Shek Wes originally comes from Notorious BIG “What’s Beef?”

Very unique review (I've gone down the diss battle rabbithole😂) and U make a great point; Drake is not that creative(this ties into the criticism that he cultivates or as Kenny says colonises other artists sound and style)and I think it's coz he's so use to being formulaic making production-line songs the industry prefers(they like if U make a hit,all Ur other songs to sound like that and doesn't evolve). Kenny on the other hand is a true artist, for him it's about the art form and it's on full display. This battle has re-energised hip hop and I'm glad the real hip hop won over the fake.

I've watched so many reactions of this beef. I'm probably biased since I'm a producer but your breakdown is one of my favorite since nobody else is really speaking on the instrumentation of it all. Which is fair lol, this is rap. Lyrics are important. Drake's problem at this point is that not only is his production the same, his lyricism hasn't evolved either. Kendrick could hop on the same beat and flip 10 different songs out of it because of his depth as a lyricist. But you pair that level of creativity with different production and Drake never stood a chance

I was a Drake fan before I was Kendrick fan. When I got into my twenties I leaned more toward Kendrick The more I grew intellectually the less appeal Drake's music had. I didn't really like Kendrick's music at first but the more I listened it the more I wanted to listen.

And finally someone talks about how boring/repetitive the production from Drake is. Its like the worst version of manufactured fast food music and it only gets played at the top because of the music labels behind it. ALL the beats are the same...nothing special and the music is very formulaic. I feel bad for people who think that's what real Hip-Hop sounds like.

Harsh how? TBH she was being kind. Drake literally makes the same songs, with the same subject matter with the same monotone voice for YEARS. Its so boring and played out and algorithm music. He literally just has FOMO on his side. People listen to it because its drake...not because its quality music. Even all the beats are the same...just rearranged.
